It's an awesome sequel. It's just as good as the first movie. In some ways it surpasses it. Kinda like The Terminator and Terminator 2. Seeing new weapons being utilized, seeing the Predator's ship and the ethereal interior where we got to see glimpses of Predator tribal culture inside it was very intriguing. I've probably seen Predator 2 more times than the original. Every other Predator and Predator related movie like the AVP series, Predators 2010, The Predator 2018 (for me at least) has been disappointing by comparison.
If I remember correctly, when Harrigan has the predator cornered in the meat packing facility he fires a couple bursts of rounds at the predator, it damages the predator's plasma caster rendering the weapon nonfunctional. The predator tears it from his shoulder and discards it, then primes his secondary gauntlet weapon that fires a rocket like projectile at Harrigan. The rocket get's imbedded in Harrigan's body armor which Harrigan quickly discards. Hence the state of the battle damaged figure refers to the time period after the predator no longer has the plasma caster.
I have a soft spot for Predator 2. It seemed to be on TV alot when I was a kid and I loved all the new gadgets City Hunter had plus I had an appreciation for all his weapons that he shared with Jungle Hunter. P2 just sits in the nostalgia part of my heart.
I wanted this one so bad. Predator 2 is my favorite of the films, and I love that NECA did this take on the character. The execution of it, though, definitely leaves something to be desired. The peg system for his arm is sort of off-putting, but I believe - just from looking at the sculpting of the stump and the hand - that if the two pieces were properly aligned, it would fit better and probably be more flush as well. I wish the respirator was a removable accessory instead of needing a whole second head to accommodate it. I think the single biggest letdown on this figure to me, though, is that he doesn't come with his Medkit. My goodness what a missed opportunity. Instead of recycling accessories from the first figure, it should have been an open version of his Medkit, the big needle he sticks himself with, his tube of glowing blue liquid, the spreading knife/utensil (with blue-caked blade), and his melting plate with glowing blue liquid/melting debris deco - and with a tight-grip hand or two to accommodate. I also agree with some folks here that the disk should have had his blood on it.
I almost bought this one when I visited a local comic book store yesterday. The reason why I didn't do so was because I already have the regular City Hunter Predator. However, I may go back and pick it up anyway. I really like the battle damaged effect that was done to the figure. The fact that the left hand can come off works well when it comes to the aforementioned battle damaged effect. Otherwise, thanks as always Spot. I greatly appreciate the continued hard work!
After my review I shut the lights out and... His blood glows in the dark. Haha definitely bumped up my rating personally. Bit of a lazy release but it's a must have if you are collecting preds.
Now how are you going to fix the hole in the arm? Because it would be the only spot that wouldn't glow in the dark. Unless you had glow in the dark paint? When mine arrives I am considering cutting the peg off the hand section that already has matching glow in the dark paint and reversing it into the hole, might need to shave at it.
Really wished they hadn't gone for the peg removal system of the arm. I wish they had done something similar to what they did with the Ultimate Ash from Evil Dead, give him a normal arm, but then give him an alternate fore arm piece that has a chopped off hand and blood all over it, that way there is no peg sticking out and a gaping hole for the peg to stick into. I have the original version of this figure from back when it came out in the 2 pack at toys R us, and while I always liked that figure I always thought it was a dumb feature that they used a peg. In the marketing for this ultimate they REALLY made it seem like it wouldn't be a peg system, but I am very disappointed to see they did go with the peg/socket type. It's a pretty lazy way to achieve the mechanic, and though I was considering getting this figure, I don't think I am going to anymore. What a shame. Anyways, thanks for the review or I might have bought this figure thinking he did have the feature I had in mind and have been even more disappointed. Also sidenote I don't find this repaint to be worth it accessory wise, too much of it is reused from the Ultimate City Hunter which I already have. Really wish they had gone with that med kit idea you had and a smart disk with predator blood on it since that is what chops off his hand in the film. That's why I found it so important that the chopped hand looked good, because that was basically the only selling point for me.
I got mine as a gift and the paint for his blood wasn't very good so I went over it with some citadel glow effect paint and it turned out really well I even added some to his head and mouth

Went back and rewatched the movie and I think you're right Sean, the blood seems to be in the same places where he's injured in the movie, that some attention to detail on NECA's end. Yeah I have to wonder if they're ever planning to do a Harrigan, we were getting alot of the characters from the first predator and then it just stopped, maybe they don't see the market to do human characters because they'd have to pay for the actors likeness? thanks for watching the video though Sean! btw wanted to ask you, are you able to see all my new videos showing up in your subscription feed? have heard from a couple of viewers they aren't seeing the newer ones popping up?
I've seen alot of negative comments on this review and others about the peg in the arm. I completely understand and am somewhat disappointed myself, its still a great figure and a good update to the original two pack one. Some have mentioned a swappable forearm or gauntlet peice, but that would not work due to the short length of the peg for that to work. The only way that I could see it work and look good would be a magnet system. That would hold well enough and be able to be painted over to blend in. Similar to what some high end figures and statues use. Also used alot in wargaming and model making. One final note: Why is it that out of all the youtube reviews I've seen on this guy, no one has had the arm halves aligned properly? Its incredibly distracting.
very nice. I don't know if its just me it seem the arm wasn't lined up right . yeah I think my ocd was kicking in.. I do want to get the old McFarlane release of this guy only for the fact it comes with that opened or opening medical kit and it should work well with the Neca one
I don’t know if you notice but I don’t like that his wrist computer is facing down on the half that is attached to his arm. Even in the pictures on the box and pics on advertisements it looks right.. but in person they seem to have made it backwards. I wish i could correct it and face the computer up but it is molded in place.
great review, if you rotate the upper part of the forearm so the spikes line up the arm might stay on a little bit better, I don't have mine yet but I also had a couple people tell me he has glow in the dark blood too :o

I think you can't go wrong with either Jungle or City if you want movie Preds in your collection, Alpha is a nice one, I have a fondness for Lost too, just because its such a very different looking Predator

That peg hole in the arm and that paint job on it both look terrible. And since Neca lied big time with the photos they released, this one is a hard pass.

I like how his hand comes off. Will definitely be picking up this guy. A great addition to the NECA crew

I have never heard city hunter's back story....that's really cool.

I love the toy and i have it myself but i hate that it doesn't have plasma canon
