I have an uncle who met his wife here and he proposed to her here at Cumberland Falls, several years ago. He use to help rescue people who fell in. As always thanks for the wonderful video.
Thank you for the video.. my mom and dad loved Cumberland Falls, its been 26yrs since our last visit..mom and dad are gone now and this brings back good memories.. thank you.
Enjoyed the video. Love the falls. Wish they would get a crew to clean up all the plastic bottles, etc. Thanks a lot for sharing this with us. God bless and have a great day!
I love the sound of a waterfall. Sleeping in one of those covered wagons would be an adventure. And you know you'd be safe because they've got `em circled. :)
I'm getting old and slow, I didn't even notice those wagons were circled, I could have had a lot of fun with that on the video, LOL. Thanks for watching!
My dad grew up in Loyall in Harlan County and Cumberland Falls held great memories for him. I remember as a very small child, him bringing me to the falls. At that time, you could go right up to the edge of the falls on the big, flat rocks surrounding it. I was scared, being so close, but I knew my dad was there to make sure I was safe. I also recall tiny salamanders rubbing against my feet as I waded in the water. To this day, I only like swimming in a pool - little slimy creatures in the water still freak me out.
@@IgnitedCoyote it was great! I went to Cumberland but I took 179 and it was... Interesting. The roads are way more interesting than CA. I took a random turn and ended up at Kingdom Come state park and took some pictures at the 12 o'clock overlook. I am back in Johnson city now, but I know I'll be back. I loved it
We have tried to see the moon bow a few times but the weather didn't cooperate. The falls is definatly one of my favorite places and I think almost everyone in my family has had their picture taken with it in the background.
We are looking at relocation to Kentucky. Learning many interesting things from you and this channel. Also looking for any advice you might have for living in this area with a family. Thanks in advance @ignitedcoyote
@@dustynehewitt5465 I understand. My family moved to Corbin in the late 80's due to my dads job and that was one of the big factors for choosing Corbin. My parents were from Ohio and Pennsylvania and my mother was glad we lived near Lexington first because the culture is so different. It's gotten better I think, but ppl are still leary of 'outsiders'. So don't be put off when ppl ask who your ppl are (it's a way of asking who you're related to). It takes a little time for ppl here to warm up to new comers but it's still a nice area and place to live especially if you like the outdoors.
I live here and I don't find it really all that impressive there has been no updates or any kind of activities that has been updated at the Cumberland Falls as far as coming visiting the Cumberland Falls the only excitement thing would probably be looking at the water although you can go underneath the Falls I highly recommend being safe about doing so but other than that enter at your own risk but you can go behind the falls is not permitted though probably about the only excitement thing there they should look at doing some improvements and updates on other activities and things to do State Park could see a better increase of Revenue if they would do so must not be no room in the budget for any kind of updates sucks
I enjoyed this adventure. I would probably never have seen this if you had not shared it with us. Thanks for bringing me along.
You're welcome! thanks for coming along.

Michael Hamrick I agree with that, I wonder why they don’t take care of that. They have employees.....

Love that place. We used to go from Hazard once a year on a family trip while we stayed at Koomer Ridge Campground in Slade.

I like the London Corbin area, it has a great small-town feel, but you have access to i-75 so you're not as isolated as you are in some small towns.
Corbin has one of the best school districts in the state. Corbin and London are about half way between Lexington and Knoxville. It's a nice area.
@@IgnitedCoyote that's one of my concerns so good to hear!
@@battygirlrachel that is another strong concern so good to know as well!
