When I first watched NuWho as a kid, I used to look back on the old Doctor Who and wonder how anybody could enjoy something with such bad effects. Now here I am still enjoying NuWho with truly awful VFX. The circle is complete
The characters, the plots and the writing are supposed to be what draws you in, which is why the current doctor is so boring, the characters are 2D, the plots are lazy and the writing could be outdone by a drunk child.
K H agreed the effects where laughable, but that’s not why you would watch, you’d watch to see the doctor be clever, the story and the world, all of which is sorely lacking in the current doctor show runner

I liked that they didn't make him a totally heartless villain. His son still decided to live with him in the end, to help him settle into modern life.

I mean one could argue the same with classic who. Both were amazing in my opinion (the shows, not VFX)
