I know there is a wheel underneath but the thought of putting hubcaps on a $50,000 luxury car blows my mind. My $15,000 honda civic had hubcaps on them in 1995.
If you don’t like the hubcaps you can pay $2000.00 more for the 20 inch induction wheels.
The hubcap is for added efficiency.

I have reports that the tires on the Y extend beyond the car's body causing whatever ends up on tires to be spun on to the sides of the car. People are mounting mud flaps on the front. Verification...?
True. Vehicle designed to be aerodynamic so the front panel on rear of the vehicle forming the rear wheel well will take a beating.
What the range difference between the two wheels does add more range or reduce range.

I have them but forgot to apply the tape 🙈 What is the tape for and is it really necessary?
its for a firm fit and also for noise reduction like no rattle
you can always take off the wheel caps too
@@Aimon30boy I'm still without tape, there is no rattle and the fit seems to be ok. I suspect the tape is added to prevent claims about possible scratches. But, as it's working now, we'll keep it like this

I notice a lot of long range owners in fb and reddit always critisizing the Model Y Performance yet I see so many long ranges with the rear spoiler and fake uberturbine wheels covers trying to look like one.
The new hub caps do look good with the black paint. I've just ordered the RWD in silver with 19" Gemini and I think the originals suit that colour better though.

Not for me. I just don’t like that silver and grey caps. They are better on model 3 and look amazing. I love aero caps

I personally do like silver/light colour hupcaps, the metal grey ones look fine on their own, but when they are faired with a black Model Y, the wheels look dirty. Sorry for the negative comment but this is my genuine feeling.

They look nice but the uber turbines takes it for me. Its crazy how people will pay 50 something k for a car but cry about 2k wheels. Seems a little backwards to me
Yeah, but you lose range with the mags. This way you still keep all your mileage.
