    I bought one and I mastered two songs in my studio today. Different league and amazing. But it's EXPENSIVE. Thanks for your review as it influenced the buying decision. I can't imagine my studio without the Buzz Audio REQ 2.2 now.

      @@DanAdlingtonOnline excellent to hear. I'm glad you come to the same conclusion I did.

    Brilliant and finally can hear this beast in action. Looking really forward to you comparison. Because that's exactly what I wanted to ask. Buzz against Thermos & MEA-2. If there is a chance to bring also the GOLY PG in the game would be highly appreciated. I only miss for some output level matching, because this one adds a lot of gain to the table. But the MEA-2 & Thermos also do not have any output trimming. Thanks for this Paul !

    I bought the Buzz after this review. I had to wait 3 months for an MEA so I bought a stock ME version. Will plan on buying the Active Low Band card later to make it MEA. Thank you so much for this review!

      This is great to hear. I instantly ordered another one after bringing it into my studio. Such a great sounding EQ.

      @@AudioAnimalsStudio if you’d choose a buzz vs spl pq, what would you choose? Cause my buzz just died on me on my second day.. I’m using a Massive passive, gml 8200 for midside, and was using buzz torwards the final chain

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      @David Hong how did it die? I use the Buzz in stereo and then the SPL PQ in mid side. The Buzz is smoother. The PQ is more like the Maselec MEA-2 in my opinion. I know 3 months is a long time to wait for a custom build from New Zealand but it'll be worth it. I posted a review yesterday of the SPL PQ. Check it out.

      @@AudioAnimalsStudio I came to my studio the next day and it just wouldn't power up. I know that it's the circuit board problem and an easy fix but might as well get a new one with the 1684 transformer and an MEA. I don't think I'll ever use the choke based low filter.. was going to get the PQ but ended up just putting an order for the BUZZ cause I already have a bettermaker MEQ for curgical problems anyway.

    Needs an output gain control for obvious reasons. Smooth sounding eq

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it does. Trying to think one EQ I have that has an output gain. Hmm nope can't think of one.

      @@AudioAnimalsStudio zahl eq1, ssl ultraviolet (I think you may own this?) Manley massive passive, magg eq4m (input trim but can be used to compensate) chandler curve bender, TK tklizer2 to name a few. It makes a massive difference. The obvious being checking improvement of source material after dialling in. Additionally can be used as a control in the master chain, for example you have increased the lows by +4db and your next in chain is a compressor your now feeding that compressor an extra level in bass if you have an output control on the eq you can dial the gain back to control how you hit the compressor, you could argue to adjust the threshold of comp but what if you like the setting but just want to hear a few db less on the input stage? I think it makes a difference. The ssl ultraviolet has an output control and it’s entry level eq (might I add that doesn’t sound half bad)

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @JMP MUSIK out of all my high end EQ's none had output gain. Literally looking round every studio for one with an output gain. Like you say maag has input but none have output. I see what you are saying but it's by no means something that should be added.

      @@AudioAnimalsStudio I’m guessing your a maselec prism audio owner (really great eq beautiful and worth every penny) but this design has been in production for a while and the old saying if it ain’t broken don’t.. but I think as engineers we should challenge manufacturers to create intuitive solutions for us at the end of the day sir we are giving them our money we sold out time for. Another good reason an output is good is if you only have the eq in chain next the conversion it’s good to compensate for adjustments before hitting conversion or simply you may even want to drive the overall sound harder into the converter. I respect your opinion you definitely have a lot of experience but this is just my humble opinion. Have a play around with the magg and ssl make some adjustments then compensate and see if it sparks any interest or makes you feel differently about your opinion or simply maybe you just never considered it because your used to a particular eq layout.

      @JMP MUSIK an output gain that isn't necessary just adds extra cost to the product. Us professional will end up having to pay for stuff we don't need.

      We had one about 3 years ago. A custom build. Developed a fault in the saturation circuit and lead time on repair was 6 months + because of covid and the world being shut down. So we swapped it for a maselec mea 2. Regretted ever letting it go. Now we are out the other side of the pandemic. The lead time is only a month. So I've ordered another one.
