You can't make enough Sauger videos they are so fun to catch and good to eat. I've learned a LOT from your videos I'd love to see you catch a big Walleye!!
Pray for the Old Fisherman Steve! He has been going through a hard time so keep him in your prayers. I love your videos Richard and seeing you catch fish!
Yes, sir, and I do love Sauger fishing and we have some monsters. But, don't throw dinner away. They taste just awesome. I use cagan dip and fry up crispy. Mercy my brother!
Hey guy! I just thought I'd let ya know that i watched one of your videos about fishin with an ultra light. That's the way me and my dad fished for years. Seems like there's more enjoyment out of it with light tackle. Long story short..i text my dad (after watching one of your videos), and we had one heck of a time catching sandies and channel cats! Took home a stringer full! That was a memory i will NEVER forget. Thank you for your inspiration RGTFM! Good luck God bless, and lines tight!
I really enjoy your channel. You are a regular Joe like the rest of us .keep making videos and I promise I'll keep watching. Your videos are very informative to me. Thanks again brother.
1600 people liked this...16 didn't. I agree with you...how could you not like Richard Gene? I have learned more from him in one year than any other single source I can think of. Richard is such a great teacher. Most people on TH-cam show themselves catching fish, while Richard shows you how to catch fish.
Some very nice sauger. I caught about 25 crappie today and kept 10 to eat. I used the 1/32 jig with cycle hook and shad colored Bobby Garland. loved it.
Love these sauger videos. My dad and I used to catch them on the Tennessee River just below Wilson damn in muscle shoals. Go get em buddy!!! WOOOOOOOO!
I'm a little late to the party but I just wanted to comment on your white braid. I also used green ever since power-pro hit the market years ago. But as of late I've been casting small jigs to crappie from the bank and really wanted to see my line for light strikes. So I put it on my new reel and just the other day. I then watched a video about braid underwater. It turns out white is the least visible color! Who would have guessed? High visibility above water and low under water. I should have made the switch a long long time ago. Anyways that my 2¢
Hoping y’all didn’t get hit to hard by the storms over the weekend. I’m a new subscriber and I really enjoy watching your channel . Your years of experience, knowledge of these waters and ability to target various different species definitely reflect in your videos. Gonna be awfully soupy this week down your way due to a stalled front, so you and Mamma Sue keep dry and safe until your next fishing adventure.🎣
Be there Friday God willing !!1 Do you think the water level will be about the same or will they turn her lose ?? Thank for being you Mr. Gene and God bless you and Mama Sue !!!
Great job Richard! One suggestion is like to make is to do your intros and such with the sun or lights in front of you instead of behind your head because of the shadows on your face. People like me who can't hear well depend partly on lip reading and can't see your face in the shadows. Keep on fishing because it's gooood fer ya! Randy from California......
Holy crap! I just got finished cleaning 3 fifteen inch sauger! Anyone in the middle Tennessee area can catch them behind Cheatam Dam right now. Not many numbers yet though but big ones so far. They're just coming in to spawn.
Richard, you are the first fisherman to show me a sauger. They kind of look like a walleye, are they related? Also I have heard that walleye are the best tasting freshwater fish there is ( I have also heard the same for Crappie) how does a sauger taste? Keep doing what you are doing..best fishing videos on the internet. Say hello to Elmo!!
Great video!!! The lake that I fish here in NC doesn't really have any or many saugers in it. If you kept a mess of 'em, how would you cook 'em? Thanks!
I went last night, got there at 7:45 stayed till 4 am and landed 11. Five of them where keepers and I made sure they were males. A older man fishing next to me caught a big walleye but threw it back
Are Sauger numbers going up for y’all in the Tn river? Their cousins are tasty I’m sure the sauger are too you should do a cooking video gene if you ever get a mess to take home.
I’m not familiar with Sauger. But I’m very familiar with Walleye. They sure do look a lot alike. Is there a relation between the two? New to the channel, you scared the crap out of me at the end. 😀
are yall survivin up there with the coronavirus? The stats say yall are gettin' your butts whipped! From Oklahoma here, only a matter of time before it hits us hard as well.

Woo! Gettin' me a hoodie. No Sauger on my home lake spillway, just trout. I'm of a mind to ride somewhere on the TN River and try my luck.
Love the sauger videos, the color on that last one was something to see. Good health to all the Elmo viewers in 2020!

Nice fish Richard, very entertaining to watch. I fish the same waters and use the same technique. It’s nice to watch you lay the steel to em👌👍
Hey Mr. Gene would you consider a guided fishing trip?
Sauger Slayer! and the Machine marches on! NEXT...
You gotta come catch some big salts with me this summer..
I’m not first but right in there, Richard Gene The Machine, lets go Sauger fishin.
that's almost the same set up i'm using to catch limits of walleye here in michigan, except im using a 6 lb fluoro leader and 1/16th oz jigs.
Loved the video RG!
I don't recall you mentioning it before rg, what is your biggest sauger? I reckon they don't get nearly as big as walleye

What kind of boat/motor/trolling motor do you have? I'd like to have a simple set up like you do.
Do sauger just live in river water and do they have to be stocked in a pond
Are Sauger numbers going up for y’all in the Tn river? Their cousins are tasty I’m sure the sauger are too you should do a cooking video gene if you ever get a mess to take home.
THE GOD!...Keep up the good vids!
Richard wouldn’t appreciate you calling him a god. He knows there is only one god
Can't wait to move out of Commiefornia and do some real fishing back east.
I’m not familiar with Sauger. But I’m very familiar with Walleye. They sure do look a lot alike. Is there a relation between the two? New to the channel, you scared the crap out of me at the end. 😀
Nice sauger
Thank y’all now I gotta get that cup !!!
ever fish wilson lake?
Will these methods work for walleye?
Richard Gene how do you keep your braid from twisting up
You should have measured that last one! Those were all some nice sized fish!
Catch, clean, cook would be a really good video. Keep em coming.
Any walleye around that area?
I would think that a wallay that would be a trip
This time next yeah I think he will have 1 million subscribers!!
Why don't you have 16" to 24" marked on the side rail of the boat (even with just a black marker) so you can do a quick measure before you release?
In the river I fish here in new york we have to release all sauger.
