Loved the count of 9 soldering demo. I just wish ( and this is hyper nerdy ) folk would count from zero as you are heating, soldering, heating for 2 seconds. Imagine your lap times if they began with a count of One !!! 😀
Nice to hear the PR soundcheck Chris- though the intensity on the trem seemed a little weak compared with my brown Princeton. Could you do a Q&A on valve bias at some time? Do you use 12 or 14w for calculation purposes on 6v6 tubes? Thanks, David
Recently subscribed and enjoying the videos. Good format. Thanks for sharing your tube preferences. There are so many choices it would take much time and money to try them all. Also like the solder countoff to see how long others leave the heat on. Do you use the same 9 count for parts in an amp? Thanks.
Question: Hi Chris, recent subscriber, love the format! Wondered if you had an opinion on adding an effects loop (or even just a preamp bypass jack) to a Cornell Romany? I see you have worked on one fairly recently. Have bought an HX stomp and would love to try some amp sims so toying with the idea of a Fender ToneMaster, but not sure I can part with my Romany! Many thanks, Dave
Hey Chris. I never heard a problem with your mic clipped on shirt. Now with it attached to the boom, its coupled to something that causes low freq. rumble. Might be A fan hitting it but its really low freq. I see (hear) ~ 50Hz on my RTA. Jusr a heads up. audib;le and annoying. Go on you tube and listem
Hiya, with regards to Mojotone speakers, Thomann now stocks them in the EU. I recently fitted their Anthem 12 and it's pretty good for a budget speaker. Much like a C12q with a slightly smoother top end, and more power handling. The matt paint job is odd!
Thanks for answering my question about using a device in effects loop for silent practice. Really helpful. I’d like to join the channel as I get so much enjoyment and information from it, and it’s why I bought my amp to you for service. I can’t see a join button on either individual video or channel pages, and the TH-cam website is zero help. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks again for this channel. 👍
placing a mic at 90 degrees from the center of the speaker is a new idea for me, thank you tried it with a P120 i found at a good price, works a treat and is a nice option for the tone bag chris, do you have a tip jar ? would like to say thank you for all the knowledge you are sharing
Hi Chris - soldering iron question... I've just orderred a kit to do my first build (Modulus Deep Fried Marshbar) and suspect the old soldering iron I have isn't really suitable. I don;pt want to spend more than the kit cost on an expensive Hakko or similar for something that might be a one-off. Any suggestions on decent quality at a budget? I was looking at the Hakko entry-level stuff (e.g. FX-888D) ...
@RiftAmps there was a low rumble/hum a couple of times from the mic on the stand at the desk, would go away when go to other shots, might have been noticeable because listening with a subwoofer on my system (wasnt all the time though). But other then that, the audio was fine.

I’m counting musical beats 😂
@@RiftAmps ah, hadn’t thought of that… and I’m a muso !!
Absolutely love the negative feedback explanation! I've heard that term forever but never actually knew what it meant 🤣 now I know 😊
That Princeton sounded awesome! What a perfect amp/speaker combination.
That 18 plexi looks absolutely fantastic.

Wow...you are having the same temps as California! Glad it is not raining for you there!

Another great episode Chris….keep them coming please..!
Great stuff!
Glad you think so!

The mic placement is a happy accident, it's not anything clever...just sounds best like that.
You can always join the channel for a month or two :)

those happy accidents can teach us much if we pay attention to them. : )
am now at 45 degrees to the speaker to bring in a bit more highs
I've never heard of "TAD" tubes. Where do they come from and are they widely available?

You need at least 40w (60w is better) with temp control. In the description of my vids are links to all of the gear I use.
Question, What's your opinion on running heater AC wires and others in parallel rather that twisted?
I built 2 identical 6g2 Princetons, one with twisted heater wires, the other with close parallel wires and there is no audible difference in hum.
@@David-gx9lh Good to know, I'm wanting to try it on my next build.
Audio was actually worse than in previous videos ....
Thanks for the feedback!

Anyone know what mic was used on the Princeton ? AKG P420 ? Tasty playing sir. Learning much from your channel. Thank you
It's an AKG P120
