I'm bout to do some cinder block choppin.
Safety, ENGAGED!
I removed the secondary lock on mine. Quite easy to do. It leaves a hole in the handle but it now is more conveninent to use. I tried fidgetting, flipping, clicking etc, with the secondary lock as well, but no - not fun enough...
I totally agree if you feel you need a secondary plunge lock you probably are using the wrong locking system. I have never liked additional locks and would pass on the knife for that reason alone.
I wish Kershaw would release a L or XL Belair. It would be perfect for me in the 3.6-3.8"
On their website a review said they just removed the secondary lock entirely. I don’t know whether that effects anything else but that could be an option (if it works)
Going from the weight measured, I think this is the G10 version, coming at $55. There are FRN versions as well that are $40.
No, it's frn. Just from looking you can tell
@@mikew8214 looks can be deceiving, that's why I mentioned the weight. The G10 version is 0.2 oz heavier. Also, I could only find that color combination on the G10 model at CJRB's website.
@@Luis_fmo I can see the layers now after zooming when he held it close. My apologies, you're right. Nice catch
@@mikew8214the green ones are g10 and the blue are frn. That’s how the large lites are sold. There is no blue g10 or green frn versions. It came down to material availability and they’ve released a statement about this.
Someone else pointed this out and I was wrong. It is indeed g10 on this variation
Same secondary lock as the Locust. Quite frankly I like it. Was unsure at first but after carrying a Locust for a bit I like it & you get used to it pretty quick.
Recently I've gone back to a Civivi Conspirator I picked up way back in the plunge lock hayday of 2021 or 2022. It strikes me how much they did right from the get go that companies still struggle with- enough good jimping on the spine and (perfect) flipper tab. Incredible "detent" and action for a plunge lock. The reason I bring it up here is that the little bit of lock stick gives me a bank vault lock up (absolutely zero play) and it's plenty secure for anything I would use a pocket knife for. I've seen Lefty EDC muddle his way through a disassembly of one of these CJRBs with the secondary lock (sorry Lefty 😉) and it adds so much unnecessary complication for virtually no added benefit assuming the primary lock geometry is done correctly.
For anyone interested, I felt the secondary lock was too close to the primary so I ground the secondary flush with the scales on both sides. The secondary lock remains usable and is now out of the way. It took a few fittings but well worth it in the end.
CJRB Please make a version without a secondary lock. I would definitely buy one if you did
i think worth noting is that it also has a g10 option rather than just FRN
I have a Gerber button lock that has the same secondary lock. It's an assisted open. I almost never use it and I actually forget it even has it most of the time.
I’m surprised CJRB didn’t use ARSFII on this one but I like it nonetheless!
Out of ALL lock types, the button lock is the only one that has closed on me unexpectedly. Ill take it. Its also well designed being out of the way.
To play devil's advocate:
Have you ever dropped a closed pocket knife?
Has a closed pocket knife ever fallen off your desk?
Did it land open?
I'm not too cool to admit I have dropped a knife or two, and generally it will open itself on impact. I think it's fine that out of the 1,000 knife options out there, this one has the option to lock shut. It isn't meant to lock the blade open, but if you were going to spine whack it with the safety lock in place, the blade would need to bypass two points of contact in order to flip closed. I've personally never worried about that happening, but for what it is worth, that's cool too I guess.
I got a pyrite light for £25! Just under $30 and for that money its a no brainer tbh. Once you get used to the button lock (mine doesn't have the safety) its decent but doesn't really need a finger choil.
The Super Lock is copyright free, and the only reason I can think of to not see it everywhere is that other companies aren’t good enough to recreate it, much like Tactile failed with their Chupacabra.
Love my large pyrite! If you haven't used one try it
They should make this knife with a top liner lock and it would be perfect.
I want large pyrite in s90v and axis lock pls!
Ya I bought one and the secondary lock would get stuck. I exchanged it and haven't had a problem since thank god
I think from now on you should compare all knives to your over built knives 😂😂 CJRB compared to the Mid Guard Viking 💀always love the videos man keep it up ❤️❤️😁
I found the secondary lock annoying enough I took it out and ground it down and polished it so it sits flush with the scale.
Not a fan of any secondary lock personally but if they offer both with and without everybody is covered
So that secondary lock will actually fail. Open the knife. Engage secondary lock. Move fingers fully onto to handle. Press and hold button while jiggling blade. Mine swings shut without the secondary lock being fully release very easily.
I like the knife. I can take or leave the secondary lock. But I don't think having it on the knife takes away from the knife in any way. And my guess would be is if this were your true EDC muscle memory would dictate you don't accidently press the wrong button.
Day 87 of asking metal complex to use the unit button on his scale to show weight in imperial and metric system for people outside of the US
Day 1 of telling you to just convert it yourself, it’s simple math.
@@1vitabrevis 28.3495 * 3.9 is just annoying to calculate, his scale could do it in 1 second.
United States is all that matters, what is so difficult to understand about that. Have a nice day ;)
Day 1 of me saying "convert it dude. You'll live"
Thanks 👋
Nice try commie
Isn't that G10?
Nope. EDIT* I'm wrong.
@@metal_complex it is bro. That color combo only comes in g10 currently and if you zoom in you can see the layers of the g10
Edit- no shade at you intended btw just wanted to make sure people get the right info.
Yes it is
@mjv40 i went into my office to check and you're right! It's g10. I must have been mistaken or just slipped during the video. Thanks!
@ where my thanks?
Haven't even watched the video, but I bet hes going to complain about the secondary lock.
The dudes on tiktoko shop been going crazy with these things. the AR-rpm9 steel's also not the best. powdered or not
I hated that secondary lock so much, I removed it( I have fat fingers and thumbs). I would rather look at the hole where that second lock is….
I don't like the feature either (and won't be buying one with that feature). On their Kickstarter program for the CJRB The Perfect Locust you get to choose with/without the feature) so they seem aware its not the most universally popular feature. I get they may want it there for liability reasons given the larger blade and the larger leverage on the plunge lock but not a very nice solution.
A Py rite? What's that. This is the first of heard of such a knife.
Ugh... If you feel like you need an extra safety for something like this you need to either use your knife more appropriately, or else get a different knife to better fit your use case.
i thought i hate it before now i hate it more now
Meh usually large knives mean tougher tasks so i dont mind that
That's the problem though. As I mentioned, the extra lock does essentially nothing. I got this system to fail pretty easily during an unboxing of a different knife with the same system fully engaged.
@metal_complex ohhh.. i see, yeah no then i completely understand.
I would of got it without the extra stupid lock
Two things: Button locks suck. Can’t wait for the fad to be over. Secondly, awfully tired of everyone taking shots at Benchmade….including this “gentleman”.
Meh, the 2nd lock is unnecessary and its ar-rpm9. I'd take a Ganzo over this for a cheapy
1 view after 1 minute. You’re falling off.
