I had the privilege and honor of singing under the baton of Dr Nathan Carter on a partial music scholarship (without being a music major). I can truly tell anyone that he is and will always be a musical genius. His music lives on in his past students and the arrangements he left behind. I still have ALL my old sheet music from 97-01 and I occasionally pull them out to go down memory lane. Some of the best years of my life were spent singing at Morgan.
I am in this tape LOL I am in the alto's back row. ( You will see Maysa in lower row near orchestra) this was year was at least May of 1990. We were at the Meyerhoff Hall for the annual spring concert...always the first week in May.
Dr. Carter was a genius. He took non-music majors (except the soloists) and made us into a choir that could sing Beethoven in Germany or sign Gospel at the local church. He never turned aside someone who wanted to see. He held auditions, but only to assign a part.

the first time I heard the chior sing this I was a Junior @MSU. It was the Spring concert 1985. I walked in while the chior was singing, ignoring the ushers and just stood in there amazed.
@Gary2837 Hey, Gary, I followed you here and am I ever glad I did. What a superb rendition! I can't help feeling Beethoven is smiling down on this and even he, that brutal perfectionist, would find it flawless. WOW! Thank you!
@Gary2837 The thing about this piece is that it's almost ponderous yet must be performed crisply. Not easy at all. And the soprano part is punishing, hitting that high A right off and then having to sit on that high G, IIRC. This choir nails it. I have more to tell you so yes, let's stay in touch. I was there singing in the choir that night but I don't see myself....I feel like Miss Sally, I can see everybody else but me! LOL What ever happened to Charnita? Not sure if that is how it is spelled. She shows at 444.

The best rendition of this beautiful Beethoven I've heard and seen on the entire TH-cam.
Sang this arrangement in HS in the early 60's. It's pleasure to hear such a professional rendition.

Omg. We r going to song this song at my school for our Christmas Concert. And what's cool about it is that one of my teachers went to that college
