Poor Snoop. His wine kind of sucks but you were nice about it, at least. Sting’s estate makes some pretty decent wines and a higher end one that’s nice, too. He’s apparently pretty involved with it, and I wasn’t surprised it was the better one.

Cracking content, drone footage was a great touch. Any thoughts on flights of common wine styles from countries and similarly, approaches to picking a particular grape variety wine (like pinot noir) from different countries? Also really enjoyed the variety deep dives such as the Riesling videos and found them very informative.

Most of your films are quite educational which I loved, most of people want to know more popular wine to know in detail as well as the foods pairing. even you bring Grand cru, it is more like a one of event to show them. so please keep on own your way and I would appreciated and watching and keep posting in my friends.

Because cannabis (especially when inhaled) tends to dry out the mouth (so I've heard...), this can make consuming wine (especially highly tannic wines) along with cannabis quite unpleasant since it's doubly drying (so I've heard...). So the Snoop method would probably be of little help for the 19 Crimes wine!

  • @tlhuffman

Here's an idea. Select a French wine that has a clearly defined quality designation. Obtain one of each quality. Drink blindly and then reveal whether your assessment of the wine matches the quality designation. Minimize variables other than the quality level as much as possible. Some examples:
    Chablis
    Petit Chablis
    Chablis
    Premiere Cru Chablis
    Grand Cru Chablis
    Left Bank Bordeaux
    Unclassified Bordeaux
    Fifth Growth
    Fourth Growth
    Third Growth
    Second Growth
    Red Burgundy
    Generic Bourgogne
    Village Level Bourgogne
    Premiere Cru Burgundy
    Beaujolais
    Generic Beaujolais
    Beaujolais Villages
    Beaujolais Cru

Anyone else seeing the "apothication" of Calfornia red wine? It's like the marketers are in charge, and Apothic sells impossble quantities of sweet-smoky wine, so let's make every wine taste just like Apothic.

Scores and marketing are powerful for many consumers, and hence, the industry. These are not the kinds of wine that I purchase, nor drink. Worse still are oak, alcohol and tannin bombs that are an assault upon the senses and offer prices that numb my brain. We’re on the same page.

@@dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496 I'm finding it hard to avoid Apothificated wines. I bought an Alexander Valley Cabernet at Costco, the label was "Bound". After a rebate, the $20 bottle was $13-14. Of course it was too good to be true. I would describe it as smoky and sweet, with actual fruit in the backseat.
I'm now mainly drinking Riojas, and from smaller wineries I have visited and tasted their wine.

Here's another idea. Select a good, but not great, wine. Obtain six bottles of exactly the same wine from the same vendor. Taste each in quick succession. Do they taste the same? If not, by how much do they differ?
This exercise could be repeated for different wine regions: France, Italy, California, and others with the goal to determine which wine regions produce the most consistent wines.

@@dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496 Interesting. I have experienced something recently that I would like your opinion on. I can determine if I am going to like a champagne (or California sparkling wine made in the traditional way) in a couple of seconds without even drinking it. All I have to do is sniff. If the wine gives off a yeasty, bready aroma, then I am going to like it. If it does not, then I won't. Is a failure of a champagne to smell yeasty the result of TCA?

@@dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496 Since you have an obviously willing victim, it would be great to document her voyage. I'm pretty sure the tannins will grow on her. It's been too long and I couldn't tell you how it did on me, but I remember I didn't like any of the stuff I now appreciate.
I wouldn't go so far to suggest port to begin, but I'd be interested how she thinks about something like this: www.masdeladeveze.fr/la-gamme/maury-grenat/. Admittedly it's a dessert wine (but one of the most puzzling exceptional ones I've encountered, but of course I'm not a MW but a humble leisurely aficionado) , but I think the natural sugar interacts very well with substance and tannin there. 앗 저번에 말했던 스팅의 와인이 나와서 반갑네요 ㅎㅎ 개인적으로 아이스와인 한번 다뤄주시면 좋겠어요 :)

I think you should also try 3 person format! That way, you have one of 1) wine newbie 2) experienced non-professional and 3) the professor. I think less experienced member should talk first! :)
