@@barrynevin7062 Dude this isn’t a left or right thing. It’s a matter of privatised propaganda. Now I would like to believe you’re one who wants the world to be better. Well I would like to ask you a question. Would you prefer one person, one company or one entity in general to control the means of information in not just one country, but current the entirety of the Anglo-English sphere. Now imagine that hypothetical but it’s so effective it can’t be identified as propaganda unless someone points it out to you. This is what’s happening. A private propaganda model is so much more effective then a state propaganda model as there are multiple sources of lies and building an idea of truth due to the quantity of these stories or enemies or whatever. I understand that you believe that ‘the left’ is just bad and that’s it. But try to think about it. Why would people still vote for them? Who’s swaying public opinion? I employ you to keep this in mind when you read any form of media, regardless of the source. Who’s wanting you to believe what you’re reading?

Murdoch doesn't own SCMP, and SCMP isn't the bad one in HK, it's Apple daily, which is owned by separatist Jimmy Lai, who's now behind bars for conspiring with foreign powers(USA/pompeo etc) to forment violent revolution and HK independence, which is illegal under HK basic law(anti secession laws) but now also illegal to work with foreign govs to hurt your own country under national security law.
Afaik SCMP was recently bought by Jack Ma, or he's at least a majority stakeholder. It still retains its journalistic independence though since they still do many anti China stories and anti China opinion pieces.

This story on media diversity in Australia missed a very important point. This partition was started to also shed light on a new law going through parliament in Australia which would force digital media to pay for the story's that they have copied from regular news organisations, (which I am personally all for), but also, to force digital media to hand over their search algorithm's to regular news organisations. This I am absolutely against, as it would help consolidate the advantage these organisations already have it our media market.
