You saved me an insane amount of time and effort. I was able to spec into this right from comet with very low gold at 74. Honestly it belts bosses faster and does a great job on mobs. I think it can be worth putting several CoF or similar Co meta gems instead of Elemental Invocation to avoid the Dexterity pit. EI Energy Gain Modifier changed to 152% from 143% with elemental invocation - 9% increase. Energy gained per power of frozen enemies from 10>12 - adjusted before scaling.
@@JMTrickz To be honest you don't need it. Get enough spirit to run x2 Cast on Freeze and have enough mana to support it, otherwise just run the one. He likes having EI so he can throw it when he's in a pinch, or to nuke down rares. I'm using The Everlasting Gaze for mana efficiency so I can easily support the build. Currently at 1.1k mana, 1,5k life and 509 ES. Using Eldritch Battery. I don't personally think the Invocation is worth all the dex investment. I need 151 int just to use my wand - I'd have to find all new gear. If the build gets nerfed then you're sitting on a massive respec from dex again. Sorc has *zero* benefit from Dex other than meeting breakpoints for using skill gems. Accuracy rating is useless with this aoe spam build.

Which sucks because the nerfs are healthy, people are just mad that their win button got removed after they built completely into the thing that was clearly unintended and definitely too strong.

They have a free pass because the game is in Early Access, to destroy your time investment, gold, and crafting materials, in the same time they can't make the respec free for the duration of the Early Access TO TEST things ? I transitioned my Cold Chrono into more manual casting.I was already doing it but cast on freeze comet in the background was too good to pass up until now. It's working fine, but it's kinda slow. Manual Comet ( inevitable critical hourglass supercritical ) combined frostbomb+curse, and manual coldsnap ( unleash echo control destruction ) Getting the freezes from scattershot glaciation frostbolt and spell cascade icewalls. Coldsnap on the scatershot frostbolt projectile is actually a decent nuke without freezes.
@@MrStoffzor it sure does but not fireball + frost wall with spell cascade frostwall covers half the screen and the fireballs just explode everything its stupidly powerful against bosses as well i would get these gloves now before they get expensive
If your following goratha, our main problem is crit i think. he is on blood mage and his spells get base 15% crit which is huge. there is not enough crit nodes on the tree for us to be able to catch up to that with only 7% base crit i think
This build is honestly perfect. I was looking for something like this. I wanted to use all elements and not just use ALL lightning or ALL cold or even all fire. I was getting really annoyed with seeing single element builds. This will definitely be used as an inspiration for me to build my sorceress, thank you.
@Tenkiei you're the first POE2 channel i subbed to. Looking forward to the update to see more. Btw I know you technically convert your fire damage, but at least it's using the fireball skill. Lol.
i ended up putting cold snap on CoF instead of comet, its cast speed is low enough that if you invest in energy gain you can get it to cast on two freezes (or every freeze if you hit that 60% to refund half energy) it does have much less aoe than comet, but it has similar damage and eats the frozen proc so i can start to freeze again if they survive. downside is you have to stay relatively close to actually trigger it properly. (thankfully(?) im blood mage, so i want to stay close anyway)
Similar build i am working on, cast on ignite and combine it with a skill that removes ignite, firestorm i believe its called. That way I proc and remove ignite rapidly and repeatedly which causes casts on ignite to machine gun abilities. Your build has given me an idea, cast on freeze and ignite, possibly chaining into each other infinitely. Thanks man!
I'm running this with Everlasting Gaze and Atziri's Disdain for nearly infinite mana and conversion to health which makes me extremely tanky also. Might be worth picking up Mind Over Matter and some MRR nodes and literally become unkillable but I'll need more levels. I'll try it around lvl80 and see. Amazing clear on this build, completed 2nd last trials :) Highly recommend picking up the neck and helmet for survivability, but will set you back around 60ex. Highest achieved burst was 600k at around 5sec on 3rd trial boss. Edit; Just got this neat jewel also - should help extra procs by stacking a few. -------- 14% increased Spell Damage Meta Skills gain 15% increased Energy Gain 10% of maximum Energy Shield as additional Stun Threshold
Love it. Im using comet raw now with spell echo, unleashed und arcane tempo. So most of the times i get 4-6 comets in one cast combined with cast on freeze and comet. Its super fun and effective against bosses.
I ended up finding an innsmouth shabby hood unique with decent chaos resist and 100% increased mana regen and slapped that on until I can find something better.
thanks for the build. but seriously most people i see in chat or forum didn't complain about the nerf but about they don't have a way to come back from it. not everyone play 8 hour a day and have 200-300k spare to respec the build. for me right now it's 5.5k per node. which is a lot consider i get around 3k in pure gold per map and i don't like pick up junk...... yeah
This exactly. Most people aren’t mad at the nerf, they’re mad at them killing builds and not having a good way to recover from it without completely restarting
I agree about the gold, but I can say in general chat, discord, and at least Raxx's twitch, EVERYONE was complaining about the change, nerfing something to oblivion, CoF being dead = cold being dead = sorc being dead = GGG should be sued for charging for Early Access and ruining everyone's evening. You would think that someone killed their dog with how they were raging. It was both sad and hilarious how people were reacting. I want my 1999-2001 gaming community back, not these angry toddlers we have today.

Weird question but I only notice you have spirit on your amulet. How do you get the other 60 to have both CoF+Elemental Incovation on at the same time ?
Maybe when i finish leveling up my next character and they can farm the gold to respec my invoker (whose ascendency has triggers as a mechanic) I'll be able to try something like this.
Hey, thanks for the video. Wanted to ask what would be the priority on spending lesser jeweler orbs to get 3 assists per skill. Those orbs are very rare and limited and want to spend them correctly
I haven't played Blood Mage yet, so this could be wrong but... I think Stormweaver is going to be a lot stronger in the early game, and Blood Mage is probably stronger late game.
I switched to this last night but I made an ES version to solve defensives. Sacrifice all the mana nodes as I don't feel we struggle with mana. I'm rocking about 4k ES and 700 hp with Ghostwrithe and defenses are quite tanky. Not sure about how it will fare in end game though, not there yet.
Great video, I was on Act 3 CoF + cold snap when GGG Thanos snapped. In your opinion, should I continue to go for this build or just switch to arch mage?
I feel super squishy. I went back to some act maps to finish some side stuff, and even there i had to pop potions often. The unique chest + fire res capped should take care of that right? I got same passives, still missing some of the energy cluster. I'm waaay more squishy than the ES version from before. Doesn't look like i will be able to go much higher than t1-2 maps. I guess i need to farm the gold for re-speccing again :P Got only 5ex left, but i kept my prev gear and i guess i can resell what i got now.
The point of this build was to salvage my broken CoF setup and farm currency to properly go ES. It's definitely on the squishy side but does work for T1-5 maps.

Hi I see your build is using Energy Retention as support on Cast on Freeze. However I am in Act 1 Cruel right now and it will still take time for me to get access to level 3 supports. Therefore the solution for the nerf is not available to me yet. Should it not matter that much still though I should comfortably get to the point where i can get it still? Edit: because i am only in act 1 cruel I of course also do not have the proper setup with the 2 uniques and living bomb (would be using my cold staff still)
thank you. I have similar build but my firebolt almost not freezing. I have blueflame for sure and Freeze Buildup in the talent tree. Is it depends on damage or something?
MoM would be an excellent way to continue scaling the defenses with this setup. You can get mana/ES on gear. You'd just need a really good recovery layer.
Try using 3 cast on freeze frost bombs or 2 cast on freeze frost bombs and 1 cast on freeze fire wall in a circle, Its carrying me through crual difficulty
I liked your build and have a similar one. I might change into yours for the sake of easiness. Especially because of fireball. But there is something I do not understand and I hope you can explain to me. What in earth am I gonna do with ice wall and how does it work? I mean I tried to trap the boss in the ice wall and used my frost bomb on it plus whatever I have but I don't see the damage there. Would really appreciate an explanation
I tried…..but sadly the comet from elemental invocation need to be monitored every time when you wanna to cast it for the energy. The play style sucks at least for me….But anyway thank you for your contribution for this build….. I don’t think I will continue sor cause it’s way too weak compared with other classes, unfortunately GGG choose to nerf it and completely destroyed it….
I've been experimenting with Flamewall, to add damage to fireball and generate ignites for Elemental Invocation. But if you just want damage you can use Cold Snap, it's really good while clearing and triggers quickly. Just keep in mind it unfreezes bosses so you might want to take it out for those.
At which level do you suggest switching to your build? I was going for the Frost ball/Comet build at first. I'm still on Act 2 in Standard mode so money is slow to get.
Goratha is doing something very similar on Blood Mage. But if you mean Chronomancer? uuh... you lose out on -40% resistance and later on a ~80% damage multi from shock so it would be severely inferior. Right now Chronomancer is in a really bad spot tbh.
Cast on Freeze is a meta gem, so it works a bit differently. Inspiration is supporting "Comet" and modifying the mana cost (currently going from 237 to 143) not the "Cast on Freeze" meta skill or its reservation.
@@Tenkiei Ahh, thanks. Well, mana really isn't an issue, but thanks for the build. It was expensive to finally get the gloves, but at least I can clear white mobs again (while against bosses I'm a little bit weaker than before).
The weapon set points only matter if you want to have points that change when you swap weapons. I haven't seen anyone find a way to take advantage of them
I would not go this route with the tree no, the crit isn't going to make a big difference and he has tons of points spent into basically choosing not to use a mana flask as much. I would take all the ES nodes 100% over that. Having 2-4k ES vs not using a mana flask as much... the only reason this hasn't bit him in the ass yet is he is still in low tier maps.
I did end up dropping the crit and going CI ---- but originally when I made the video it would have been a huge expense I couldn't afford to swap over to ES gear and do a full respec of the tree. This was far more about saving the broken CoF setup I had, not optimizing something. That said in white maps, with Cloak of Flame it felt pretty good and definitely helped me farm enough currency to stabilize my character.
@Tenkiei seems like every cast on freeze build people put skill points to lighithing damage and use at least one light skill or passive. Im trying to understand why. Im still running tests but seems you can get more Ice damage instead of getting some lighithing damage on the skill three.
Most of those builds probably use "Archmage" it gives you a massive amount of damage as extra lightning. This build does not do that so scaling lightning damage wouldn't be too effective. Instead it scales cold damage, but the later versions in better gear use Archmage and thus scale lightning.
@@Tenkiei im on ending game and i dont want to use lighithing, its weird i know. But im trying to keep Ice and fire with the gloves to convert damage. During the acts i didnt have any issues but to late game plays with the wall its its hard. Specially for bridges
I have 77 dexterity currently. Your gear might be a bit different so you'll need more dex on your tree or items. I added a note with a reminder about this.
He explained it, you have to get it through your amulet. Also remember you need to clear azak bog boss in act 3 cruel to get bonus spirit. in total you need 120
Fireball is mainly used there to break ice walls for dmg on trash as we lost the frequent triggers its the most sustained way to deal good dmg outside boss fight atleast for now. Buy the gloves till they reach 15ex, bought them for 1ex😅
I can't say for sure without further testing, but for now I'd say yes. I tried Frostbolt and Eye of Winter, neither broke frost walls or cleared as efficiently.

Hi, could someone please advise me on how to get the Elemental Invocation gem? I have no idea where I'm playing Sorcerer, I'm level 68 and this isn't an option to make in my games.
@@ZepTex95 Technically the added Fire Damage will be calculated pre 100% conversion so it should work. The same way the Mercs stack phys and fire damage since the gas cloud explosion are 100% phys converted to fire.
@@katastrophicbtw interesting. So I’m very curious how that works then. So if my my weapon physical damage is being converted into fire using a skill, I should only scale the converted element? Why does + 100 %elemental damage of skill on the weapon is worst than flat phys. I’m now confused hehe.
@stoffies I had a lot of leveling uniques to help out, so not sure if it applies to you, but I was wearing Enfolding Dawn, Lifesprig and a really good shield to head through the act with spark/flamewall. It's a decent slog.
I swapped to it in the endgame, so I'm not sure how early you can do it. But I'd guess you use Spark/Flamewall for much longer now (possibly until 65).
well, since the whole system is not wanted that way, it will probably be nerfed too. i stop playing until i get a respec or 1.0 release... big l from ggg
I tried that but not with 120 spirit. Its unplayable and hurts eyez alot if u gon constantly watching on it. Do not recommend it at all and try something else instead.
Get Dexterity/Intelligence on gear (and then swap nodes on the tree accordingly) or use a low level Spirit Gem for less Dex. I have 77 Dex so I can use a L14 Invocation.

I'm glad you like it. Personally I've been leaning more towards ele invocation despite the dex because it's nice to control when the comet goes off.

The point of this build was to salvage my broken CoF setup and farm currency to properly go ES. It's definitely on the squishy side but does work for T1-5 maps.

Hi I see your build is using Energy Retention as support on Cast on Freeze. However I am in Act 1 Cruel right now and it will still take time for me to get access to level 3 supports. Therefore the solution for the nerf is not available to me yet. Should it not matter that much still though I should comfortably get to the point where i can get it still? Edit: because i am only in act 1 cruel I of course also do not have the proper setup with the 2 uniques and living bomb (would be using my cold staff still)
same here. If like me and you someone was CoF and just finished campaign and was half through cruel 1 (like me) it's literally dead caracter...

Freeze mostly, then a bit from Cloak of Flame. I fixed it recently by going ES/CI, you can check out my newest video for that!
AnyIs there anyway to use MOM in any of those builds for more defense?
MoM would be an excellent way to continue scaling the defenses with this setup. You can get mana/ES on gear. You'd just need a really good recovery layer.
thoughts about going 1h + scepter and running 3 cof? for more comets
I'd rather go with a 1h/shield and lean into hard casting more.

Try using 3 cast on freeze frost bombs or 2 cast on freeze frost bombs and 1 cast on freeze fire wall in a circle, Its carrying me through crual difficulty
With only frost wall and Frost Bomb, How is Freeze triggered on this build?
I liked your build and have a similar one. I might change into yours for the sake of easiness. Especially because of fireball. But there is something I do not understand and I hope you can explain to me. What in earth am I gonna do with ice wall and how does it work? I mean I tried to trap the boss in the ice wall and used my frost bomb on it plus whatever I have but I don't see the damage there. Would really appreciate an explanation

I tried…..but sadly the comet from elemental invocation need to be monitored every time when you wanna to cast it for the energy. The play style sucks at least for me….But anyway thank you for your contribution for this build….. I don’t think I will continue sor cause it’s way too weak compared with other classes, unfortunately GGG choose to nerf it and completely destroyed it….

I've been experimenting with Flamewall, to add damage to fireball and generate ignites for Elemental Invocation. But if you just want damage you can use Cold Snap, it's really good while clearing and triggers quickly. Just keep in mind it unfreezes bosses so you might want to take it out for those.

At which level do you suggest switching to your build? I was going for the Frost ball/Comet build at first. I'm still on Act 2 in Standard mode so money is slow to get.
I swapped to it around level 72, so I'm not too sure about when it would start working in the early game.

I have a bit of incidental strength on my gear. But you don't really need str for anything just int/dex

My Elemental Invocation is toggled on but when it reaches 100% it just stays there. I don’t see it trigger comet and reset to zero. Any ideas?

Goratha is doing something very similar on Blood Mage. But if you mean Chronomancer? uuh... you lose out on -40% resistance and later on a ~80% damage multi from shock so it would be severely inferior. Right now Chronomancer is in a really bad spot tbh.

The highest I've done is tier V now. But I also haven't dropped very many higher tier maps yet.

How the hell did you get Inspiration into Cast on Freeze? The gem clearly states it doesn't work on Spirit gems?
Cast on Freeze is a meta gem, so it works a bit differently. Inspiration is supporting "Comet" and modifying the mana cost (currently going from 237 to 143) not the "Cast on Freeze" meta skill or its reservation.
@@Tenkiei Ahh, thanks. Well, mana really isn't an issue, but thanks for the build. It was expensive to finally get the gloves, but at least I can clear white mobs again (while against bosses I'm a little bit weaker than before).

Is there any reason why you don't use your 24 weapon set points? That are 24 wasted passive skill points, aren't it?
They are not additional points just alternative
The weapon set points only matter if you want to have points that change when you swap weapons. I haven't seen anyone find a way to take advantage of them
is survivability on this ok without ES? i'm towards end of act 6, and get 1-2 shot by many things, granted i dont have as strong resists as you
I would not go this route with the tree no, the crit isn't going to make a big difference and he has tons of points spent into basically choosing not to use a mana flask as much. I would take all the ES nodes 100% over that. Having 2-4k ES vs not using a mana flask as much... the only reason this hasn't bit him in the ass yet is he is still in low tier maps.

I did end up dropping the crit and going CI ---- but originally when I made the video it would have been a huge expense I couldn't afford to swap over to ES gear and do a full respec of the tree. This was far more about saving the broken CoF setup I had, not optimizing something.
That said in white maps, with Cloak of Flame it felt pretty good and definitely helped me farm enough currency to stabilize my character.
You can run this build without lighithing? Seems better commit to fire and ice.

@Tenkiei seems like every cast on freeze build people put skill points to lighithing damage and use at least one light skill or passive. Im trying to understand why. Im still running tests but seems you can get more Ice damage instead of getting some lighithing damage on the skill three.
Most of those builds probably use "Archmage" it gives you a massive amount of damage as extra lightning. This build does not do that so scaling lightning damage wouldn't be too effective. Instead it scales cold damage, but the later versions in better gear use Archmage and thus scale lightning.
@@Tenkiei im on ending game and i dont want to use lighithing, its weird i know. But im trying to keep Ice and fire with the gloves to convert damage. During the acts i didnt have any issues but to late game plays with the wall its its hard. Specially for bridges
You can do that, just keep in mind you'll have less than 1/3rd of the damage you should once you get really good gear.

Hello, Elemental invocation need 54 dexterity but you're build doesn't give enough dex ! What's the matter ?
I have 77 dexterity currently. Your gear might be a bit different so you'll need more dex on your tree or items. I added a note with a reminder about this.

He explained it, you have to get it through your amulet.
Also remember you need to clear azak bog boss in act 3 cruel to get bonus spirit. in total you need 120
@ yeah I was missing the Act 3 buff when finishing campaign. Must’ve overlooked it. It feels decent now.
Does this build only work with those unique gloves?
You can also use frostbolt with scattershot to proc the freezes.
The gloves aren’t expensive right now though
Fireball is mainly used there to break ice walls for dmg on trash as we lost the frequent triggers its the most sustained way to deal good dmg outside boss fight atleast for now. Buy the gloves till they reach 15ex, bought them for 1ex😅

I can't say for sure without further testing, but for now I'd say yes. I tried Frostbolt and Eye of Winter, neither broke frost walls or cleared as efficiently.

No you convert your fire damage to ice
@@ZepTex95 Technically the added Fire Damage will be calculated pre 100% conversion so it should work. The same way the Mercs stack phys and fire damage since the gas cloud explosion are 100% phys converted to fire.

No, all fire damage is converted to cold, thus scales off of increases to cold.

You can run it at level 41 when Comet is available, but you might run into mana problem real quick.

@stoffies I had a lot of leveling uniques to help out, so not sure if it applies to you, but I was wearing Enfolding Dawn, Lifesprig and a really good shield to head through the act with spark/flamewall. It's a decent slog.

I swapped to it in the endgame, so I'm not sure how early you can do it. But I'd guess you use Spark/Flamewall for much longer now (possibly until 65).

I tried that but not with 120 spirit. Its unplayable and hurts eyez alot if u gon constantly watching on it. Do not recommend it at all and try something else instead.

level 10 requires like 46
Get Dexterity/Intelligence on gear (and then swap nodes on the tree accordingly) or use a low level Spirit Gem for less Dex. I have 77 Dex so I can use a L14 Invocation.
