So funny that you took that much care making a dog house and you don't have a dog, I can't stop smiling!!! I'm currently building a dog house for my two Labs and I've gotten to the point of making the roof, not knowing how to "build a roof" I naturally turned to TH-cam & I believe you are the only one to really say how you made your a-frame roof, angles, etc. so thank you! I look forward to watching your other videos!
This is glorious, been searching for "how to build an a frame dog house" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Ganyan Canicholas Formula - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my m8 got cool results with it.
Reading some of the comments on this one I applaud you for sticking with TH-cam to get where you are today. I'd have been banned for calling people idiots on these earlier videos
Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs th-cam.com/users/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.
WOW, WOW, WOW!!! This is amazing. Unfortunately, I will never be able to do this. I am trying to source tutorials for dog houses for a dog shelter - the cheapest I can do as they have no funds x But this is a fabulous tutorial - many thanks for uploading x
Rag 'n' Bone Brown I am in the UK - the shelter is in Romania (where there are no animal abuse laws - so many horrific things happen to the poor souls) I have sent funds and workmen are making them - but alas, they are nothing like your luxury house here. x
facebook.com/groups/310249062479483/ link to facebook page for shelter x Most of these dogs do not have any shelter from the elements and their winters are VERY harsh, some don't survive!
+Mel Kennedy Looks like a really great cause. I wish i could help build some shelters, but as I can't I'll donate some money instead. Thank you for sharing this page with me.
Keith Brown No worries x Thanks for taking a look. (did you see my dog houses? they are far from your superior build)! But whatever keeps the dogs dry and as warm as possible x
Nice dog house; now all you need is to buy a pooch, preferably something butch like a Rottweiler or similar to fill it in. You've done it very well. Hope you find someone to buy it. Kind regards.
I enjoyed to see building of dog house and i think it helps me a lot for building two houses for my two dogs. Now i am going to search woods in my garden and going to build it . Thanks a lot.
I enjoyed watching this, and realised how much easier it must be to use power tools than the way I'm doing it. I'm using scraps so they don't waste, so totally understand your using your leftovers though you don't have a dog. The dog that got it was lucky.
I use kitchen scissors to cut felt. Tar can be left on them so they are then my shed scissors. The polyester backed felt is far less prone to tearing when fitting as well. More expensive though but is 15 year stuff

Great woodworking channel! I follow quite a few of the American woodworkers on TH-cam which are also great but it's nice to see a good hobby woodworker from the UK with a workshop that looks more like mine! I think your videos are really nicely paced with no nonsense padding them out! looking forward to more.
Compliments on a super job! The speedvideo with voiceover is also a great way to condense a project into a modest length. You have a nice shop, and skills! We would have used shingles for the roofing material, just like we do on our houses here in much of the US. Also, I would have put a 1inch thick piece of expanded styrofoam under the floor as both a vapor/moisture barrier and insulator, nonetheless... great job! Any pooch would be proud of this home! Greets from Connecticut!
This is like my dog Gruffy's house. It was large enough for myself, sister and our nephew to hide in. The roof could unlatch so we could sweep (fluffy girl), take out her bed and give it a cleaning.
I built one in craft & design (wood work) while at school, it lasted 5 dogs and 20 odd years in Scottish weather . I’m sure it would have still been standing if my mum didn’t buy smaller dogs that could have used it as a mansion
I love watching your work. Really inspiring keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. Thanks for sharing your skills and for doing it with tools and a shop which isn't beyond the reach of those starting out.
I have all the tools I could afford. Great tools, many bought second hand. I have a buddy with all the Festools. He looks at anything I have with disdain, even though I cam accomplish most anything he can with what I have. There is an old saying, "Do what you can, with what you got"...
I don't have a dog though I still enjoyed watching this build! Keith just a thought but why not maybe make a modern version of this build now with your improved camera quality and tools. I see this video was very popular so just an idea 👍
1 thing everyone forgets when building a dog house is insulating it. It's very important especially if you're going to have an outside dog because it gets cold at night, Being in just a wooden box doesn't protect you much from the cold, but having it insulated keeps the warmth from the dog warm. Also, When it's warm outside the insulation keeps the cooler air from at night and in the morning hours inside the doghouse during the hot parts of the day so your dog stays cooler. I believe at Lowe's and Home Depot they sell those big boards of like Styrofoam insulation you could use that wouldn't be harmful to your dog breathing in any particles because it's a solid piece. You wouldn't build a house with no insulation, so why would you for your dog?
Hi, I noticed you use 3 cordless drills. pilot, counter and screw. Have you tried the pilot / counter in one drill bits ?. I'm wondering if they are worth getting ?
You can be more accurate if they are seperate, also depending on how deep you will be wanting to drill if it is a combo bit you will need to drill the full length of the bit thus you may have to drill through your pieces
instead of doing the top of the doorway freehand it would have been bettr if you use a dinnerplate or some other spherical/round object for a nicer shape.
I am doing a similar project but am stuck on what to use for roofing material since my dogs like to lay on top of their dog houses like goats. Any ideas? I have tared it already but wasn't too sure if there was something better than traditional shingles.
Can’t believe I’m recommended this 6 years later. 🤣🤣 just as I’m planning to make one too. I recently repaired my garden gate with t&g cladding and got it from b&q and had a lot of issues with it warping badly and bowing the entire gate. Do you think it’s best to get timber from timber merchants rather than diy retailers. I do have a local timber merchants with good reviews. Might give them a try. I know you get you’re timber from timber merchants don’t you. Think you’ve said that in a previous video.
Bless your heart.... You are clearly a hard working soul. One of "Man's best friends" will enjoy this well made home. Thank you for caring.
I very much enjoyed this video and am quite sure the lucky dog who lives in this house will be quite happy doing so.

Hey bro he kan't shop this it's not problem 😉😉👍
The puppy that owns that house is going to live like a King. Very good work and thank you for teaching how to do it

I love how your production value and tools have improved over the years, nice to see you doing so well for yourself!
Excellent build very professional.
Like the floor and siding. We built a dog house today for my Husky named Titan. Great video! Thumbs up.
Oh to have this much talent (and that many tools). We need you to come to Portugal and make houses for our shelter dogs!
Nice. I gave Mine a hinged at the back roof. That makes it a lot easier to change and clean blankets etc
WOW!!!! Beautiful! I could live in it!
at last someone with a workshop the same size as mine.. thought the kennel was great, well done.
Haha thanks Archie. Luckily I was taught to make the most of what I've got! Small but does the job

The way this was built so perfect and neat, man you might as well build an add-on kitchen ,toilet & bath for that dog when you get one, well done...!
You did a great job
Nice dog house. Lucky dog.🙂
Fine build.

The test at last, quite responsible, haha.
I will love to purchase one for my dogs. Well done.
That could make a nice tiny house for a dwarf who wants to live off grid too.

I Built a dog house much like this one when I was 12 using just a jigsaw and a drill. It has lasted along time, and is showing no signs of ageing!!
very easy.if you have all these tools in your garage.or if you are a carpenter
This is like my dog Gruffy's house. It was large enough for myself, sister and our nephew to hide in. The roof could unlatch so we could sweep (fluffy girl), take out her bed and give it a cleaning.
Really nice DIY working channel. I enjoy watching your videos, greeting from NZ :-)
I love it
Thank vermat, fantastic Brasil.
I don't understand 'tapping' nails to set them. But seeing this guy climb out of the dog house kinda put it all in perspective for me.
Thank you dear!
Fabulous !! I want to make one but I dont have the band saw...jigsaw etc etc.
Nice job! Great way to use leftover lumber. Nice touch on the doorway.
Wonderful job i like your videos. ...thank you for share..I'm from Sri Lanka
Nice setup!
Muito bonita,sensacional.,belo trabalho.
Blimey you have come on a bit from then to now . Had to look at the date :)
Nice job
15:02 after one beer , yes why not climbing in the dog house
Very entertaining. Enjoyed watching the build. Brilliant.
Your 2x6 slabs looks like a pretty healthy sized 2x6 mate. Haha
Perfect dog House
I built one in craft & design (wood work) while at school, it lasted 5 dogs and 20 odd years in Scottish weather . I’m sure it would have still been standing if my mum didn’t buy smaller dogs that could have used it as a mansion
thank you, all my wood working, and this is the first time i ever build rafters, lol. you helped immensely!
better than my house
Be grateful
Same. I live in a van down by the river. I'm on that Walmart wifi
At least you know you will fit when "she whom must be obeyed" has sent you to the dog house.
I love watching your work. Really inspiring keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. Thanks for sharing your skills and for doing it with tools and a shop which isn't beyond the reach of those starting out.
Hahahahahaha i love it i got all the way to the end then he goes "yeah i dont actually own a dog!" hahahaha amazing
Omg now he's in it himself hahahahaha quality!!!
Best constructed dog house on the net. But what about that litter of puppies you have in your pants ..wow
Perfect job,love it !!!!!
Awesome!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
love hoy the video started right away with what i wanted to see. the explanation was also great, direct..
wonderful
Cool channel, nice to find someone on youtube thats from england and doesn't have £1000's worth of festools etc.
I have all the tools I could afford. Great tools, many bought second hand. I have a buddy with all the Festools. He looks at anything I have with disdain, even though I cam accomplish most anything he can with what I have. There is an old saying, "Do what you can, with what you got"...
I've decided to make an attempt at building this!!!
Did you nail the felt down?
how much did u sell it for just wondering?
We shall never know
I really enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing!
I don't have a dog though I still enjoyed watching this build! Keith just a thought but why not maybe make a modern version of this build now with your improved camera quality and tools. I see this video was very popular so just an idea 👍
Very nice. I really enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing them!
Thank you Michael :-)
U should have used a countersink drill bit so the drill bit has the sink built on it
James Bolton Haven't got one
wen fitting ship lap where the two boards over lap screw a screw into the board underneath and it will hide any screws :)
very nice, I like it....I think I will build one like yours soon :) Thanks!

When the dog helps with the mortgage he can have insulation
@ terry made my day LOL
and all wolf houses in the world are insulated too .............:):):):)
I was wondering if he was going to insulate it or not...
Dogs don't need insulation! They have a fur coat! It's only a recent thing that dogs have been allowed inside the house
the longest commercial for a dog house
Very very very nice :)
I love it, when can I move in?
the band saw sounded like it was screaming😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
thats some seriously fast hammering X-D
Any long term issues in using roof felt exposed ? Finishing up a dog house and looking for inexpensive roofing options
The felt is replaceable but it lasts for years
Thanks..👍👍

Eu quero uma casinha desta!!!
GOOD VIDEO MY FRIEND !!!
👍 the perfect dove house
You should make dog kennel's and sell them as that look's awesome! i would definatly buy that if i lived closer lol
wery good job i like this video

Bucco wanted me to tell you that he thinks this is a fine dog house and video! 😀👍
Cheers Bucco! And John! ✌️
Excellent job mate! Good to see another video from you. Jealous that you are skinny enough to fit inside!
Thank you! It was a tight squeeze
Can’t believe I’m recommended this 6 years later. 🤣🤣 just as I’m planning to make one too. Sometimes you use screws, other times nails. How do you decide?
I think when it's small strips then finish nails if a board then screws
Would this work for a large German shepherd or is it to small I’m not sure incase I waste materials
Great vid! I was wondering how I was about to do the roof, now I have an idea thank you! 😃
Nice
Thanks
Very well made and looks great. I think you should get a dog for it :-)
All the best
Tony
is there a parts list available
nice and simple well done =D did you ever sell it
