In this episode of Mountains of karnataka we have visited one of the famous trekking place near bangalore. Devarayanadurga is a fortified hill and located nine miles east of Tumkur town. Its in the midst of picturesque landscape and at an altitude of 3940 feet. There are three elevations and seven gates that lead a trekker to the summit. Lakshmi-Narasimha Swamy Temple is on the lowest elevation. There is a spring, Ane-done, nestled near the first elevation. There is a pond on the slope that is believed to be the source of Mangali. A little higher on the Trekking Trail, there is another small spring known as Jaya-tirtha.
It hosts the famous natural water spring Namada Chilume, a small stream of water coming out of the ground. Devarayanadurga also plays host to Yellow Throated Bulbul, which is an endangered bird.
ದೇವರಾಯಣದುರ್ಗವು ಕೋಟೆಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತುಮಕೂರು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಪೂರ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂಬತ್ತು ಮೈಲಿ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಇದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಭೂದೃಶ್ಯದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಮತ್ತು 3940 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಮೂರು ಎತ್ತರ ಮತ್ತು ಏಳು ದ್ವಾರಗಳಿವೆ, ಅದು ಚಾರಣಿಗನನ್ನು ಶಿಖರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ-ನರಸಿಂಹ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಮೊದಲ ಎತ್ತರದ ಬಳಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಒಂದು ವಸಂತಕಾಲವಿದೆ. ಇಳಿಜಾರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಕೊಳವಿದೆ, ಅದು ಮಂಗಲಿಯ ಮೂಲವೆಂದು ನಂಬಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಚಾರಣದ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಜಯ-ತೀರ್ಥ ಎಂಬ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಬುಗ್ಗೆ ಇದೆ.
ಇದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ನೀರಿನ ಬುಗ್ಗೆಯಾದ ನಮಡಾ ಚಿಲುಮೆ, ನೆಲದಿಂದ ಹೊರಬರುವ ಸಣ್ಣ ನೀರಿನ ಹರಿವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
