    I actually like this mix more than the original! I bought it as SOON as I heard Tony Humphries play it during a 98.7-Kiss Mastermix Dance Party back in 1994. Peace.

    Picked this CD single up in the early 90's, probably at a Tower, Amoeba, or Rasputin's... Anyway, this bass hit harder than most of my Miami Bass tracks. It sneaks up on you too. Excellent track!

    Maybe few didn't understand what this remix is all about... CJ and people didn't even tried to make it better than the original, which is perfect. But to create another mood, bringing this song to the Undergound House sound which was made at the time. Doing this, they created such an underground masterpiece, taking on every piece of this true Diva vocals and filling the floor! Thanks for sharing, bro!

    May Aretha's soul rest in sweet heaven. She will always be "THE"...one and ONLY...Queen of Soul.

    Listening to the CD single right now. This dark and moody mix downright smokes! CJ Mackintosh and Satoshi Tomiie combine to make this a righteous classic. Outstanding! Kudos to RJNY for the upload.

    The Queen is dead. Long Live The Queen. And since no one can replace her, melt that throne right now. RIP, Ms. Franklin.

    I had this CD single back in the day, I LOVED this mix!! It was such a happy bonus, cause I loved Willing To Forgive, but I have always been a house head first and foremost.

    All Hail the Queen of Soul and May she Rest In Peace!!!!This remix is fantastic!!! The Queen would be Proud of that Masterful Mix!!!!! The original cut was released in 1983 during what is called the 'Post Disco Era". By 84-85 house music was emerging. That would have been one hell of a mix to play in the clubs during that time. AAMOF the Queen might have performed it like that live! Great work!!!.👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

    Pretty rare remix - in that Satoshi Tomiie himself provided extra keyboard work to make this CJ Mackintosh remix a little darker than expected. But I still love it.

    No no no!!! What have they done. The original was sung with such intensity, emotion and feeling. This mix just doesnt have that same impact. You can't make the already prefect song better :( what made it such a great track was the sense of nostalgia it created in the listener. Its one of those songs that is just ment to be left alone. Its already a timeless classic!!!

      This mix was good enough for Frankie Knuckles to play in heavy rotation

    • @sawolaja65
      @sawolaja65 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Lalovision3D just because it was played in heavy rotation by Frankie knuckles doesn't mean that the descerning listener will take to it! I'm old school and have the original album on vinyl (might I add) where this song was the lead track. In its original format I personally think it can't be beaten. The original mix still holds its own today (studio album released in May 1982) and remains current and relevant alongside tracks of this decade. This album set included the stand out anthem "Jump to it" and others such as "love me right" - (Luther Vandross on backing vocals) and "if she don't want your lovin".... so I'll respectfully agree to disagree and continue to indulge my discerning ears with the dulcet tones that are Aretha at her very best.

      @@sawolaja65 😅 Thats a well written reply.
      I only collect and play vinyl. Many styles of music. Many decades covered.
      I don’t feel the need to compare this to that. I take it for what it is. This track is dope. I might have not paid as much attention to it, had it not been for hearing it in Frankie Knuckles mixes. I kind of realized in retrospect, that he had an insight and knowledge into DJ’ing, that surpassed many. I hope I continue to have my eyes (ears) opened, in regards to music. Be it by another Frankie mix, or by a random person in the TH-cam comments.

    sorry, i think this is a terrible attempt at trying to bring a dance/club classic to the modern house style, it misses the mark, and the original sass of the original. *with all due r.e.s.p.e.c.t of course.

      @Lalovision3D 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve said it before. Frankie Knuckles caned this version often. Says a lot.

    Maybe the most unnecessary remix ever to be remixed.
