It's funny how people keep saying 'cats don't need baths they can clean themselves'. Yes cats do clean themselves but what if a cat was covered in mud or paint. They can't lick that off their body, so baths are sometimes necessary. Secondly, this is NOT ABUSE!. The cats are falling in the bath, and in some of these the owners are helping the cats out. If this is animal abuse, then seeing a child slip and fall over is child abuse.

To everyone saying this is "animal abuse", bathing a cat is a necessity in most cases. It is ridiculous to protest against bathing by using the argument, "Cats don't need baths because they clean themselves." Do you not need to shower or bathe if you lick yourself? If you have dirt, grime, or even some type of chemical on you, can you just use your skillful tongue and everything will be perfectly fine? It is more harmful to the cat if s/he ends up ingesting the toxins and dirt. Dirt and grime is filled with germs and harmful bacteria. Sure, most cats do not like water. Believe it or not there are a lot of people who do not like water (for hygiene purposes), either. Does this strong dislike justify someone neglecting their hygiene? A lot of babies don't enjoy their first couple of baths. Does this justify the parent(s) neglecting the baby's hygienic need? Would you agree with them if they used the argument, "My baby can just lick herself clean"?

This is false. If your cat gets paint on him/herself, would you want it to lick it off? No, you wouldn't, as paint could be harmful to an animal. If any type of chemical were to get onto a cat it would be entirely necessary to bathe them - it would be more harmful to let the poor thing lick it off, which would also be considered neglectful. Neglect is a form of abuse - more specifically animal abuse in this case.
Also, I find it quite funny how you called me a troll and unnecessarily insulted me. When I didn't respond, you tagged me once more only in an attempt to get a rise out of me. That's pretty immature on your part and I have no idea why my original post struck a nerve in you.

My old cats, Licorice and Scamper, loved water. They loved getting baths. In fact, when I cleaned the fish tank, I would move the fish into the bathtub in the meantime. Scamper would jump in and bat them with his paw. The fish thought it was a game. They would dart within range and shoot away from Scamper's paw. Scamper didn't have claws. He was born without claws. Our big black gold fish liked being batted by Scamper. It kept going back to be hit again. My current cats, Katie Jane and Rascal, are not fond of water. Katie Jane doesn't fight it, but she'll make sure the entire neighborhood knows she doesn't like baths. Rascal? Have EMTs on standby, and the blood bank ready. He fights it tooth and nail. This is blood curdling screams, claws and teeth shredding what skin they can, and up to five people fighting to get the cat bathed. Rascal has heavy dandruff so he gets baths every two weeks. To make it easier on everyone involved, Rascal is given a shot that makes him sleepy so he doesn't fight it so much.

When I was a kid we had a calico that loved water. As a kitten I use to carry him in my arms into the shower and hed lay there purring while soaking up the worm water. Full grown he'd walk into the shower whenever someone was stepping in and lay by your feet. He would also join us for baths and even swam in our pool on his own accord. He was such a silly kitty.

I know it's a tiny nit pick, but, are you sure it was a male? Doesn't actually matter now, but it's interesting that the calico pattern rarely adorns a male cat. It only exists with the combination of 2 X chromosomes (female.)
When a male calico does happen, they look like this: XXY and are often sterile.

My cat is so sweet, but he gets nasty dandruff sometimes so we have to bathe him. Instead of trying to run, he just stands there, meows pitifully every now and then, and shivers all over until it's done.

He refuses to eat wet cat food, so we spray water on his hard cat food. He's been having less dandruff now.
You may want to try using a damp washcloth to make it better for him, it's a lot more similar to them just being groomed.
Myathewolfeh1 try coconut oil, just massage it into his fur...it has added bonus of getting rid of fleas too and as your cat naturally licks it the oil is good for them

***** Huh, didn't know that. I played DK64 a LITTLE, but couldn't really get into it. I remember in Banjo Tooie though, whenever I seen one of those metal mole things with a green light, I swear I could feel my eyes dilating and heart begin racing.
The moves you could learn in the game were awesome, and I'd do my best to memorize things I could see which I couldn't get to. Either the mole would teach me a way to get to a place I couldn't before, possibly finding a new area to venture in for more secrets and funny characters (those hamburger/hotdog guys at the circus were disgusting, but funny :P), or simply giving me a more effective way of dispatching enemies.
Every attack/maneuver was an adventure in and of itself to learn and master. To see what new places/people/things could be discovered. Banjo Tooie is easily one of my most favourite N64 games :)

It is just me or does that cat have a very strange resemblance to another cat called "Burger and Fries"
I would say, "Oh no! Why didn't the owners help them get out?" But after owning cats, I know that trying to get them out would just end up in a lot of scratch marks and an angry cat. Although I don't like to see the cat struggle, he or she will find a way out of it. And if they don't get out on their own within 10-15 seconds, I can see reason for the owner to help them out.

I just don't understand why people bathe their cats. I've had kitties my whole life and they always smelled good...like kitties should smell. I suppose I can justify bathing them if they are outdoor cats and they get garbage or waste all over them, but I'd never routinely bathe my kitties. They know how to keep clean.
Well some of these cats accidentally fell in the tub too, the rest of them probably did need a bath for important reasons.
+§paethon Humans really don't stay outdoors too much either but we get dirty. It's just part of living is that we naturally get dirty from physiological byproducts. To each their own but I prefer bathing them because they smells better and for health reasons.

+Got Jams Usually I'm with you and I find it absurd how many of these pet videos are just filled with people crying "animal cruelty" when all that's happening is owners taking care of their pet, sometimes getting them to do something they don't necessarily want to do. But who bathes cats? Cats clean themselves, like, constantly. I've owned four outdoor cats in my life and the only time I ever had to wash one was when he was almost dead at 20 years old and wouldn't realize when he was shitting. Otherwise, it's weird to me that people feel the need to bathe their cats. Cats hate water a lot more than dogs do, and cats don't usually get as smelly and stinky as a dog might. Every cat I've had has been compulsive about immediately cleaning itself.
Dogs hating baths videos are just fun because usually it's just the dog reluctantly doing what he/she's told and dogs really do need to be bathed or they will start to smell terrible, but cats truly are terrified of water, and unlike dogs, the vast majority of them cannot swim.

I love my cat very much but the little guy likes to roll in dog muck :/ I could be mean and just let him lick it off, and never let him back inside again. But nope I bath the little sod so when it's raining, snowing or just very cold he can sleep indoors.

Perhaps. But not all cats are completely indoor cats and they do enjoy sitting under cars from what I've observed. And cars sometimes leak fluids and not all of them safe for cats.
And that's just one example. Like others said, fleas, fertilizer, etc. My friend had to give his cat a bath when she had a run-in with a skunk. The poor things.
My uncle had a cat who LOVED water, I mean like he would jump in the sink when you were doing the dishes and would get in the shower with you, it was more annoying than cute because he'd take FOREVER to dry off and get water everywhere like a wet towel.

You're telling me that if I owned a cat, I should just leave it alone? If a cat gets dirty, it's going to get washed whether it likes it or not. Especially if it manages to get covered in something that'd be horrible if it ate...and most times even if they do manage to clean their fur off if they got into something that was really smelly they're going to stink and still require a fucking bath.
NightStar787 Only if they really do. My cat has stayed inside all her life and has never needed a bath. I know it’s a difference to when cats go outside. The only time we needed to clean her was when her butt was dirty and we used some toilet paper to clean her butt but we didn’t throw her into the bath tub. Bathing a cat should only happen when a vet has ordered it or the cat is definitely not able to clean itself anymore

My cat like me was bathing then then the cat walked on the edge of the bath and then they slipped and fell into the water and he normally swam!
Cats shouldn't be given baths anyway. The only times a cat would need to be bathed is for flea treatment or to wash something off that would be bad for it to wash it themselves.
Or if they're to old to clean themselvs or if they're a bald breed or if they have a skin condition that requires special shampoo.

I've had plenty of cats the needed a bath. Usually when they are weened too young or they've been abandoned, their natural instincts are slow to kick in and thus require assistance in bathing. This is why they make special shampoo for cats.
It also happens that some cats just really like water. I had a cat who would jump in the bath tub if you didn't close the door.
RapidNameChange No, special shampoo's were made to make money off idiots who chose to bath their cats. If your cat comes in with shit all over him then bath him in water, nothing extra is needed. I've had a cat for years and only ever had to wash his feet once when he was young, maybe it's the environment they live in, people who aren't so hygenic in their own home then maybe their cats might smell but cats can keep themselves very well on their own.
