Shockingly I was a Namco (Aladdin's Castle specifically) arcade attendant in Pennsylvania during the late 90s and had the privilege of not only playing this game but working on it a few times, as well as loading in prizes and, later, tickets.

I was visiting some friends of mine about 6 years ago. We were at a amusement park/ arcade. Inside they had Godzilla Wars Jr. My friends had some fun, but I was too busy loving the art and the Godzilla figure.
2:38 hey we had that in arcades in Guadalajara (city in Mexico) I loved it, seasonal festivals and carnivals held at my hometown called Chapala which was 1 hour away from Guadalajara would also often have this on arcade stalls, which yes they were a thing, it was a small carp or tent that would have 4 to 5 arcade cabinets and 1 or 2 games on the same style as the godzilla jr game, I remember seeing this for the first time when I was like 6 and I completely lost it, I had to be dragged out by my dad because I didn't want to leave.
As adorable as that game is, that ending was awfully grim. XD I love getting to see these more obscure pieces of Godzilla memorabilia. I know that other tokusatsu franchises had arcade games. A video highlighting some of those (like with the Compati-Hero reviews) would be cool.
So glad you got to cover this. I remember playing this as a kid at an arcade in Lake Grove Long Island called Space Plex, and I think later at Sports Plus. I didn't even play it for tickets, I really loved when Godzilla did his little jig when you got the jackpot. Also, I used to get this one confused with a game that Namco made a year later called "Belly Bomber" . Where a monster would move side to side and you used these "bombs" on sliders to throw into the monster's belly to attack him. Awesome stuff as always MIB, you're always welcome to come play my Godzilla Pinball if you ever make it to Florida!
In 2000, my family vacationed to Florida for a week at a special foundation. They had a whole village to explore, including an arcade. It some typical arcade classics like Ms.Pac-Man as well as a not so typical game set up where it’s just a PS1 hooked up to a tv with a beanbag chair in front of it. However, the thing that caught my eye was the Godzilla Wars Jr cabinet. I only played it once and I’m pretty sure I never scored a single ball, but it’s stuck with me ever since. I loved that thing so much. Have never seen one in person since. Only ever seen it online in photos. So I’m glad you covered this. This is such a nostalgic boot to the head for me.
Lol! I remember playing this when I was a child at a DZ discovery zone (I don't think they exist anymore) I remember being so infatuated and in unbelief while playing it since Goji stuff like this was so uncommon back in the early 90s. Thanks for sharing mib!
When I was younger, I used to go to this skating rink in my town. It actually had (and I think still has) a Godzilla wars Jr. Arcade machine. Despite it being one of the more older arcade machines, it still looked and ran very well. I remember playing it a lot when I was there (never won though, the highest score I ever got was five I think). Haven't been to the skating rink in a while though, so I'm not really 100% sure if it's still there, still working well, stuff like that. Planning to go back to the skating rink soon, so hopefully it's still there and still working well
An update to anyone seeing this. The Godzilla wars Jr. Arcade machine is still there and still running very well. I even managed to barely beat it this time. I'm honestly glad it's still around today
A Godzilla railgun game, that sounds like a great idea, you could choose different mechs, a mecha version of zone fighter, resembling the guncannon heavy custom, the super x4 and battle some kaiju, there are some minor kaiju that serve as regular enemies. The plot is that an alien invasion is happening and that they have taken control the earth’s kaiju, but luckily, mothra and Godzilla haven’t been mind controlled, so you can play and unlock kaiju, the name for my idea is Godzilla: kaiju strike. This is not the first time someone has come up with this idea, and it hasn’t been used a lot, but I think something like this could work. What are your ideas?
Wow I used to play this at my local video store in Brooklyn. The owner was a huge godzilla head and he had a few arcades in the back and this was one of them.
One of my favorite memories as a kid was going to knotts berry farm in California and playing this in one of their arcades! I do remember the last time I went the cabinet wasn’t there anymore so they might’ve gotten rid of it but I haven’t been to Knotts in awhile.
it was 16 years ago at the time of typing this comment, I was around 10 at the time and visited Niagara Falls with my family, we live in Canada so it wasn't hard to get there, I played this at the arcade at Cliffton Hill, I didn't wanna stop or leave, I would love to live in Niagara Falls Canada cause of Cliffton Hill attractions, anyway recently this year my boyfriend moved to Niagara Falls and so I visited him for a week and we went to some of the attractions I went to all those years ago including the arcade, it had expanded and had old cabinets and new, Ghost Blasters was still there but sadly under repairs when I visited, oh well next visit I guess, but when I searched for the Godzilla Wars Jr cabinet, I couldn't find it, so I asked an employee and they said they no longer have it, so I've been searching online but it's almost impossible to buy one now, I want one and I should have room in my apartment for it, if anyone can help me find a listing, please help
I loved this vid keep up the good work mib and btw a video suggestion I’d possibly enjoy to see in the future is a room tour of ur collections of multiple franchise mainly Godzilla ofc lol
Godzilla themed or not, it's always great to see a working arcade machine like this. The only arcade machines I've encountered the most recently are those claw machines (and there's WAY too many of them).
This was my favorite arcade game back when I was like 5-6, I used to play it at Discovery Zone back at my old home in Florida. That game has a lot of sentimental value to me.
There was one of these cabinets in Knott's Berry Farm, but I saw it around 2012-14. I haven't returned since then, but if anyone has been there recently and has possibly seen it, I'd love to know!
This Makes me wonder what MIB does for a living to afford all these cool collectibles. At the same time I don’t want to know because I love the videos!
Oh yeah, and play Dawn of the Monsters for your Videogame reviews. Its like Streets of Rage meets King of the Monsters 2. Well, if King of the monsters 2 had mooks your size to beat up. That game was SO close to being a kaiju beat em up, but they forgot the bad guys to beat up. Planes and tanks just aren't the same.
This game is actually in a mall on my City, and it's still there even after like 10 years. Althought the part to place a quarter was replaced with one to pass a card on (it's because the árcade in the mall doesn't use quarters, but a weird type of credit card that you pay to have points on, and spent those points on games, each game having a different amount of points to spent on). I remember playing it a lot and having a lot of fun with it (sadly I have only scored 6 points ever like once lol). Another funny thing is that I played it before I knew anything about Godzilla besides "giant angry radioactive lizard", so I thought Ghidorah was a random monster created for the background of the cabinet.
@@Geekformer if you don't want spoilers then don't check this comment So, in the movie, when Godzilla chases after the main characters' boat, they drop a mine inside his mouth and blow it up. In Godzilla Wars jr, you fire mines inside his mouth too.
Ok this is legitimately pretty cool. I’ve never even heard of this before but now i kinda wanna play it…. Actually here’s a Question that you might know the answer to or might end up sending you spiraling down a Kaiju sized Rabbit hole of Research… What do you think the Prizes were in the Prize version of these machines? From the graphic on that Japanese one you showed with Mothra carrying what looks like a Gatchapon capsule I can assume they were little Gachapon toys or possibly candy. But was it like Random little Trinkets? Candy? Or perhaps A series of Potentially exclusive Gatchapon Godzilla Toys! So many possibilities!!!
@@sonic23233 i would be shocked if he didn’t at least have a toy one. Japan Vlogger Abroad in Japan has both a real Gatchapon machine and a toy one shaped like Anpan Man, so it wouldn’t shock me if there was a Godzilla one and If MIB had one
The irony that nowadays if those arcade games were to resurface, they would be Bandai-Namco games, fitting since Bandai has had a merchandising license for Godzilla for what seems like an eternity. Yeah, I'll admit that Chibi Godzilla was very cute indeed, but wait at the end there, were you going to feed him a mini Oxygen Destroyer?! You're evil! :D
When I was a kid, my parents took me to an arcade and Minnie golf place in Kentucky. I don't know where it was or if it's still open, but they had this game there, and I played it. I thought it was one of the coolest things ever.
5:00 Why am I immediately reminded of the big heads on Easter Island?!? MIB, they're not an audience, they're Seatopian surveillance posts! Are you quite sure Megalon is as passive and depressive as you've made him out to be?
There used to be a big indoor amusement park in Shawnee, KS called PowerPlay (they only have one location left open in KCMO), and some of us would get to go there during middle school on a field trip each spring as an incentive for good behavior. I actually remember they had one of these when we came one year and, seeing as how middle school was when I first got into Godzilla, I was immediately enamored with it and played it. You're lucky to have one all your own!
I saw one of these when I was like 5 in Chicago, I think it was around Navy Pier, it's one of my earliest memories of Godzilla, I remember getting a red Godzilla finger puppet from it.
I played it in 1992 or 1993 as a kid at the arcades in Rehoboth Beach. I remember it vividly because I won a ton of tickets and that themesong got stuck in my head. Years later I realized it was the godzilla theme, suite II. Like to this day I still associate it with Godzilla Wars Jr. Even during Minus One. Thanks for this
When I was 16 I worked in a local arcade called Pocket Change and they had this machine in the back next to the Pac Man Jr pinball cabinet. I never really thought much of it until now. I know when the arcade closed around 2007ish the owners kept almost all of the cabinets for their personal collection or sent some to other places they owned. Makes me wonder if they still have Godzilla stashed away somewhere.
I also played this arcade game but actually 2 years ago I went to Washington(not dc)forgot what city but it was a pizza place and they had an arcade area and they had Godzilla Wars Jr and it really was addicting. I rlly loved the simplicity and addictive of this game
Great video MIB!!! Man, Namco really has some cool ideas when creating these arcade games, these look really fun!!!! Lucky you own one, mad respect!!! For some dumb reason my brother told me that back when we were little, during a trip to a chuck E cheese, he saw a Godzilla wars arcade game and i didn't believe him! Boy, i was dumb.
My childhood laundromat randomly had a godzilla wars Jr also here in Chicago. I only ever remember it working once, all other times it would just eat your quarters and just not work.
In my home town of Kamloops BC, we have a little arcade called Rucker’s, and it had a Godzilla Wars Jr. machine, chances are it’s still there, but i havent been there since i moved to pei in 2021
I've always got a strange sense of nostalgia seeing this machine in the background of your videos. I probably stumbled upon it as a child but I have huge gaps in my memories so who knows.
I played one at a laser tag nearby my college in Oakville, Canada. I think the place was called Planet Laser? I freaked out and took way too much time admiring it and taking photos much to my patient friends' annoyance. That was my first time ever seeing one in person.
Holy crap: I actually played a Godzilla Wars game in Helsinki, Finland back in the late 90's. Specifically in an arcade located underground in Kaisaniemi (back when we had arcades. Tho there's some private/independent hobbyist ones like Sugoi Arcade). Not sure if it was the big one at beginning or more likely the Jr one that got released in the States too. Might have been when Kinopalatsi Cinema was established around in the same complex, tho that would be '98. The same complex also had two tabletop game stores for Warhammer and such when I first started dipping into the hobby myself, buying some White Dwarf magazines and a bunch of minis. Tho would take 'till early '10s when I would get back into it.
There was one at a "Sports Plus" (something like a Chuck E Cheese, or a Dave and Busters) near the mall where I used to live back up on Long Island. My friend at the time just described it as a Godzilla arcade game, so I thought it was a video game like the Godzilla fighting game advertised in Nintendo Power. I was actually shocked it was a game like that because I didn't even know the game existed.
I was at my local arcade NickelWorld when i first played. I heard the unmistakeable roar from the door and immediately rushed to the machine. I love that game.
I took glimpses of this game on the old arcade I used to go to as a kid, never got the chance to play it before they took it away, I remember loving the goji artstyle
There was a game exactly like this in Ecuador's "Vulqano Park", but I think they redecoraded it a little bit. I remember wanting to go to that park just for this game. It then sut down, and the last time I went there the machine was long gone.
I played this around 1993 or so and on. Place called Swing Around Fun Town in Fenton, Mo. was an outdoor mini-golf, go-cart place with an indoor arcade/kiddie-rides. I was 19 or 20 and would some days just go to play that goofy game! Got the new piggy bank cuz it reminded me of it and cuz it’s so damn cute.
I remember playing this game in my local mall arcade. It was a place called bumpers, it was in the 2000's. I loved this game it was one of the few I could win.
I remember playing this arcade game when I was least 5 or 7 years old it was in the arcade game where they had ice cream and Mini golf game the godzilla game was the only thing I played when I was there
My local arcade used to have 2 of these back to back with a spinning jackpot marquee in the center. I only ever hit the jackpot once for 2500 odd tickets.
I first played that game at Knott's Berry farm back in 2015 when there Arcade was good. I was never able to beat it as my highest was 4. I wish I could play it again but sadly it isn't there anymore.
I remember playing this at the Great Canadian Midway as a kid, the game was right across from the original House of The Dead cabinet so I'd always hit them both in a 1-2 punch hehe
I remember I played this once as a kid. It was at a mall's mini arcade in California. I remember seeing it only once, so I thought it was just a really rare piece.
I actually played on this as a kid once. I think the place was called Discovery Zone or something like that. I recognized it immediately, haven't thought of it in forever. I miss the arcade, but I think I'm a little old for that now!
I played this as a kid, in a weird jungle safari-themed arcade of all places. My brother and I swore that we kept hearing the Godzilla roar, and we followed it until we found the game. Godzilla literally called us over.
Oh man, this game… Here’s a real 90s nostalgia bomb: my local Discovery Zone (MEMBAH, I MEMBAH!) had this and it was always a highlight of my time at DZ. Nearly every Chuck E. Cheese knockoff, roller rink or laser tag area near me had it too.
I lived in japan from 2012-2015. i'm fairly positive the Osaka Tennoji Zoo had the godzilla merry go round and Jumbo Godzilla. no clue about today as i moved back to the US, but certainly worth a look if anyone is there.
I freakin loved this game as a child! They had this at my local bowling alley in a separate room that was full of arcade games and this was the one I played the most. In fact this game was my first exposure to Godzilla 😃
I sadly cannot remember where I played this, but I know I was young enough to ti be right at eye level with Chibi Godzilla. I loved the game and spent all my money on it when we went to this indoor park of some kind. It had a roller coaster and everything. It’s a shame I can’t remember the place, but I think it had an animal or jungle theme
Shockingly I was a Namco (Aladdin's Castle specifically) arcade attendant in Pennsylvania during the late 90s and had the privilege of not only playing this game but working on it a few times, as well as loading in prizes and, later, tickets.

Played this in timezone cebu. The soundtrack and everything brings back so much memories!
Amazing video, how cool to have one in your own house!!
I learned something with this video. Thanks, MIB!
I remember seeing this at Knotts Berry Farm at the arcade attached to the defunct dark ride, Kingdom of the Dinosaurs back in 1998 & 2000.
I completely forgot about this game! I remember playing it back in the day!
awesome to hear I’ve seen the space Godzilla micro battle place it in the background of your videos
I’ve never been to Gfest. What other things happen during Gfest besides selling figures, talking to other kaiju fans, and costume contests?
They had one of these in a mall arcade in Connecticut when I was a kid. Last time I saw it was probably around 2012ish?
I actually played that in Niagara Falls Canada as I'm Canadian, I wanted to keep that thing, I didn't wanna leave Niagara Falls
I remember playing this machine as a kid and loving chibi godzilla's design. I'd love a plush of him
I played this at Buffalo Bills Casino at the CA/NV State Line in the late 90s. It was a blast.
I first played that game at Knott's Berry farm back in 2015 when there Arcade was good. I was never able to beat it as my highest was 4. I wish I could play it again but sadly it isn't there anymore.
I was wondering when you were gonna do that MIB it looks awesome.
I remember playing this game when I was a child and this was what started my love of Godzilla
I played this as a kid, in a weird jungle safari-themed arcade of all places. My brother and I swore that we kept hearing the Godzilla roar, and we followed it until we found the game. Godzilla literally called us over.
They had one of these at My Local Marino's Pizza back in the day. Such Memories!
Oh man, this game…
Here’s a real 90s nostalgia bomb: my local Discovery Zone (MEMBAH, I MEMBAH!) had this and it was always a highlight of my time at DZ. Nearly every Chuck E. Cheese knockoff, roller rink or laser tag area near me had it too.
I do remember playing this game in the arcade section of a go-kart place and oddly enough it was in the corner so I always knew where it was.
I am glad we finally saw you play that game. I was wondering what that game cabinet behind was and how it worked.
I’m honestly amazed you have a little arcade machine in your house.
7:05 now that is straight up murder, its funny
Oh my goodness. I've never seen Jumbo Godzilla before and I love him
i like how he sneak like that like a 90's cartoon lol 0:06
I remember seeing this machine as a kid in the 90s at chuckie cheese that music was always stuck in my head lolz.
The music for the Godzilla Wars Jr game is surprisingly good from what little I hear of it.
What a great find man really nice to be able to have one of these in your man cave
