And thus began the *_GOLDEN AGE_* of Godzilla video games...
That's why people have been demanding for a remaster of this game but at least we get Godzilla coming to gigabash
So true.
Oh Absolutley. I was too late for these games
Is gigabash free?
@@RandomGuy18274 It's 34$ on Ps4. Don't know about Steam.
GDAMM forms a series of core memories for me. I was in early high school when it came out, and I remember going to GameStop near my house, and one of the employees busted out an early copy (that was not for sale yet!) and put it in their demo-GameCube so I could play it!
My birthday was right around then, and my parents surprised me with a GameCube AND the game! We had fried catfish that night. Good memories.
You lucky whippersnapper!
One of my all time childhood favorites. I remember feeling so accomplished beating Mechagodzilla as a kid, he was so difficult. The game introduced me to characters like Destroyah and Angirus who is still one of my all time favorite Godzilla kaiju. Such a blast back in the day
Destroy All Monsters Melee is the only reason my mom got me a GameCube
I remember my family and I were doing some Christmas shopping in a Walmart, and of course my brother and I wanted to look at the game section. When I saw this game’s cover proudly shown against the glass, I shrieked in joy because I had no idea about a newer Godzilla game, but my excitement worse down fast when I saw that it was for the GameCube which I didn’t have (I didn’t see the Xbox version). My mom was careful about money and didn’t want to spend a lot which included a new system. Plus, she doesn’t like Godzilla and had to put up with my obsession for it all the time. So, I thought she wasn’t going to get it at all, but come Christmas Day, l opened a present with the GameCube in it and and the one right beside it revealing this game. I cried in joy on that Christmas Day!
First off, that thumbnail is fucking gold!
This game meant so much to me as a kid. We didn't have a lot of money growing up, so new video games were a pretty rare thing for us; I did have Domination for the GBA which is great in its own right, but knowing that DAMM was out there and I wasn't playing it still left a void. But one weekend, we were able to rent it from GameStop, and so, (cheat code book in hand as I only had a few days to play), my little brother and I played the living shit out of that game for as long as we could. It was everything I ever wanted in a Godzilla game and more. We eventually did get our own copy of the game so we could play whenever we wanted, but I'll never forget how thrilled I was that weekend. It holds up today for sure, and I think it holds up today even better than its successors (despite the increased rosters of the later games).
And don't get me wrong Lord MIB, I do enjoy watching you shit-talk games, but I also enjoy you just talking about them being good. I know we all know that this one is, but we like hearing you talk about cool stuff even when we know exactly how cool it is!
Love the callback to your intro to the Godzilla: Rulers of Earth review
ALRIGHT NOW WE'RE TALKING!!! Godzilla Destory all Monsters Melee was the Godzilla game of my generation i remember wanting this game so bad when I was in elementary school and when I finally got it I could not stop playing still fun to play today glad you got to this one MIB, probably a breath of fresh air after playing mediocre games the past few episodes lol.
This game is such a Classic, one of my first fighting games! The fondest memory I have of this game is waking up early before school, quickly eating my cereal and then trying to speedrun the story mode before it was time to leave for school. As well, I played it with my brother and it was a blast
I remember being so hyped for this game as kid in grade school. My weekly planner was covered in magazine clippings for the GameCube release. I remember being so excited to finally get to rent it and play it!
I played this game over the summer with a friend and its just as good as I remember it being. Easily one of my favorites of all time
This game is 20 years old! I remember renting the GameCube version when it first came out and as a Godzilla fan I was not disappointed.
Omg! I used to play this game for hours back when I was in middle school, those were very good times for me and currently it's inside the Wii in the storage unit. I own the American Gamecube version of this game, I think my dad told me that he bought it from a garage sale years ago. This game holds a special place in my heart since this is the first Godzilla game I have ever played and further cemented my love for Godzilla plus made me stay in the fandom, to this day, I'm still in it since 2013.
this was the game that introduced me to godzilla as a kid and man what an introduction it was
My cousin got this game (I actually own his old copy) and I remember it blew my mind as a kid. His buddy originally owned it and we played it at his place.
This game was what got me further into Godzilla. I was like 7-8 when I first played it.
Godzilla 90s is my go to every time.
Destroy All Monsters Melee was my first exposure to the Godzilla series, and I'm honestly grateful that it is. I will always remember seeing the monsters become crazier as the game progressed and being blown away with Mecha King Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla (we played Adventure mode as kids).
This was the game I would ALWAYS rent at Hollywood Video. I use to play as Megalon or Destroyah all the time.
I think something important to remember out Final Wars is that the director SPECIFICALLY wanted it to evoke the fights from these games. These games themselves are what pushed the monster fights in that direction for the movie.
When you set an arena at night it almost looks live action.
This was one feature is what made the game so timeless.
I had such a blast with this game. My older brother asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I told him this game. He came home on leave from the Army and presented this to me a few days before Christmas. I still remember my Mom yelling at him. "I told you to buy him something he NEEDS...not that god damn game!" Ahhh....memories. I was up for hours just bulldozing through the story.
Ah yes. I loved this game as a kid. This game introduced me to most of the monsters since at the time I think the only Godzilla film I watched was Godzilla 2000, though it took me years to unlock all the monsters. I have the game cube version but didn't know there was an Xbox version nor did I know Kiryu is an exclusive character.
Hi MIB! Great video!!! FINALLY! It's time to tackle the golden age of godzilla games of me and my brother's generation!!! I seriously love these games growing up (my first was save the earth, melee later) as this fully fulfills my love to play as godzilla and company and duke it out in stages where we can play with friends and family to see who's the king of the monsters! They hold up beautifully (well, some) and they are amazing pick up and play games to waste countless hours and even though it's a dream, i hope there will be a remaster that does the games justice for everyone to play and enjoy!!!
Just got done watching your review and I really enjoyed it. This game, along with Godzilla: Save the Earth, were essentially my gateway to the Godzilla franchise. Of course I never got the chance to play DAMM at a young age, mostly because I had a PS2 back then, I managed to play it when I got an Xbox and it's still to me a personal favorite game of mine to this day.
Have you ever played Godzilla unleashed
Still own my Gamecube copy of this game and its still fun to play from time to time!
Wasn't the first Godzilla game I've played that goes to STE
I remember getting curbstomped by Mechagodzilla, a lot. It's one of those "The final boss is on the highest difficulty regardless of what you set the game to" fighting games.
I got Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee for Christmas 2002 and it introduced me to the franchise.
This was the game that introduced me to the Godzilla franchise. So I have a big appreciation for this game because of that alone. But even without that fact. I still come back to this game a lot! It never gets old! My favorite memory was definitely unlocking and playing as the other monsters. My favorite being King Ghidorah
I’ve been waiting for this video for years
I personally very grew up with this game cause I was born after 2010 around the time the ps4 Godzilla game came out. But boy what I would do to play Destroy all monsters melee and save the earth. Ya’ll early 2000 kids are lucky 😅
Congratulations MIB!
I always remember as a kid, asking dad too hook up the gamecube to play this game. We didn't have a way to save so I would always be stuck with the same monsters but as a kid? I didn't mind that. It was such a fun time, just playing around maybe with a friend or by myself. It didn't matter too me, that game was a major part of my childhood n I'm glad too see it in action again
Loved this as a kid so much. Still do nowadays with my og xbox. So happy to be able to play this game still
The best thing in the world that need to happend - MIB Croosover With AVGN
Dude if he kicks ittt the the AVGN I will go nuttz! My life will be complete
Me and my friends in high school spent WAY too much time playing this game on GameCube when it first came out. Then, when I learned about the Xbox version coming later, I actually bought an Xbox specifically to play the enhanced version.
I’m glad that you’re talking about the atari pipeworks Godzilla trilogy because it’s one of the greatest Godzilla games of all time heck one of the Atari pipeworks I’ve played is Godzilla unleashed for the wii which is so good i can play it all the time but then i stopped and played roblox with kaiju universe and project kaiju which has the same thing like Godzilla unleashed but with more players more kaiju and more areas
The thumbnail artwork is classic TH-cam reviewer title card material 👌
THIS is hands down my favorite childhood game (only tied with battlefront), managed to save my gamecube and still replay this gem from time to time
oh God my teenage years, I have great memories with this game when I first bought it and played the hell out of it with my family.
I was around 7-8 when this game came out, and I got it for Christmas 2002 along with my Gamecube, and my God, did I have SO MUCH FUN playing this with my cousins for hours and hours. We tried other games, but anytime we hung out together, it'd be one of the titles that we HAD to play. This and Save the Earth are integral to my childhood, and as a Godzilla fan in the 00s, it really felt special to have with my vhs bootlegs and my soft vinyl toys.
TBH this was how I got into Godzilla along with final wars
yo ! i was just telling my coworkers about how cool this game was growing up, and BAM u post this xD perfect
The prophecy is true. MIB is finally making videos of the Pipeworks games.
I've never clicked a mib video so frigging fast!
Finally, A GREAT GODZILLA GAME!!!
The Melee in video game title are a brand of epicness!!!
Aww man i was _really_ looking forward to that Grape Escape review 🥺 Godzilla’s cool too, though… i guess 😕
Loved this game so much growing up. Endless hours played with brothers and friends.
I was a sophomore in high school, 15 or 16. Some of my favorite memories of that age were playing this game on my Gamecube. I remember at the time being so happy I had chosen Gamecube as my console because this awesome Godzilla game was exclusive. I was one of those guys that actually carried the console around with me how Nintendo imagined we would, and I brought it over to friends house and school often. The sequel later on xbox was indeed better, but I always think of playing THIS version when I have fond memories
3:11 "That never happened," Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster existing
I remember it was my 6th birthday and I was at GameStop with my parents and I saw this game and I flipped shit cuz I always saw gameplay footage and always wanted the game. My parents bought me the game and it was a pretty special moment to me. I’ve loved every moment playing that game since then and I still sometimes hook up my Wii to play it every once in a while to play with friends when they’re over sometimes
This game review made up your Super Godzilla review! I can’t wait to see you review the sequels!
Still have the GameCube version of this game and I still love it to this day. I even have the instruction book that has the X-Plus and Classic Media dvd ads in it. Super nostalgic and glad you covered it MIB. Hope Save the Earth is fun for you to even though I never played it myself.
After so long of waiting MIB is finally review the Pipeworks Godzilla trilogy!
This game is one of my favorite Godzilla games to play. Godzilla 2000 is my favorite godzilla design of all time and being able to play as him was just mind blowing. I wish they would bring this game to the current consoles
it's always nice to hear you gush about a good godzilla game.
Finally you're covering the time we Started getting GOOD Godzilla games
Definitely a Godzilla game I'd love to play! Great video MIB!!!
This was right at my reintroduction to Godzilla. I grew up with some of the Showa movies and Trendmasters toys but this was my intro to the greater Godzilla canon. I never actually owned it but I played it a few times at a friend's house and instantly fell in love with Destroyah since my girl Mothra wasn't playable yet. This along with talking about Godzilla stuff with said friend got me back into the franchise hard which lead to my late Uncle getting me Save the Earth on my PS2 when it came out and I'll save my ramblings for that comment section when that video comes out.
Lord MIB has made another masterpiece
I remember getting that game at a local game rental shop before my dentist appointements i remember myself getting really excited over the game and Play with all my friends when i got home i love this Game and i wish i could Play it again
jesus fucking christ, this game is probably what got me into godzilla! (besides you of course) and hearing you bring back so many memories of me playing it with my brothers was such a fun time, thank you for this video
I would like see you review the California Raisins.
Time for the trilogy to begin
Thanks man, is good that your finally reviewing the pipeworks Godzilla fighting games, to here your opinions on them. I’ve never played the first game only the second & third games, I’ve always enjoyed the second one in fact that I got in to Toho’s Godzilla more then the Trystar version thanks to that game
*"in a world called Godzilland the people were disappointed and sad that their aren't good godzilla games the prophecy says that a legend will come and create the ultimate godzilla game this legend was pipeworks and the rest is history"*
My brother isn't even a Godzilla fan, but he loved to play these games with me.
I never got into the game until 2020 so I don’t have a nostalgic connection but I had so much fun and played the other pipeworks games this year they are both equally as fun in my opinion.
Man I played the Pipeworks godzilla games all the time as a kid they are still my favorite godzilla games.
This game was so fun. Now i miss it. Me and my friends played so much times on gamecube , which was what he had back then. This game, one of those games, multiplayer on Spot. I dont know if people know what they miss as local multiplayer instead of online. So much fun .... good memories
This game was how I was introduced to Godzilla. In second grade. My cousin let me play in his GameCube and I played destroy all monsters melee
Me when I head MIB finally acknowledged this games existence: YEEEEEEESSSSSS
No word of lie, I asked my parents for a Gamecube when I was kid SOLELY to play this game. I remember seeing it on the shelf in a Kmart and just about wetting myself with excitement. Probably the first game I remember actively trying to unlock everything in, I was honestly way too excited about unlocking images for the in game gallery & getting to see some of the concept art. Repeat the same scenario when I saw Save the Earth on the shelf in EB Games and begging my parents for a PS2 so I could play that. Wonderful memories.
I'm Surprised they Didn't make a Fighting Video Game Godzilla vs Kong . Similar to Godzilla Destroy All Monsters. they can have the new updated version of Mechagodzilla (3-31-2021).
I remember playing this game, it's was one that I never got tired of and put in a lot of time trying to unlock everything without the cheat codes. I didn't know there were cheat codes at the time lol.
2:26 GodZillaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Lmao
Lord MIB has such a nice ring to it.
Man, my friends and I pumped so many hours of gameplay into the Game Cube release of this game (none of us had an Xbox). The only other game we played together more was the 'OTHER' Melee game on the Game Cube. And just like in 'that' Melee game, we all had our favorite fighters/monsters to play as. I favored Mecha Godzilla while my buddies preferred Gigan, Rodan, and Megalon, respectively. Ahhh... Good times, good times.
Sadly, I had a bad case of "product loyalty" to Nintendo in those days, so I missed out on the other entries to this trilogy.
The greatest Godzilla games of all time
My brother had the GameCube version, and we still play it today.
I loved this game as a kid. My little brother and I had the GameCube version.
Will never forget renting this from a local video store along with an Xbox console as a kid
We absolutley need a new game, imagine a new godzilla game with unreal engine 5 :D
I still play this one on my retroid pocket flip. I used to play this one with my friends and now with my kids.
I feel like you had reviewed this game before this gives me so much Deja Vu and I love when ever you saw Destroyah you have an accent when you say his name😂
Dude one thing about that game that I really enjoyed was that at the end of the each battle you can see a small replay in slow-motion of your battle, it was a nice touch that I liked & i don’t think the other 2 games afterwards did that, but great stuff bud, can’t wait to see what shenanigans the monster island Buddies get themselves into this holiday (Xmas) 😝
Let me tell ya, Megalon was a B I T C H to fight in this game, as he'd spam his burrow-grab move and stun-lock you into oblivion!
I remember playing the hell out of Godzilla Destory All Monsters Melee on the Nintendo Gamecube as a kid (sadly I didn't have an Xbox as a kid) and it was one of my favorite games on the console. I also enjoyed playing Godzilla Saves the Earth on my Playstation 2 and enjoying it even more. I seriously would love an HD remaster of Godzilla Destory All Monsters (Xbox version) and Saves the Earth on the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4/5 and XBOX ONE/Series X. 🦖
I tried getting this game like 10 years ago at a local game store, they told me they would give me a call when they had it in stock. It's been 10 years and I still haven't gotten that call.
lol
Now that you're covering the Pipeworks Trilogy I'd love to hear your thoughts on Gigabash!
I've had this game for a few years and it is an awesome to play.
This was one of the first video games I ever played at my next door neighbor's house. Also my introduction to the Godzilla brand.
I have the Game Cube version and this is one of my all-time favorite video games and my favorite Godzilla game
I remember when I was 10 trying to find this game at a game trading store and at the time, I only had a ps2 so instead my dad and I got Godzilla unleashed and that game had me happier than ever at the time, although its shame that a new Godzilla game has not been released yet well not that I know of one.
We need more godzilla games were you can just sit down with freinds, and just play.
Just a few notes from my experiences on the Xbox version:
- The ability to customize your own soundtrack allowed me to import songs from the Showa era soundtracks to use in the game. It's adds a level of awesome to the story mode when you hear the music from themovies while you're stomping out other Kaiju.
- Hedorah in the game was awesome in the fact that as long as he was on screen flying around, your energy replenished at a slower rate, meaning your beam attacks or special attacks were limited.
- Mothra's air strike was a cool strategic aspect of the game.
- My personal favorite - the military would attack the Kaiju who did the most damage to the city. Which made a LOT more sense than the 'attack the one with more HP' that they used in Save the Earth.
Lots of great memories, unlocking all the monsters and arenas with playthroughs. I even got to play in the tournament at G-fest one year, and made it to the 2nd round using Gigan, and then Megalon. Should've stuck with Gigan.
I’ve waited for this day. I hope you do both versions of Godzilla Unleashed.
I still have both of the PS2 games and the Gameboy game! Unleashed on the PS2 was my Jam!
I actually sort of ended up playing them in reverse order. I started with Unleashed on Wii, then played Save the Earth on PS2, Then I got DAMM on GC. I Got DAMM on Xbox a little bit later. The one thing that I'd add is that DAMM's Story mode is a little bit difficult. From my recollection, the Story Mode only gives you a small handful of continues and MechaGodzilla has a tendency to be somewhat cheap. In that vain, it's more like an Arcade Mode than a Story Mode, but that's never bothered me. I still enjoy the game regardless. And this video is a nice summary of that.
It's easily my favorite Godzilla video game of all time
This game was the sole reason I convinced my dad to get an Xbox over a PS2 back in the day, and boy it was so worth it~
Godzilla destroy all monsters melee was my first rated T game when I got it for the GameCube my mom bought for me since I asked for a Godzilla game. 😂❤
