Q. “I think people are influenced by their Karma to some extent, but in Buddhism, they think that they can live good lives by improving the mind. I think it’s a good idea. However, for example, what if they are abused babies and die even though they are a few months old or younger? They look innocent though. Are they completely influenced by their karma like fate? Also, does that mean they did something vicious in their previous lives?”

In 1945, Ven. Sumanasara, the master of Gotami Vihara, was born in Sri Lanka, and he became a samanera (novice monk) at the age of 13. In 1965 he was fully ordained as bhikkhu (Buddhist monk) and continued formal monastic training. After teaching Buddhist philosophy at a national university in Sri Lanka, in 1980, he came to Japan to study Japanese Buddhism on the funds of the Sri Lankan Government. He is an internationally renowned Buddhist scholar and meditation master, He is currently involved in Buddhist evangelism and in guiding people into the practice of Vipassana.
Through his sincere and gentle personality, and by his ability to give sermons fluently in Japanese and English, he has gained an excellent reputation among Japanese people. Moreover, Ven. Sumanasara is giving sermons at the Asahi Culture Center, and appeared several times on NHK Educational TV show, "The Age of Spirituality (Kokoro no Jidai)".
Ven. Sumanasara preaches Buddha's teachings, which are actual and insightful wisdom to practice today.

長老がいつも「一般の人には理解が難しい」とおっしゃっている意味がよくわからなかったのですが、今それが優しさであるとわかりました。
わからない人のことをわかってあげる、理解を求めないスタンスが穏やかでいるひとつの秘訣なのだとわかりました。
なので、私は学びたてで、何か自分にとって役に立って教えがあると、やたら周りに仏道のことを紹介したがってしまうところがありますが、やめようと思いました。
この世界を必然と捉えるか、偶然と捉えるかで自分への向きあい方が変わってきますよね。偶然と捉える方は自己愛によって自分の人生を都合のいいように美化し正当化して自分を最後まで愛しながら生きていくし、必然と捉える人は自分を客観的に観察し、決してこの世界に感謝はせず、死も恐れず無茶をする。そして自己愛に満ちた人間を愚かに思う。さあ、答えはどっちだろ
なんだか深い 難しいけどわかりやすいです。

宿命持って亡くなっていく小さな命。物質世界から見ると悲しくて何とか阻止したいと思う事でも、魂の世界から見たら亡くなる事さえも受け入れる、その魂の定めを受け入れる
その魂にとってどちらが幸せなのかと考えた時、受け入れてもらえたら安らぐのかな、とも感じました

一つ質問なのですが。虐待した側の人間は虐待の業を積んでしまいます。
自分の子供を虐待するために生まれてきたのですか？どのように理解したらいいでしょうか。
「慈悲」の観点からすれば虐待とかとても悲しく思いますね。
いや、よくぞ正直にお答えくださいました。だから、それを、どう解釈するか？平等だ、差別だ！とかそれ自体が、人間の思い上がりだ。それが、真実、全ての差別と言っている事は、正しいのかも知れない。そうだ。人間の価値判断は、神仏は関係ないのだ。それを、いつ、悟るか？。お釈迦様もそう言っていたはずだ。とある宗教家より。
だからこそ生命を差別したり、虐めたりしてはいけない。業の事実も仏陀がお教えなりながら、慈悲喜捨もお教えになられる。生命が皆んな平等だと観ないとだね。困ってる生命がいたら慈悲喜捨でもって助けないと。業だから仕方ないと思ったら、思った人も危ない！
