  • Today we look at my friends truck who converted it from nitro gas to electric. It was a Traxxas Slayer pro 3.3 and now it runs a electric brushless motor on 2S lipo battery.

    I love the slayer platform especially 4x4. I did the electric conversion to 3s and it runs just as good as nitro but without the hassle of fuel and carb tuning.

      That's true, that was one of his reasons for conversion, it was too loud! Thanks!

    I’m debating on doing an electric conversion. But at the same time man I just love the Nitro’s. Nothing compares to the feeling a Nitro gives you while driving it.

      I would probably keep it nitro myself, but it was my buddies truck and he liked electric for that instant power and not as loud

    Hi, I have converted a Slayer with a Hobbywing 2200KV 4274. It's a very good short course. I installed 12mm hexagons to mount 1/10 monster truck wheels like you. Can you tell me if you find wheels with 14mm and what models I have to choose? I want only large wheels like yours and mine but with 14mm ^^
    My Slayer is difficult to maintain on floor, when I turn at high speed of with a big movement, It wants to flip. I will have to lower gravity center with a motor installation like your. At this moment I have a special part for conversion, plug and play for Revo/slayer frame but it's probably too high for gravity center. I whish wide wheels for visual and for don't have flip in turning. Do you have stock shocks or modified?

    • @FivoNine
      @FivoNine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a nice setup, the only tires I know that have 14mm Hex is the Arrma Granite Tires. This was my friends truck so I dont know too much about it, I believe the shocks were stock.

    • @Biturbo47
      @Biturbo47 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FivoNine Granite tire is the model you have? The problem I have is the external diameter of wheel. Which have to don't exceed 110mm (4,3" 4,4") if not there are contact with body but must has a wideness of 60mm 70mm (2,2"-2,8"). Only 1/10 MT 12mm hex have good size and I had to machined (handmade 🤣) a 14mm to convert it. I wish have same tire yours because they seem to be at perfect size.
      I will post a video of my Slayer, from France, soon ^^

    Was really hoping for some top speed clips. I would atleast hope the 2 speed gearbox was being used for something. Also, reverse shouldn't need a separate gear if it's an electric motor, it can be powered in reverse

      Motor was already having issues, cheaper to convert to electric then mess with it.

    • @TestECull
      @TestECull 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FivoNine I'm saying the end result woulda been better if you sold this truck to someone who did want to mess with the engine and then used the proceeds of that sale to heavily discount a lighter and more nimble truck that was electric from the getgo. 'Tis how I got my Slayer; the shitty stock engine failed so I got a basically mint truck for $225.

      The whole chassis and suspension are different. It uses the lay down shocks and pivot ball arms from the e-revo/Summit. I don't have either truck so I don't know if it handles differently, but saying every 4wd short course truck is a Slash 4x4 isn't really accurate.
