    Besides being way too expensive (which is a serious problem), the set seems really cool and well done. Obviously, the small scene, R2D2 and C3PO behind the compactor, are unnecessary, but again, it's not a bad thing by itself, the problem with it is that it increases the price. Other than that it does no harm to the set.

    • @Mitistefan

      The price is excellent compared to the new sets

    • @llnnie
      @llnnie ปีที่แล้ว +3

      honestly even getting this for nearly the same price in 2023, I’d have to disagree that the set is expensive. Although I gotta say I’ve just recently gotten into Lego again as an adult after so many years. (So your opinion would probably matter more than mine in this scenario lol) I just think with the pieces and minifigures included it’s an excellent add to any collection for that price.

    • @truecrimejungle
      @truecrimejungle 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@llnnie That's the thing - lego is literally the exact same price as it was 20 years ago per inflation. So if you've been in it a while it;s going to seem a lot more expensive then someone new - who can compare equally across the current lineup as apposed to 5 years ago.

    Agree that it probably shouldn't be $90, but ironically, of the 3 Diorama sets we have coming out, this is the one that appeals to me the most by a long shot

  • @3ve873
    @3ve873 2 ปีที่แล้ว +95

    I actually really like the inclusion of the R2-D2 and C-3PO involvement. The entire scene was based on their efforts stopping the compactor completing its cycle, with the camera shots jumping in between those two and the unfortunate group inside the machine. Agree that it's added a chunk to the cost, but I would prefer to have the complete set of all characters involved for this particular representation, personally.

    • @pubg-blsy3352
      @pubg-blsy3352 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean yes but in the end it’s a diorama so it’s supposed to be used for display and so you weren’t see the r2 and c3po figures at all, it woulda been better to just not include them as it would reduce the cost significantly while also not taking away much from the diorama.

    • @3ve873
      @3ve873 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@pubg-blsy3352 I do agree, to an extent with your point. However, 'display' does not necessarily mean against a wall, with the back hidden - if you had this in a display cabinet, with multiple viewing angles, it would be visible. Realistically, shaving an extra 15-20% off the price would be fairly inconsequential; as I doubt many people will avoid buying it at the price it is, even if they're not keen on the droid inclusion. But I, personally, might have been less keen, had they not been included, and it were cheaper. I expect a fair number of collectors would agree.

    • @pubg-blsy3352
      @pubg-blsy3352 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3ve873 yeah but even then the back doesn’t look great in the first place so I’m just saying if you were to remove it and make the set cost 20% less it would go from 80£ to 64£ which is much better especially as this isn’t a exactly large set as it have multiple small 1x1 or 2x1 tiles. I mean you can buy a helmet such as the Darth Vader one for much cheaper, 69.99 and the scout trooper one for 49.99 and the dark trooper for 59.99 which are all much better deals in terms of size and display-ability.

  • @Wi-Fi-El
    @Wi-Fi-El 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    $90 is a high price, but with 809 pieces, six minifigs, a dianoga, the moving walls, and the sleek look of the set it doesn't seem like the worst deal ever. If they had the dual molded C-3po I'd def buy it

  • @Jay-Zech

  • @SpeedstersUnited
    @SpeedstersUnited 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I'm so glad they finally gave R2D2 a print on the back now. One of my major critiques of Lego Star Wars R2D2 figures is that they never put the back printing on the back of R2D2, and now they finally gave it us, I can only hope they carry it over into Lego Star Wars sets in the future.
    As for the Stormtrooper waist printing, the only reason I could see them not doing that is because if they have the printing on the waist band, it might not line up with the printing on the torso. But they certainly could do something about that.

    To put things into perspective and stay in the realm of Lego Star Wars sets, this thing costs the same at retail as both the downsized versions of 75301: Luke Skywalker's X-Wing AND 75300: Imperial TIE Fighter put together! I'd rather buy those again at this price level!

    I don’t agree with your take on the back side of the set. In a community that hypes and values “Easter eggs” so much, this is epic! Plus they’re both improved, exclusive figures, which is also fetishized in the Lego Star Wars community. While of course you will not see this side displayed, the value for me is when showing it to someone who’s at my house and I say “…and check THIS out!”, and turn the set around to expose the two iconic characters hanging out on the other side of the door. I’m not justifying the total price, but I am happy the figures were added, and in a cool, unique way.

      The problem is that for most people you’d never see them after building it once. It’s a display set, so many put it on a shelf after building, back against a wall.
      It’s one thing for a ship to have internal details, especially for play sets that you’re meant to open up to play with, but for a diorama to not be able to see the whole thing, they as well not be there especially not when they’re there just to up the price.

    I actually really like the inclusion of 3PO & R2, but I agree that putting them on the backside is pointless. I told my wife I thought they should have extended the set by about 2-3 inches (making it about as wade as the Dagobah set), kept the compactor scene the same size, and use the extra space for the droid build... of course that might have shot the price over $100... even though it would still probably come in at 100 less pieces.

  • @DuckofFail
    @DuckofFail 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The back piece from the control room is nice, just knowing it's there. not really an easter egg, but definitely a great nod to the scene from the film. I say this, of course, as someone who's a bit older, and grew up with the original trilogy.
    Also, I think the original trilogy "gets more love" with things like this, in part, because of the demographics between Star Wars fans: what trilogy they gravitate to, what their life status and buying habits look like, etc. I suspect that as time passes, you will eventually see a decline in attention to the original trilogy, and an increasing move towards the prequels, at least for the very expensive pieces.

R2D2 and C-3PO weren’t in the trash compactor, so they had to build an additional “playset” for those two characters to come with this set. It’s not about the set of the back that increases the price, it’s the minifigs.

      501st battle pack. I’ve bought 6. Not all at once. And gave one to my nephew.

    Maybes have R2 and 3PO on the side of the compactor, so when the walls are compressed they become more of the feature than stuck on the back out of context...

    $90 for this set is sickening. It isn't anywhere near worth that much. That being said, it's amazing how they made all of the junk not collide, and I love that they put in C-3PO and R2-D2. It's cool to turn around and show people.

    Hey there, this will prob get buried BUT. I've been getting back into Lego star wars for the first time in 12 years and your channel helped a lot!!
    Do you think you could do a few alternative builds for the 501st trooper battlepack? Since you're the GOD of the 501st battle pack.
    I dont mean just one alternative. I'd love something massive! Like 4 or 5! Please!

  • @collectorempire_km

    We’ll get more dioramas for sure. Only OT that is though because there apparently isn’t enough to do for the prequels. Also, no exclusive figures in expensive sets only applies to prequel sets. This set doesn’t appeal to me because it’s just so random which is why I passed on Vader’s meditation chamber and the price is another factor. Really these sets should be $60 max.

      Imagine a Palpatine's arrest diorama with a quote tile "I am the Senate" - The Senate.
      Or better yet, a duel on Mustafar with duel molded legs for Anakin and Obi-Wan on the end of the Lava river, quote would be "It's over Anakin, I have the high ground" - Obi-Wan Kenobi and the high ground would be included. A New Mustafarian could be included as well.
      There are limitless possibilities, but like you implied Lego does not care.

    $90? Sure, I’d buy that as a kid since I didn’t understand the value of money lol. But now, I can’t justify spending that much on top of my rent, bills, gas, food, etc. I’ll always have good memories playing my Legos as a kid. Once I have my own, I’m passing down all my sets to them.

    I don't get why everyone is making such a fuss about hip printing and arm printing. I personally believe that arm printing should be as simple as possible and hips should stay clear for the most part. Overdetailed figures seem incredible weird, part of the charm of lego is the fun, quirky and simple design of their figures, while still keeping their iconic features. Figures like Vader look great with arm printing and leg printing, while ROTJ Luke looks perfect with no arm and leg printing, and his classic lego hairpiece. Another example would be clone troopers, I don't believe arm printing would look good on clone troopers without making the figures feel overdetailed, proof of that being the original captain rex phase 2 minifigure.
