Great knives like this that are gifts make it hard to use. On one hand you want to use the crap out of it because its capable and on the other hand you want to keep it as perfect as possible because it means so much to you!
Made a mini griptilian back in the day when it was in the custom shop with OD green G 10 scales, 20 CV blade sheepfoot, stainless steel spacers and mini deep carrypocket clip. That knife stacks up to any modern knife all day long today.
I have a 555s. I sent it back to Benchmade recently with my 940 for their spa service. It's such a great knife. I have a standard Bugput and a CF elite bugout...I choose the 555 mini grip over those every time.
Excellent video sir, I just received my mini grip sheepsfoot with thumb hole. The s30v blade hood a great edge. Very fun and fidgety too. I’ll be ordering a full size griptilian very soon. Id assume that the full size is maybe more fidget friendly. Excelllent knives
I really like my Mini Griptilian, but my fav small knife I own is my Chaves TAK. I always carry a small and large knife, and I rotate between my Chaves TAK, Delica 4 in M4, and an MKM Isonzo MCF in M390, along with my Spyderco Stretch 2. I also took my extra titanium pocket clip from my Chaves TAK, and put it on my Mini Griptilian, and it fits perfectly. Looks cool too. I put the plain one on it, and kept the skull clip on the Chaves.
I have the same exact one you have and let me tell you, once it breaks in and its been cleaned it will be absolutely amazing. I also added a bugout clip to mine and that made it even better. The mini grip is one of my favorite knives I own. I got my third one (the one you have) at SMKW in 2021 and I have had two previous ones as well. Thanks for the great video.
yup, that is exactly what I did with my 555-S30V and my older one. it should come with the Bugout clip stock as I feel it works very well with the knife.
I totally agree that the wharncliffe Delica isn't for everyone! I really am tempted to get the full size version of the Griptilian to see if I like it the same!
I have the mini grip and the WE Banter. I like the mini grip still the best. That particular Delica is just ugly. I like other Spyderco but no way that one.
No it hasn’t. A couple of black blade models were discontinued and it was removed from the custom shop. But the grip and mini grip are still in the 2023 benchmade catalog and available pretty much everywhere.
the mini grip is my favorite EDC knife with a blade length specifically under 3 inches. it’s so much better than the bugout to me. the ONLY bad thing about buying a griptilian NOW is that the aftermarket is becoming scarce. harder to find simple colored scales and you can’t order specific colors from benchmade as they only make it in the standard black now. i wish benchmade and all of the aftermarket companies would start focusing less on the bugout and back to the griptilian. everyone who has ever owned one talks about how it’s one of the best knife platforms out there still, so i don’t get why companies are on board with phasing it out.

I have a mini grip that was given to me by my brother… so It’ll always be in my collection. They are great little edc users!

I feel the same way about gifted knives. I take more care with them than I do with the knives I purchase. They will never leave my collection.

My grandpa gave me a brand new one still in the box. Been an amazing edc since and still going strong!

I find the thumb hole and axis lock to be the peak of knife fidgeting for me.

I have 2 mini-grips and 2 bugouts. I carry the mini-grip much more.
I would prefer a hollow grind though.
You can get a deep carry clip from Benchmade really reasonable.

I was a late adopter to this exact knife and it is one of my favorites. Wharncliff Delicas - no. Not in my world. Way too limiting with that grip.
I totally agree that the wharncliffe Delica isn't for everyone! I really am tempted to get the full size version of the Griptilian to see if I like it the same!
I’ve got a G10 full size, but with thumb stud. The Hogue Ritter RSK is the better knife. Of course, Doug Ritter used to do those on a Griptilian.
