    JamieJones! I can't thank you enough.
    You certainly are the man!
    Now I'm pretty sure I know what to do to fix this ongoing issue, I've had for a year now. It got so frustrating so bought a different car last year.
    I didn't realize there is an external fuel filter. I know exactly what and where it is now thanks to you. I bought and installed a new fuel filter amd the problem didnt resolve. Now I'm forced to drive that car again, at least for a little while and I must get back to solving this puzzle.
    I shall keep you posted but I'm stoked to have a starting place. I just hope it's my last step on thos issue. Thanks man!!!

    Nice work, good visuals from inside the car and great descriptive references interms of where the fuel tank sits while in the car. Nice comment about this is what the part would look like viewing from the back of the vehicle etcetera.

    Do I need any special tools to replace my fuel pump? My experience with workin on cars is I recently was successful at putting a bulb in the back. I thought I was the shit. Now I have to do this. I don't have the money to pay anyone and I can't get anyone over to help because they have prior commitments. I'm screwed. But I can do this right? Yes. So what do I need to know before I delve in lol Thanks!

      Yeah nothing complicated there you just drop the straps you will need the quick disconnect for the fuel line but I mean that’s simple you can Google that that’s super nothing to it yeah you should be able to in about two hours your biggest deals going to be putting Jack on her to make sure that you can handle the weight from the fuel tank if it’s for if it’s empty don’t matter

    I have a clicking noise at rear of my 2001 Sebring Convertible under the car. When I get down to listen, it sounds like it's around the tank area. Kinda sounds like something electronic. Any ideas what it might be?

    my 2004 sebring was having trouble going up hills for a while. engine would stall but would eventually catch and run fine. one day it died completly gong up a hill but electrical things stayed on. I started it back and tried going up again but it died again and never started back. I've been told it could need a fule pump replacement. is there anything else this could possibly be? A cheaper place to start on troubleshooting?

    Hello, thank you for taking the time to help us out. I have a 2003 Seebring coupe, with the 3.0 v6. Was driving fine the other day, went into the store, came out and started the car. It was running extremely rough, on the verge of stalling, and even flooring the gas pedal the rpms never went above 500-700. Then it stalled. I started it a few more times and it kept doing the same thing. I came back later and it would not start at all now. I towed it home and listened for the fuel pump to turn on when you turn the key on. All the fuel pump did was click, it didnt make the normal noise it usually does. So I unhooked the rubber fuel line going to the front fuel rail and turned the key on a few times and not one drop of gas came out. So I am pretty sure it is the fuel pump, but I had a question about whether it could be the relay. I am under the impression that, like you said, a relay is like an employee it either works or it doesnt. The way the car was running crappy and rpms wouldnt go up when you floored it seemed like it was not getting enough fuel, meaning the pump was on the verge of going bad,, then when it wouldnt start anymore it was all the way broke. So if it were a relay, it would have just stopped working completely, not start only giving it a little fuel, then no fuel at all. Am i correct in the this assumption? Also, I am going to try and hot wire the pump directly to the battery to see if it works. Also, my tank is completely full, and if i cannot siphon it out, i may try cutting through underneath the seat, so i dont have to drop the tank, what do you think about that? I dont feel like doing a balancing act with my floor jack and then have gas spill all over me. thanks for any help you can give. P.S. In the past when fuel pumps would go bad, I would kick the fuel tank a few times and it would jar the pump into working long enough to drive car home where it can be replaced. This didnt work for my car though.

    • @jamiejonesthecarman
      @jamiejonesthecarman  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +mrnasty23 okay so the relay will in fact either click on or it won't and also you can swap one from underneath the fuse panel there to see if you can get something else to work but if it's clicking it's probably working as far as cutting the top out I've seen people do it I mean it works it depends on the value of the car if you just don't care and you're just looking for the convenience of it then go ahead but if you were trying to preserve the value of the car I would not recommend that at all

    • @jamiejonesthecarman
      @jamiejonesthecarman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JamieJones TheCarMan and if you do end up cutting it keep that piece you cut out to make a cover back for it and it be alright I wouldn't cut it out and leave it open though LOL I would definitely put the cover back on it

    I have a 1999 Chrysler Cirrus 6cyl and I've had to redrop my fuel tank for the third time this week due to fuel leakage from the collar. I line up the tab with the notch and hold it down as I start to tighten the collar but the opposite side of the unit isn't able to rest completely flush because of the gasket and I've tried every which way that I could think of but it seems like the collar begins to tighten up at a slight angle. The gasket became shredded when it became caught in the threads and luckily I kept the old gasket(which was of better quality than the new one) so I replaced the shredded with that one but I need to ask if I should just go balls to the wall and tighten it up as much as I can? I've been apprehensive and cautious with tightening so far due to the collar being plastic. I won't know if the third time is a charm until I go to the gas station and fill up tank completely but I did tighten balls to the wall this time with the tool because I am damned if I will be dropping the tank a fourth time.

      Ok those are a pain in the ass , without the correct tool , but can be done , will someone help you?

    • @jamiejonesthecarman
      @jamiejonesthecarman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can apply even pressure while the other taps it around also wiggle to make sure gasket is completely seated

      @@jamiejonesthecarman I did have the tool this time for tightening and this morning I am going to try to see if I am able to 'tap' the collar any tighter just to give myself a little extra piece of mind prior to filling up tank with gas because I do NOT want to see any fuel coming out when I do. Thanks for your response. You caught me just as I was getting ready to take care of this...

    Chrysler has made some shitty cars, and they really reveal the downfall of American cars, as they use to be top notched, although American cars have improved somewhat recently.
