മലയാളത്തിൽ :- The dog bite Raman( ആ പട്ടി രാമനെ കടിച്ചു )എന്നതിൽ കർത്താവായ പട്ടിക്ക് (The dog is active) പ്രാധാന്യം കൊടുക്കുന്നു.
Raman was bitten by the dog .( രാമനെ ആ പട്ടി കടിച്ചു ). Here Raman is in passive=(not in active) മലയാളത്തിൽ കർത്തരി പ്രയോഗം :പ്രാധാന്യം കല്പിക്കുന്നത് കർത്താവിനാണെങ്കിൽ വാചകത്തിൽ ആദ്യം കർത്താവും പിന്നീടു കർമ്മവും വരും. കർമ്മണി പ്രയോഗത്തിൽ കർമ്മത്തിനാണ് പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്നത് വാചകത്തിൻ്റെ ആദ്യം കർമ്മവും പിന്നീട് കർത്താവും വരും. രണ്ടിലും ക്രീയക്ക് ഒരു മാറ്റവും വരില്ല.
Raman was bitten by the dog= രാമനെ പട്ടി കടിച്ചു എന്നാണ് പറയുക =object +subject +verb = പട്ടിയാൽ രാമൻ കടിക്കപ്പെട്ടു എന്നാരും പറയില്ല. അത് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വാക്ക് കളുടെ അതേ ശൈലിയിലുള്ള തർജ്ജിമ മാത്രമാണ്.
