    Good timing this video. I went out to the riding school on Friday to brush up on some of my skills I felt were getting sloppy when I ride. It's almost 9 years since I got my motorcycle licence. It was the best 2 hours for me. I recommend every rider should go back to riding school to brush up on their riding skills.

      Why not just ride on normal road instead of going to riding school? You have to pay if you go to the school right? Since you already have your license can just ride on the road right?

    I enrolled my wife with Akademi Propandu, she got no bike experience & wanted to do B Full. The staff there actually **discouraged** her right from the beginning. On her first lesson, she was told straight up to go home learn on someone else's bike until she becomes good, then come back to resume classes. I was like... WTF man??
    Apparently driving schools like that don't teach u to ride, they don't care & to them if you are a noob it ain't their friggin problem so get lost & learn to ride someplace else. They only teach u how to pass the JPJ test.
    Most Malaysians can't even tell the difference between the two, which is why got so many accidents.

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did they discourage before signing up or after signed up then the instructor "advise" to go learn the basics by yourself? If it is the latter (after sign up) just report them and make a big issue, via FB posting or such.. It's their duty (which they are paid for) to provide all the necessary lessons. If they ask you to go self learn first then only sign up with them, technically can't say much since nothing was signed yet.
      It's a f**ked up situation and system but this is Malaysia, not surprising anymore.

      @@thesighbored Of course after paying lah. It was during the ceramah before taking L license that the speaker told her it's not good for ladies to take B Full, better take B2. When she passed her L exam, she made the appointment for classes.... but on her first class they told her to go home learn from somebody else on someone else's bike first and come back to continue classes when she becomes good.
      It was at this point that I realized driving schools don't teach you how to ride, they only teach you how to pass the JPJ test.
      Which is why if you show up at a B Full class without any riding experience, they'll tell you to piss off & take that problem elsewhere. Ye lah... how to teach students how to pass the JPJ test if they don't already know how to ride a bike, right? Teaching you how to ride a bike is not the driving school's problem.
      Should be banned from calling themselves DRIVING SCHOOL. Should be called JPJ TEST PREPARATORY CENTRES.

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it's your right since you paid for the lessons and there was no clause saying you need to know how to ride beforehand.. See what's their response.

Even if you did pay there's no guarantee you'll get your license, AND might have possibility to be asked for more due to some unforseen difficulties or such. Bottom line is, it's not worth the gamble and the price.. Just take it the normal way.

      You can walk in to the driving school office to register/sign up yourself for the package you want. They will then give you the price and you can pay and register or go elsewhere to survey. If the school driving instructor has bad review then you can try avoiding going to that school to sign up, no middle man required to sign yourself up at any school.. But be aware some might not want to take you on for B full if you have zero prior experience riding motorcycle or using clutch.. They will ask you to go learn yourself first then come back.. Hi I tend to have problems on the turns section of this. I just been advised that don't try to clutch / brake on the first entering as it would slow me down too much and I wouldn't be able to complete it. That it's better to just glide in all the way the moment I turn right into the turn's section till the end without any clutch engagement at the start and only nearing the end of the turns section. Can share some advice?

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  ปีที่แล้ว

      Which turns do you mean, the figure 8 turns? I think the driving school bikes are tuned with higher idle so you don't have to give much throttle input and the bike will roll along at a slow pace so you can just focus to balance and turn, no need for braking or giving too much throttle.

    • @han839
      @han839 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thesighbored not the figure 8 one. The one after that the sharp turns.

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@han839 Do you mean 4:20 section? At the speed/pace you are going for this section, you don't need brake, just feathering/controlling the clutch with little throttle input is enough. If you really need to brake, use the rear brake as the front brake will be jilt the front the bike and make you feel or lose stability. As mentioned before, the throttle idle on these trainer bikes are usually set a bit high, so you don't really need a lot of throttle input, managing the clutch to slow down a bit and releasing it slowly to get the bike moving is mostly what you need to do. Sometimes the idle is high enough that it will maintain a slow pace and you don't have to work the clutch either and just focus on the turns.

      There are smaller sized and height riders that can do it, all you need is practice & technique to handle the bike. Once it is moving the bike weight is not a huge issue. You can drop the bike while you learn to handle the bike/weight, that's OK since it has the crash cages.

      Don't worry the driving school that you sign up with will teach you all you need to know to pass the exam, it may not be enough for real road riding but for sake of passing the exam will be enough. If you have zero experience they will start you on kapcai to practice handling the small motorcycle without clutch then move you onto the big bike once you are familiar with the small one..

      If not mistaken, it's only one foot at a time. And yes it's left foot down first and you switch if you need to. Why? Because right foot should be on/covering the rear brake. Then if you need to shift gears or go into neutral (while stopped), then you switch and put your right foot down instead. Even for emergency stop section you are supposed to put your left down after stopping and not both feet down.

      @amatfettuccine2134 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah and that’s only for Class 2B. The equivalent context of B-full license in Malaysia is akin to Singapore’s Class 2A and 2, where the minimum speed to attain for e-braking is 40-45km/h. I also noticed that almost all courses in this video can be completed with half-clutch in gear 1, without minimum or maximum timing.. Not sure if Malaysian standard is way too easy or Singapore standard is way too difficult!

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, they are not tested on actual roads, only for car license they will do that. Personally I think it's good they don't do actual road riding test because all that idiotic arm flapping, raising hand on stop, etc BS is more dangerous on actual roads. Like I said before.. Real life survival is good enough. If you ride a motorbike like a moron, you get killed. Unlike driving a car, if you drive like a moron, you kill others. 😁

      Do you mean if someone has a car driver license, they can ride a motorcycle legally? No, they will need a valid motorcycle driver license.
      If you are asking if someone that knows how to drive a car, will automatically know how to ride a motorcycle, the answer is "maybe". The concept of operating a manual car with gear and clutch is similar to a motorcycle, but the position of these components are different, so they might need time to learn that. Also the handling of a motorcycle is different with driving a car with steering wheel, not to mention various others things.

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Everyone has their different method to handle the bridge so you'll need to find one that suits you.
      Generally the tips are:
      1. Clutch control: Use the clutch to control the rolling speed once on the bridge instead of the throttle;
      2. Rear brake: Use the rear brake to slow down (if needed) to meet the minimum required time on the bridge, don't use the front brake as it will jerk the front end;
      3. Look ahead: Look straight forward instead of looking down at the bridge once you are on it, because if you look down normally you will look at the edges and the bike will tend to go where you are look at;
      4. Balance with legs/foot rest: If you need to balance the bike, some prefer to grip the tank with their thighs, some like to keep their legs loose and press on the foot pegs to balance;
      5. Handle bar: Try not to grip the bars too tightly, and observe it's center point prior to entering the bridge, some of the learner bikes have taken a few falls before and the handle may not be centered correctly;
      I think that's about all I can share. Hope it helps!

Since you need to slow down on the titi for at least 7 seconds, controlling the clutch and balancing the motorcycle is more important. Most of the motorcycles are set to have a higher idle so you don't really need to throttle it for it to move, just control the clutch.
