Yay for going back to school! Hope you enjoy your new studies 😊 As a postgrad, I actually found that the lack of time wasn't necessarily the issue, but the brain exhaustion from studying left little energy for writing. I ended up mainly writing during weekends rather than try to fit it in after a long day. (I had a great time during my MA though)
Starting over is very relatable haha, I just set aside about 14k words of a novella to start over completely because the voice of the main character just wasn't clicking. 500 words into the new version and it's already much better! It's all part of the process isn't it

Oh this is so encouraging to hear! I keep reminding myself that there was a time when I could only manage to write Sunday afternoons and I still finished a book that way. So the "worst case" is really not that bad!
It really is all part of the process but I have to admit, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who starts over so dramatically. Sometimes you can get into your head over your choices as a writer.😅
Thanks so much for watching and commenting 💕

Savannah that is so exciting!! I looked into MFA programs as well as MA level librarian programs and honestly, I just may one day take the same leap. I admit I was too scared and burnt out this time around. 🫠
Congrats on betting yourself. It's going to pay off, I know it 💕 I'd love to hear about your experience one day!

Congratulations on taking the plunge on going back to school. It does take bravery to leave a comfortable position and stand on more uncertain ground. I don't know how libraries function in Canada but as a Finnish librarian I can tell you that your experience in marketing and publishing is valuable. Libraries organize events and other things and all marketing and content creating skills are much needed to make the events successful.
I've also for the longest time have wanted to comment on your ideas about tracking word counts as a measure of progress. I agree with you that daily word count is not a good measure for tracking. It doesn't actually tell how much you have worked each session. I'm an obsessive rewriter so I might rewrite the same sentence tens of times before I find the right way to say something. World count vise this might mean I've only written 30 words in the last hour and when put in this perspective it's not a very "productive" writing session. But I do enjoy watching the total word count of the project grow. Some days it will grow 20 words and on another 250 but it does always grow.
Enjoy your holiday and your trip and I hope school doesn't drown you in home work so you can still find time to write.
Thank you for such a wonderful TH-cam channel. It’s always a joy watching your videos.

Wow, thank you for such an encouraging comment! 🥰 I believe it's very similar here in Canada in terms of experience. I'd love to visit Finland one day!
And you're absolutely correct regarding word counts! I think I am going to challenge myself to be more creative with my daily writing updates because I want to stop contributing to this idea that metrics are what matter!
Thank you so much for your comment and support 💕
