I think we should really feel lucky to be watching Ma Long play in this era because, while there will be other excellent players in the future, there won't be a truly special player quite like him. Relish his active years, folks. He will be missed dreadfully by table tennis fans once he retires.
You can’t say that there won’t be a player as special as him again, but I agree that we should relish his never-ending hunger and dedication to the sport. He’s a student of the game, enjoys watching others play, and appreciates the bigger picture of table tennis

I mean this guy I can't believe I'm still watching him play in such good form. He isn't catching wide forehands as he was when young but I mean he still looks very fresh. His small drop in speed will be compensated with priceless wisdom

I hope we'll be seeing a ML vs. WCQ match in the near future. Normally, when ML has lost a couple of encounters against an opponent in a row, he delivers a specifically impressive performance.
Lin shindong didn't vary much, and versus a player like Ma Long, it is hard to win since Ma can easily predict the next moves. Since prparing forTokyo OG Ma has changed his bh technique into a more stable and efficient one which hides better next ball placement (reminds me of 2014/2015 era). When playing against new gen players (Lin YJ, Wang CQ, Haimoto, Lin SD) Ma Long is able to counter the powerful strokes thanks to his counter technique and the very low angle of DHS special rubber which allows him to put pressure on the opponent and wait for an opportunity. On the other hand he can put extra spin compared to his fellows since he comes from a generation where it was mandatory to play with a lot of spin when playing against Zhang Jike, Ma Lin, Wang Hao. This extra spin on his topspin is what allows him to win in crucial moments againts his fellows since he can't attack as quick as them.

Ma Long served some illegal servers, the camera clearly showing his head hiding the ball just before contact. Example at 8:55

This is a classic example of experience overcoming physique. ML's physique may be deteriorating slowly but his experience, strategic thinking, and mental fortitude easily overpowered LSD's strength and agility. LSD has a lot of potential but certainly has a very long way to go in terms of learning. ML may just be China's Timo Boll.
Lin plays too close to the table to take advantage of the fact that most PRO players serve short.
Ma Lo 0:25 ng's first serve was long and fast, forcing Lin to stay his distance.
