This is the best music Elliot Carter ever wrote. It's the American sounds that our Nation wanted during WW2. If it has some hints of Aaron, Roy, and David, well that's not a bad thing. This is enjoyable. Easy to understand.

They show where measures should be grouped in a particular way, ie: groups of three, or groups of four
