وہ خار خار ہے شاخ گلاب کی مانند
میں زخم زخم ہوں پھر بھی گلے لگاؤں اسے
یہ لوگ تذکرے کرتے ہیں اپنے لوگوں کے
میں کیسے بات کروں اب کہاں سے لاؤں اسے
مگر وہ زود فراموش زود رنج بھی ہے
کہ روٹھ جائے اگر یاد کچھ دلاؤں اسے
وہی جو دولت دل ہے وہی جو راحت جاں
تمہاری بات پہ اے ناصحو گنواؤں اسے
جو ہم سفر سر منزل بچھڑ رہا ہے فرازؔ
عجب نہیں ہے اگر یاد بھی نہ آؤں اسے

One of his finest Ghazals, very hard to sing. Gulam Ali Sahib has been a treat of my life time in this life. Hope I see him in next life also if there is a life after death.

I know that the private audience mean well, it is part of the tradition, and they are truly appreciative of the performer - but it is annoying that they 'make it rain' currency notes on the singer/instrument. It is distracting for the artists and the other members. It seems to be more of an exhibition of the audience ego than the appreciation.
I fully agree that it is very very annoying and personally feel sometimes a bit humiliating but can't be helped as this is supposed to be Nazrana which has continued traditionally for years from the Maharajas and Shahjehans durbar. The colloquial for Nazrana has been redefined as " Choot",though or sometimes as Peshgi.

Music is great but the tradition of throwing money on musicians should change. If one loves the music should pay then the musician later in private. No need that everyone sees it.

with all due respect, i guess money does walk since he never likes it when people are clapping or talking in his concerts but here he deosnt mind people walking or throwing money haha lol....
