Really enjoying your videos, your effort of using Indonesian to communicate with the locals and your sense of humor. Love all of it ma dude, keep it up 👍👍👍💪💪
The last area you explored is PIK which is upper-class residential and commercial area. That place is inhabited mostly by rich Chinese Indonesian. The Asian / European theme places you've seen there are purely made for leisure / recreational purposes. If you want to explore the real Chinatown, its really close to Kota Tua and its called Petak Sembilan. You can try to Google it to get an overview and if you're still in Jakarta, make sure to go there. If you want to explore the local culture of Betawi (real ethnic native of Jakarta), people told me that Setu Babakan is a great place to do that. I never been there but many people told me that its such a nice place for cultural tourism.
I was told PIK was a “modern Chinatown” but it’s closer to a Chinese gated community. The whole vibe was very weird. I’ll explore the real Chinatown next time and I’ll definitely see Setu Babakan. Thank you!!
@@MarkyTeriyaki Lol. yeah some people I think got misconception of PIK as Chinatown since people who live there are mostly Chinese Indonesian. But at least you've experienced the elite part of Jakarta. Looking forward for your return in Jakarta and enjoy your trip !
Blud knows more about Jakarta than I do,This is a bit embarrassing but you are awesome! Even as a local I can still learn about indo from your videos, that's impresive
Don’t be embarrassed! You pick up a lot traveling the country, in the beginning I didn’t know a thing (as you can see in the first vlog in Medan) When I go to Kalimantan I’ll depend on your knowledge wkwk
your vlog is too enjoyable that 30 minutes feels so short. anyway, i'm waiting for u to come to Gorontalo when u visit Sulawesi! maybe i can be ur 1 day guide if u want😄
There will be some 1 hour+ videos coming up, but for editing purposes I prioritize the shorter ones. Sulawesi is high on my list, hopefully I can do it this year!!

Hi Markus....your travel vlog does not seem to be in sequence....you appear to be back in Jakarta but you're probably somewhere else in Java at the moment, right?....yeah PIK is very artificial but it does provide "escapism" from the hustle bustle of hectic Jakarta.....The real OG authentic Jakarta Chinatown is actually very close/next to Kota Tua....so perhaps if you return to Jakarta (maybe on your way out of Indonesia) you can explore it next time.....Stay safe !
Hey! You’re right! Some vlogs are easier to edit than others for various reasons so they’re not chronological! I was told this was a “modern Chinatown” but it was more like a Chinese themed theme park for the upper class, which I really didn’t enjoy. Next time I’ll check out the real deal!! Thank you!
wow you really went all over Jakarta. the Chinese neighborhood is call pantai indah kapuk (PIK). it is mostly reclamation projects for high end residential and apartment. beyond PIK there are fishing villages but they are rather Impoverished, a stark contrast compared to the modern and clean spaces near it.
I saw the fishing village in the distance, it looked massive! The island itself seemed like a place people went to isolate from the city. People literally hid their kid and jogged away when they saw me, insane stuff haha
@@MarkyTeriyaki it can be considered like the Malibu of Jakarta, also its rare to see Europeans in the area since its mostly residential and commercial district. they are not rude, they are most likely shy.
@@MarkyTeriyaki Ahh I see, At first I was kinda confused when u said that Monas was closed at a monday and I though it was yesterday monday because my relatives from the country side went there yssterday and it was actually open 😂
Mau sampai kapan kaya gitu
