Up north in cereals and pulse country. Even in 100 bushel wheat. I have not heard of anyone happy with one. I also have never been in one cutting yet. I enjoy hearing what other farmers have to say about them. Thank you
We were going to get an x9, but glad we didn’t. We ended up getting a new Claas 8600. It was 2/3 the price with 90% of the performance. 400 hours in, and we had zero problems. I’m really surprised at the issues you’re having and would be very disappointed if similar was happening to ours.
for the dust being illuminated too much by the bright lights. Sounds like they need to offer a dust diverter system for the feeder house. there are aftermarket solutions too
Spend $1mil, go looking for aftermarket improvements immediately. Americans need to break this mindset and hold businesses accountable for their terrible performance. What they should do is stop paying for this ineptitude.
that's a heck of an expensive machine - and even I, who had nothing to do with ag at all (cheers from an office in switzerland, cant even imagine a 50ft header here lol) really/sincerely appreciate your no-bs, honest take on it; tale about what the machine can offer to you, what you have to put up with and how it plays in the budget line. good luck and safe harvest next time!
here is the big question would you buy another x9 or wait for the rumored x9 1200 and 1300 that is going around,i personally would like to see a x7 or x8 that is a more practically size for most farmers.
First of all, I just want to say, you produce very intellectual video content. On the ladder issues, which no matter what color of machine, with the X9 being top of the line, John Deere should have integrated an automatic retractable ladder. When the machine is put into gear, the ladder automatically retracts. Sounds like alot but is small change dollar wise compared to other aspects of running a combine. In the end, it's sometimes the small things that make a difference.
I totally get running great old equipment and enjoying low input, low overhead. But I totally get the value of a machine like the X-9. I can’t feed one enough to make it pay off. On the organic side, add in no till and planting green, 200 bushels is the “300” bushel equivalent to conventional
They make so much less combines that they have to make up the operating cost difference by using the farmers desire to always have to have the best in my part of the country. I have a 9750 and 9760.
@@morgcharfarms my point exactly. I've had neighbors follow our planter or combine so they could try to steal the land. They swim in debt playing big shots, and are so hungry for 1 more dollar they will do anything
Some like the ladder and some hate it I've heard. Door handle. Probably an adjustment on it. Think many have felt it could use a little more power. But to much power that one doesn't use. Is worse fuel economy in certain crops. So it is a challenge. Power vs fuel economy. Sounds like the belt thing is really the only big issue. Wonder if others are have that trouble. Adding a fan seems to fix the dust problem pretty well. Some have had bad fuel tanks. Probably a manufacturers defect.
I think he is saying "at their farm" . If you need two tractors pulling two grain carts with two more operators you have to look at efficiency and cost. One combine, one cart and a bunch trucks.
$1mil and the first thing everyone complains about is the damn ladder. The engineers should be demoted. No engineers should be allowed to have any part in drafting of anything until they have worked at least five years in the bottom of the industry they are to engineer in. Americans tolerate way, way too much terrible engineering and craftsmanship in every industry. John Deere especially should be paying patronage dividends back the customers, which have become their only R&D.
Welcome to industrial machinery. deere builds almost half the North American market at 3600 units a year. With 2 x9 models and 4 s Series. Plus this x9 cuts an operator. Bigger machines for less operators. Thats been the trend in ag for decades. I imagine just the engine would coast 2x to change as a 9 litre they are about $30k the 13.5l in the 780/90 is over $50k. A def system cost about half the engine
The basic design of all combines hasn’t changed since threshing machines , with the exception of rotors vs cylinders, the only real change is size and power and a bunch of unnecessary electrical crap to fail , definitely not worth a million $
I’m guessing with case NH coming out with their big combine it will push Deere to increase the power of the x9. You can always use more power. The x9 is a cts on steroids. So Deere has had many years with this design that’s why it’s well built even though it’s a new model combine. They did a good job with it
If you have a big enough combine, you don't have to work at night. Should be sleeping anyway so you are fresh the next day. Working all night is a sign of too much acreage.
You have no clue what the heck you’re talking about. You have obviously never worked a crop farm before. Might be best if you stick with watching vs commenting on topics you’re in no way qualified to give advice or be critical of. 😊
Neil the reason why your experiencing horsepower loss 📉 is our new 2023 2024 model john deere X9 series Combines we at deere turned the power 🔋 down why I don't know
Thanks Neil and I agree with the ladder comment I did the exact same thing only not quite as bad as yours. It is a beast

@@spencerscott6347 I think they are targeted for corn . Not a good small grain machine.

Not complaining about the X9 I really do enjoy it, but I agree the Claas is a great machine.
Thx Neil for you''re honest revieuw,, seems like Deere got a heck of a machine! Glad to hear you're a happy owner of this beast.
love the vidje's btw!
Great review I enjoyed the education. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Dundalk, Ireland.

Very good review, i run red but it's always interesting to hear about other machines.
For the dust you could put yellow film like lights used in the desert rallies with the yellow light the dust isn’t illuminated
Great idea thanks

I just run a 9600 and sometimes a s670. Does this beat a new Holland cr10.90?
I would guess the new Holland at more capacity but I really have no idea I’ve never been in the field with one.
@@DentonFarms always interesting to see these new giants wen I'm in the old 9600 shucking and chisel plowing. Big x9 and lex guy next to us.

Great video Neil
Not sure why they don't have power ladders like a sprayer on combines yet
We hope they make some changes to power ladders!

Good review! John Deere, balls in your court to fix a few minor issues……
They will find the solution by looking at the new New Holland, you know, the company they stole the technology from
Why not just run a S790 ? Or is the X9 bigger
The X9 is bigger offers more capacity. S790 is still a huge machine though. Both plenty expensive. 🤣
Used to you farmed to live - now you have to live and farm to pay for machines. Sad.

Farmers did this to themselves, so I find it hard to feel sorry for them

How do you figure the x9 with 50’ head does more than two 670s? Two 35’ heads = 70’ 👀
