Topic: Valuation of Stock Based on Historical Market PE Ratio
Stock valuation can be done using historical market PE Ratio. PE ratios of the Market of last five years are taken. PE ratios of the company of last five years are also taken. Then Company PE ratio was divided by the Market PE ratios in each year. Then average of the Company PE ratio/Market pe ratio is taken. Whatever the average value is, it is expected that the current stock pe should be, current market pe multiply average stock pe/market pe. Then expected pe ratio of the company will be found. If we multiply the pe ratio with the expected annualized EPS we will get the expected price of the share. It is a very easy but reliable technique to value a share and get some idea about the stock. This method will just give the investor idea about the stock, whether the company is being traded at reasonable price in the market or not. If stock price is found to be fairly traded or undervalued as per this valuation method, further analysis can be done for taking position in the company’s stock. This method will help the beginners in the stock market.

অনেক ক্ষেত্রে দেখা যায় কোন কোন কোম্পানীর ৫ বছরের পিই পাওয়া যায় না থাকে না, ২/৩ বছরের পিই পাওয়া যায়, নতুন শেয়ার বা কিছু বিশেষ শেয়ারের ক্ষেত্রে এইটা হয়, সেক্ষেত্রে কি কি চেঞ্জ করে ভ্যালুয়েশন করতে হবে? ধন্যবাদ।
First of all, this valuation model should not be used for company that does not have long history. because in the initial years companies are traded at higher PE ratio. So the model may mislead you.
If you still want to use the model, then Take the PE of the company for available years and the same periods' Index PE. For example PE of the company of last 3 years is available. In such case take last 3 years PE of the company and index. and calculate as per video. In this case you will take the average for three years instead of five years. Other things will be same.

First of all thanks for this kind of great effort. I tried SquarePharma Valuation but could not do it because of it P/E ratio- year 2015, 2015-16 and 2017. Hopefully we will get the solution .. thanks again.
In case of SQURPHARMA PE of 2015 & 2017 is ok. For the period 2016 take the yearly PE of 2016; that is April 15 to March 16 PE which is 13.34 in the website...for the previous years PE ratio you can calculate PE ratio by taking the price & EPS of previous years(2013 & 2014). PE Ratio = Price/EPS.

@@FinanceSchoolSihab vai, I have an query regarding this. As you said the paid up capital need to be in optimal level to meet this theory. So what should be the idle range of paid
up capital?
There is no specific rule..I said not to use this model in low paid up stock because for low paid up stock, small change in net profit can greatly affect EPS which will ultimately lead to change the PE Ratio in big amount. For low paid up stock you will see massive ups and downs in PE Ratio. For example if you check the PE Ratio of MONNOCERA, AMBEEPHA, LIBRAINFU, you will see massive fluctuation in PE Ratio over the years. So if you apply the method for those companies, the results may mislead you.

Pl.comments on Beacon Pharma.I calculated on basis of 1st August & found price valuation is Tk. 61.08.
Beacon Pharma should not be valued using this valuation technique because in the initial years, the company had very low eps due to which PE ratio was abnormally high...as i said if there is abnormal fluctuation in the PE ratio that company should not be valued using this model...thanks...

latest PE ration of FIRSTSBANK is showing today 9.9. but calculation showing 5.63. so can you help me to calculate latest PE ratio.
As on 30.7.3018
Half Yearly EPS of FIRSTSBANK is Tk. 0.50.
So Annualized EPS is Tk. 1.
Share Price - 9.9
so PE Ratio - 9.9/1 = 9.9
You have calculated PE Ratio based on First Quarter EPS.
As i have said, as soon as new EPS comes, we should consider the latest PE ratio based on latest EPS. Thanks for your question. Stay with us.

Some company found listing year 2013. So they have PE ratio 2014-2017. How can we calculate their expected PE?
I would suggest not to do valuation of those company using this model, as in most cases, in the initial year PE of the stock is higher...so the model may mislead you...but if you still want to use the model you can consider four years data...Take four years Market PE and four years stock PE then proceed in the same way that i have shown in the video...Thanks
