    The #1 thing going for them is that they're starting to do more U.S. made tools.

      Agreed. After hearing about that, I'm going to buy another set of wrenches from them but getting the US made ones when they become available.

      😁 right about now is the right time to start buying USA made tools....ppl are losing their jobs. The problem is Taiwan makes really really long lasting tools. Idk but if im buying USA tools, it would have tobe Cornwell. All the Major tool truck brands have some Taiwan made tools in one way or another.

      @ViperMods_216 Bought a set of their USA 🇺🇸 made pry bars ... very happy with em. I bought in a pinch one of their adjustable wrenches maybe made in who knows where probably PRC sucs balls. Buy their American made stuff you'll be happy.

      I agree USA! Please believe me, it took me a long, long time to consider foreign made tools! Its a long story, please believe me. Ok, anyway almost 4 years ago or so i bought the Tekton 84 complete 1/2" socket set to keep in my truck for on the road repairs, well they now reside in one of my tool box'es even though it made in Taiwan, still have not broke one yet, so i then bought the china made 263 craftsman for my truck, i dont care if i loose one of them sockets, tekton sockets is what made me come around, well to make short, in my opinion, our USA tool manufacturer's are telling china and others to make tools cheep for higher profit, i have no proof of my opinion, just a good educated guess , so tekton and blue point, i m getting used to it, it took a long time, i m a snap-on tool junkie all the way, i m trying to except the fact that a lot of our stuff is made over sea's.

    I have been using Tekton for 2 years now. their quality it top notch. best impact sockets I have ever used. just bought the 1/4 swivel sockets. very impressed. I just wish their sockets were made in the USA. I try to buy USA made tools whenever possible. I would rather put my money in another Americans pocket, hopefully that he will put in yet another Americans pocket, until that money eventually comes back to my pocket. buy supporting our own economy we raise each other up. the old saying is true, a rising tide raises all ships.

      @@jeremyhill2046 I restore old first and second gen Camaros as a hobby. so Tekton works great for me, I get professional quality tools without the tool truck price. I learned a lesson about using cheap/low quality tools a few years ago. I almost lost a finger to using cheep tools from HF, I was removing a clutch fan, the wrench I was using was loose fitting and rounded off the head of the bolt and my hand slipped in between the aluminum flex fan radiator, thank god I was wearing mechanics gloves, but even then I ended up with a lot of stitches.I also had to re-core the radiator after damaging it with the wrench. after that I quit using cheep tools. between the doctors bills and the cost of the re-core on the radiator, I could have bought a decent set of tools. most of my stuff is old USA made Husky or Craftsman, but they do not make tools in the US any more, and the quality went to hell. and it is impossible to replace if broken or worn out. I had been looking for a new high quality tool brand for a while, one of my friends who is a profession diesel mechanic, recommended Tekton. I needed new impact sockets so I gave them a try. I was not disappointed. after two years of heavy weekend use, and 2 Camaros later, they still look like new. I am very impressed.

Then a few mroe days after that I should be receiving a 1/2 F to 3/4 M adapter and a 1 7/8 socket 6 pt. by them. I wasn't ever going to buy Tekton, but what sold me is their non skips. I've known about the student purchasing program for a while now. We had one of their reps come to the college and gave us a really nice display/performance of the tools. They allowed us to even use some of them on the cars we had on the floor. Obviously the other M's also had their days, but the funny thing was, they only brought like a ratchet and their newest cordless tool, and only showed us the tools in the class room and talked a lot. SO never even came out. That was funny,... sad really, because the shop was in desperate need of new tools and boxes. Believe it or not, it was so sad because we had to hunt around in the tool boxes to find the basic tools. Anyway, I really liked the presentation, plus the tools and their student program as well as premade box-sets that you can add on as time goes by.

      Jeremiah Mckenna I actually have purchased from several different makers . for example I purchased the tekton crowsfoot, but I I purchased the crowfoot flare nut set from snap on . I have the flex head ratcheting wrenches from Matco, but I have the double box long flex from snap on. I have a Milwaukee stubby 3/8, and a few more m12 goodies , I also have some of the snap on impacts. I have the 1/2 sae and metric set,(the bigger one that has up to 32mm) from Tekton, but I also have the FDX sockets from snap on in 3/8. I do feel that you sell yourself short if you just stick to one brand.
      I have a few break bars from matco and some of their sockets mainly .
      I have their larger 3/8 and 1/2 adv impact sockets , (they are Taiwan) I didn’t know that before . But they seem to be good quality . I got a lot of my matco at 65-70% off .
      I was going to get the tekton wrench kit
      But I opted out to get the snap on wrenches flank drive plus . I might not need the open end as much but I do like having the feature . The larger sizes after 25 I have in their regular flank drive as they do not make the open end with the plus .
      But I also use my DEWALT Costco set a lot lololol. Tools are as good as its user.
      I haven’t used every tool I have . But I’ve learned something .
      We learn bad habits by not having the correct tools. As I added different tools to my collection I learned how to use them and now my work is so much easier.

      @@obravo85 It all depends on the technician. I agree that Mac/So have some nice tools, and their specialty tools are great. Maybe snap on mac and matco will lower their prices 🤷‍♂️😂 probably not. I still like my snap on and mac tools but tekton is solid, so is icon imo. Both are cheap options, amd the icon chrome sockets look a lot like the snap on ones and I think they fit better than the snap on ones and tekton ones. But tekton makes a solid ratchet, wrenches, pliers, they are a good brand. Its good to see that smaller companies are stepping up against the big dogs. But again, snap on back in the day were affordable and were proud of it. But over time they slightly raised the prices of their tools since they know people will fork over a ton of money for a quality tool. We shall see as time goes on

    Hope everyone enjoys those 6 point ratcheting wrenches!! Have fun re-indexing that 6 point in tight places!! They told me via a few email exchanges, that they had NO, ZIP, ZILCH, NADA, plans to make ANY 12 point ones, EVER. The man's argument was, "in the rust belt you have to have 6 point for rusted fasteners..." and, "You must be from the south". NO I just turn wrench's for a living and on the side both. You don't use a ratcheting wrench to break a fastener loose. That is the whole point of "Use the right tool and maintain the tool". But you can't get through to some people.
    Otherwise, I have several Tekton tools at home, and a few at work. Good quality none the less. Just hoping for a change of heart on the 12 point RW's. 6 point RW's would get on my nerves after having to pull out of a space to re-index to get on the fastener.

      I've run into this same problem. I bought one of their 10mm ratcheting wrenches with a specific maintenance item in mind where the bolts are out of my line of sight. I don't like having to continuously turn the wrench until it falls on the bolt to break it loose. I really like Tekton but this is lame.

    • @seabass22
      @seabass22 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The whole point is so you don’t round off the fastener. They’re the only ones I know of, that offer 6 point ratcheting wrenches. Within reason anyway.
      What are you going to use to break loose a 6 point fastener? A 12 point box wrench?

    Tekton needs to start selling foam inserts for their tools. Their red plastic boxes suck. They are huge and its impossible to read the size print. Not having foam organizers is a deal-breaker for me. I can't afford to be throwing those constant 15 to 30 secs, every time I need to find a tool. I also can't afford to lose tools. I want to be able to open a drawer, do a quick scan and immediately spot any missing tools. Also what good is a warranty when I lose many more tools than break them. I need superior organizational capabilities within my tool box. Please take a look at how Sonic Tools organizes their tools with foam inserts and provide a similar Tekton solution.

    My SnapOn toolbox was less expensive than the comparable Tekton box; talk about a RIP OFF! The only thing I would consider buying from them again would be the impact sockets but the laser crap needs to go and some actual stamping needs to happen. Prybars are just rebranded Wilde tools (originally made for Craftsman) the other “USA made” stuff performs like the steel was imported in and never treated properly, and the new ratchets are trash... If I’m going to cheap out on tools, I’ll just buy them at Harbor Freight, otherwise, I’ll stick with my SnapOn tools that don’t feel cheaply made and perform every time.

    • @jmackinjersey1
      @jmackinjersey1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you buy a USED Snap on box, or one 25 years ago? Because I've done the comparison, and even Snap on's Heritage box is more than Tekton.
      Heritage 53 inch wide 20 inch deep $3750
      Tekton 60 inch wide 24 in. deep $2,950
      Tekton 60 inch wide 30 inch deep $3,450
