    Hey Bear! My company has a lot of Rousseau cabinets, those slots in the sides of the drawers are for a metal divider system. My company has them so they can store CNC tooling in them. They're pretty sturdy cabinets, and get the job done. I'm impressed with them.

    as a professional barber of 30 years, ive used a small craftsman (aka waterloo) 26 incher as my "tool box" in the barber shop for decades now (& yeah, if u can put wrenches in it, then why not clippers & shears) & waterloo makes a good box ...but my wife recently bought me a big 44" husky box, & for a shade tree mechanic who enjoys workin on vintage cars, its been a good one so far, its the nicest one ive ever had... but a box like the ones u were showing in the video are obviously more geared towards a professional mechanic, & way more than id like to spend, despite the fact im sure theyre worth it... & on that note, to draw a parallel, most folks would gasp as how much we barbers pay for "professional" clippers & such, but hey, if ur makin ur living with it... but tektons certainly makin a name for themselves... i rekon somebodys gotta fill the gap that craftsman left when they were needlessly "murdered off" ...thanx bear, enjoy all ur videos, & god bless

      Yep. My sister used a 26" Craftsman top chest for years when she was working in and managing a "salon". She still has the box but isn't in the "hair business" anymore. She got tired of employees bitching about work schedules and calling off work leaving her to cover their shifts. She's now my business partner in the little trucking company that our dad started.

      I would love to have a tool box with only 6 & 8 inch drawers to use as a dresser in my bedroom for clothes and EDC. I'm still waiting because I like things that are over built and a place to lock my valuables up. If I were a barber I would want ones as well for the shop.

    I bought one directly from Rousseau, 84 inches (its 60 inches plus a 24 inches drawer cabinet, when u buy from rousseau EVERYTHING is custom made for you). Im awaiting delivery but i have coworkers who have rousseau, and they are absolutly worth the price. Another coworker bought a snap on 30 inches for 3.5k$, i bought more than double the size of his toolbox for 5k$.
    And the fact that they open 100% is absolutly amazing

    The drawers and slides look very similar to that of Lista and they also have similar weight rating, 440 lbs for the Lista. If this is similar quality to Lista, then it's a really good deal.

    I really dig these new Tekton boxes. They're a pro user box at a price point that serious home users can justify. I'm envious of those incredible weight capacity figures. My Milwaukee home grade box does the "overloaded shimmy" on a few of the drawers. I don't think people realize how easy it is to exceed a 100 pound drawer limit.

The reviews confirmed what I found after using some combination wrenches for the first time, they are nice and work well. I have bought more and have been pleased with the quality of all pieces bought. Is there any word on if a top chest will be showing up in the future?

    I’m liking those Tekton boxes, mainly for the quality and rigidity. The basics are fine with me. I use my pickup truck for the purposes it was created for, not as a “fashion statement”. The 36” Tekton box would fill my needs quite nicely as all it’s going to do is hold my tools.

    My .02: The drawers use sealed roller bearings, not exposed ball bearings, they should roll smooth after many years in a dusty environment. It looks like the casters have grease fittings, is that correct? Would have liked to see some interior photos of the lower structure of the cabinet with the drawers removed. Perhaps there is thicker material that reflects its price. Last thing is sprung wheels. If you are a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic that frequently takes your tool box to the vehicle, this is a valuable feature. Otherwise how often do you move your box? In my case when you loose something and absolutely must retrieve it.

  • @chucks4328
    @chucks4328 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like the idea of a heavy duty box without the frills I don't need. That's my complaint about the Icon box. I don't need a power drawer. I mostly don't care for the small drawer layout of the Icon either. I can't honestly see myself buying a Tekton box either. They may be fabulous boxes but I just can't picture myself spending that much money on a box sight unseen. I want to see something in person and bang it around and get a feel for how it's made. I bought some Tekton impact sockets and they are nice but I'm still a hands on type person.

    This is a real industrial quality box. As it was stated in the video they are made by Rousseau Metals. Going straight to the source you can find distributors in the US and competing pricing. There are more color choices and you can literally setup a box just like the Tekton offers . I was just lucky enough to pickup a used 36x27 Rousseau R-line with stainless steel top cabinet for $180 from Iowa. I made a 6 hour round trip going with just pictures. Boy I’m happy I drove there for the box . My cabinet is similar to the 36x24 Tekton but was setup for one 4” drawer and a full extension bottom sliding shelf and no handle. I just quoted drawers and will get 4 new ones and the factory handle. The 4 casters have 2 grease fittings each... wow.

    Use those slots on the edges of the drawers on Stanley Vidmar tool cabinets. You insert lengths of metal pieces across to create different sized trays to organize all kinds of stuff. Snap-On has a similar system but they only do it i=on one drawer in the cabinet.

    The #1 biggest reason to buy name brand toolboxes and tools is that they won't depreciate as much. Other than that, there is not a lot of reason to buy Snap-On, Matco, Cornwell, Mac, etc. They are top quality, but the name is the big value. There is stuff available nearly their equal for a lot less money.

    Where I am located, receiving something made of sheet metal that does not arrive dented or smashed is everything. Picking something up at local vendor and letting them handle items with these problems is often the best option. I have also learned that ordering things like metal boxes, refrigeration equipment, etc. in winter is never a good idea. Anything soft like plastic is going to get brittle, everything slides around, and handlers tend to be be clumsy when it gets cold. LTL shippers seldom accept responsibility for anything. Good packaging and a good policy for damaged goods makes all the difference. Receiving damaged goods from even the best vendors who will make it right can be a nuisance and anything else gets a whole lot worse. This Tekton box looks like a good product and I might be a buyer if I am in need of another one.

  • @ecleveland1

    It looks like a solid tool cabinet but I foresee a lot of returns due to damage from shipping, They need to rethink their packaging because we all know that shipping companies will destroy an anvil if given the chance. I like the way the inside of the drawers are set up like a Lista cabinet so you can use that type of organization system. The tray and slide system looks impressively strong and well built. Did y'all notice the size of the bearing on the slide? I really like the lift to open anywhere drawer latches, a big plus in my opinion. Looks like it has a soft or automatic close that doesn't slam shut and they are full-extension drawers so you can make better use of every square inch. I like the full-width drawers also. I tend to always think tool cabinets and boxes are all too expensive so I'm going to say I would like to see the cabinet shown here to be closer to the $2000 mark or less. Let's face it brand recognition is a big factor for professional tool cabinets if you can pick up used well-taken care of Snap-on, Matco, or Mac in your favorite color for around $2500 or a new lesser-known brand box most guys are going for the used big-name boxes, and their name recognition and reputation are going to make these boxes hold value over time. They may not be $6000 like when they were new but if you take care of a used Snap-on box that was in good shape when you purchased it you will probably get your money out of it if you sell it in 5 years. The companies that are new to the tool storage market are going to have to give some really good deals so they can build a name for themselves and then be able to gradually increase the price equal to or more than a used better-known brand name box from the big tool companies.

    Catching this 2 months late but $2500 seemed steep at first.
    After watching and considering: Decently priced when compared to Icon (really the only other budget prosumer box I have looked at) however it does miss some of the bells like the charging drawer, stainless top, top and side cabinets, etc.
    Big for me for something like this since it doesn't have power is being able to add a side locker that I can run power too. The icon side cabinets are 1" too wide (or 5" too narrow) and the USG side cabinets are 2" too small.
    Also, will this support those in the rim of the cabinet without much modification? Anyone done that?
    Currently I have a 28" Kobalt with a top cabinet that still works great but is feeling too small.

True test is to open up a drawer rated for the most weight and just go ahead and step in it all the way and see if it breaks lol , that’s the make or break for me. Only because if it holds weight well it will be able to still slide smooth completely stuffed full . Love your reviews !

    I think these are slightly over priced. I would love to pick up one of the 36" models as it would suit my needs at work better than the larger cabinets would. I wish more companies offered 36" rollers. Be nice if they more color options too.

    I’ve been looking at icon boxes for the past few weeks. So right now it’s hard to say it’s want to spend $2600 for a 48” box when icon has the 56” box for $2200 and has options like the stainless steel top and hutch.

    • @cjcooper4370

      After watching the video, I think I would go with the 60x30, because I really do like my bosses snap on epic that’s 30” deep. I do with they had a SS top or some other type of metal top for it. My husky box is only months away from catastrophic failure because I have it over loaded, so I honestly may be going with a Tekton box rather than the icon.

    $2500 is a lot. I guess I would say if the reinforcements and the locking mechanisms are similar to the tool truck offerings then probably ok. But price is prohibitive to the garage diyer in my opinion. You have to have a ton of tools to fill it. I think value for the diyer is still HF U.S. General.

    Too expensive to me because you can get a 40” slide top Snap On roll cart for a little under 2,400$ retail. That’s a bit smaller but you can also find them in good condition used for 1,000-1500 usually. I don’t quite get who their market is too because if I’m spending that much I’ll probably spend a little more for a tool truck brand.

    Can't tell you anything about the price without knowing what gauge the steel is. I mean if the thing's made out of 18 and 16 gauge steel, no. If it's made out of 12 gauge and 14 gauge, probably yes.

  • @MikeBrown-ii3pt
    @MikeBrown-ii3pt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd say it's worth the price and if you REALLY want sprung casters, I'm sure you could find them elsewhere and bolt them on. I might like it better if it had an option for a 1 1/2" or so wood top (on top of the 12 gauge that you mentioned) but again, I'm sure I could find or make that too. Luckily for me (and my credit card balance), I'm not in the market for a new cabinet...right now lol!

  • @andybub45
    @andybub45 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm ok with the price because it's obviously a high quality box. But Tekton needs to make a triple bank (73" or 80") and they need to offer hutches, stainless tops, and side lockers. Then I would buy it.

  • @jameslarson7452

    Nah, I'll never load those drawers enough to justify the effort. Standard slides work and I'm not on a submarine anymore so no locks needed. No regrets having splurged on the "Milwaukee" chest/workstation (for the heavier gauge steel, soft closers, nice double lever on/off caster locks).

    Lista and Stor-Lok are the only things that compare. I will say that they are ugly compared to a nice snap on box, but you need to go to an epiq to get the weight rating, and even then its not on all the drawers. I am shopping lista right now and not tekton because of the sizes. As some one else said, they need a top box or they need to make them taller like a lista TSDW12C10-1901FL-M

    I agree with Mad Scientist. The drawers are super nice and I really appreciate the fact that you can get 400 pounds per drawer. But it’s just way too expensive. You know checked in it’s one of those companies that in some ways it’s an alarm to Harbor freight in the way that they tried to provide quality tools for an affordable price. I like that mentality and that’s why I buy from both tool companies. however I am a DIY or or a maker however you want to call it. And I wouldn’t spend that kind of money my a tool box When I have affordable option that’s almost as good if not better and someways like US General.

    Too much money for me, but I believe they are quality boxes marketed more towards an entry level service tech than a DIY guy. Hopefully they have a financing program in place. The cash back is a big plus, you can get a nice group of tools for $250.

  • @boosted2.4_sky

    Extreme Tool's isn't a "Strictly tool boxes" owned box ...Extreme Tools has been around a long time..... it's actually the biggest, or one of the biggest competitors to the Snap-on boxes before ICON was even a glint in your eye..🤭
    So yeah I'll say it ...in this day and age if a company who is selling tool boxes( regardless of how nice they are) if you want to compete with Snap-On you have to offer credit...
    Harbor Freight found that out when they introduced their ICON line and right away that credit card came out so that people would actually buy it.... TEKTON is going to have to do the same to be competitive...
