Odissa is the 1st state to be formed on linguistic lines in 1st April 1936 after an agitation uniting areas from Madras presidency and Odiya speaking areas from Bihar-Odissa. This inspired others to demand states on linguistic basis.

But, ma'am in the 2022 version of the history book, it is written that the 1st state to be formed on linguistic lines was Andhra due to the protests held because of the death of Potti Sriramulu, who was fasting for 58 days for a seperate state for tamil speakers.
