I lived there for a couple of years back 30 years ago. If you love the outdoors and unspoiled nature it is paradise. I lived on base at CFB Goose Bay when it was still going strong so it was a good time. Went back a few years ago to take a look around and I have to say I am saddened to see how much the base had changed. A lot of the infrastructure is gone and the base seems almost deserted now. If you are going to visit I suggest taking the long way up through Quebec and down the TransLabrador highway. It is a long drive but allows you to experience some of the most beautiful parts of this great country. Stay in hotel/motels or take a camper. I do not recommend tenting it because of the bugs and bears. Early summer is the best time to travel there or fly in during the winter and get yourself out on a snowmobile.
Labrador is my home! I doubt you'll ever make it up that far again, but if you do (or if anyone else reads this) I HIGHLY suggest making it further inland. Churchill Falls (my hometown) has the second largest underground power plant in the world, and you can take a tour! 1000 feet underground!
From LABRADOR MY HOME , I could not even bare to fathom the breakast at 4:34 clip, Thai mashed sweet potatoe what ? LABRADOR WILL, give to you whatever it is pleased with regards to weather , you just have to prepare and LOVE ALL She gives , you will not be disappointed ! !
Hi, Seth K. hughes, I have experienced Labrador a lot. I grew up in one of the communities on the southern tip, West Ste. Modeste. I had a lovely childhood there, along with my 12 brothers & sister, Irish Catholic background. I go back almost every summer. Loved your video. The lady giving the tour of the light house lives a few doors a way from my house, we went to school together. If you were lucky at all you could have seen Caribou, Moose, Porcupine, blackbears, Polar Bears(we had one this spring 2017 up behind the house, they come south with the ice flow sometimes) & wolves. But, only if you spend time there, & less likely if you are just passing through. I have seen lots of Icebergs in July, so a little surprised there wasn't at least one still floating around still. One place I suggest to anyone wanting to visit, beside the places you already showed on the video, is Battle Harbour. A little village on an island about a 30 minute tour boat ride from Mary's Harbour, a little further up the coast, worth the visit if visiting Labrador. Just a note, for travellers, the road from Red Bay up to Mary's Harbour will be getting paved starting this spring, 2017. They will be doing about 160 km, & eventually the whole TransLabrador Highway will be paved in the next 2 to 3 years.
Wow! Thank you for your insightful comment. It must have been very special growing up in Labrador. I can only imagine. So the iceberg polar bear phenomenon is true? Incredible! There was one iceberg that drifted by in the night when while we were there but unfortunately it was hardly visible from L'Anse Amour the next morning. I hope to return someday to see Battle Harbor and perhaps drive the rest of the hwy. Best wishes.
A Glynn , such an amazing idyllic place to be from. So clean and unspoiled. How does one be able to stay, financially, in such remote places. I m glad you get to visit.
Seth K. Hughes .Hi Seth, I always look forward to your great videos and long may they continue. The previous video was awesome and I could almost feel your pain.
Your travels to the far northeast illustrate why only rugged souls venture to go. Loved the factoid graphics, and great footage masterfully combined into an interesting excursion. Thanks
Hi, Seth, I watched many videos on your channel. To be honest with you I love to travel and explore stunning places just like you. I must say man I really liked all of your videos. You've covered spectacular places; they are real amazing. I hope I will find some more travel trip videos from your adventure. Finally, you have an amazing life man!
Thank you so much Ayaz. It is wonderful to hear that people like you enjoy following along. My hope is to inspire others to set out and discover new places. Even if it is in their own backyard, it is always worth it in the end. Cheers!
when the weather is not miserable the black flies will cart you away. Take you pick. Beautiful country though. You can get bake apple pie in NL as well. They don't use butter in the crust....
Awesome, done very well. I will go to Labrador and Newfoundland this summer. I liked your solar panel on the top of the airstream, was it enough in the cloudy Northeast.? Is there anything that you could pass on that you were do different? I've got the Mercedes sprinter with diesel fuel, it's a little smaller than what you had but what do you think any comments? Tommy in Houston
I would love to go back to NF/L... I'm envious of your trip! I have 520 watts of solar on the roof, so it was enough most of the time. We travel with a Yamaha generator that came in handy once or twice as well. We prefer to camp off-grid and there is plenty of space out there. My best suggestion is to try arrive in June when the whales and icerbergs are plentiful! We arrived in July and it was a little too late.
Hey! Pretty cool movie. Love the transitions and the wee info in the beginning, apart from the views. I was wondering how did you get the panoramic shots of the light house? Did you use a drone ? If so, what would you recommend? Cheers!
Thank you Luis! Yes, that was drone cinematography. I use the DJI Phantom 4. It is a magnificent tool for aerial photography and video. Here is the link... amzn.to/2aFRTCb
Seth K. Hughes that is awesome. Thanks for the info. I had a look at them and I may go for the Mavic, being portability an issue in my case. One last question, what program did you use for the general info part right in the beginning ? Adobe pro? Cheers !
My dream is to visit Newfoundland and Labrador but I'm more interested in Labrador than Newfoundland lol. At least on Google Earth Labrador looks completely empty literally I was only able to find one road in the entire main land of the Province.
Nice video. I've always wanted to go to Newfoundland and Labrador. However, it would have been nicer without the music, especially when someone's talking.
Has anyone here experienced Labrador? If so, what was your impression?

Great video! Do you know how hard it was to find videos about Labrador the region instead of the dog breed???
Not at all. I anticipated the situation and just searched for ‘Labrador Canada’. Came right up.
Me too I thought the results would show the dog so I searched Labrador canada

Thanks for the comment. We’d love to get back up there to see more, including more whales and icebergs! Did they end up paving the TLH?
@@SethKHughes I'm not sure if its 100% completed yet, but the vast majority of it is!! Yahoo!
@@GillDawe 88% paved as of 2020. Paving contiunues in 2021 and 2022 to complete the remining 150kms left unpaved.

Absolutely wonderful. 3 years 7 months and a few days until I can come and go as I please. No more 9-5.
Jesus Christ I can feel your pain. Are you done with work?
I love ❤️ it so much i didn't have to skip. Such an amazing video.
Beautiful video ... thank you for sharing. There is no bad weather ... only wrong clothing ❤️

I don't know. I would call the visitors center. They could definitely let you know.

Another great adventure Seth. Living the dream.
Thanks Steve. This adventure was much easier going than the last! haha

Spring has sprung! Now, get off your ass! Go somewhere!

I really want to drive from where I live in Central NY to Newfoundland and Labrador. I want to go see the Viking ruins. Did you go see them?
You absolutely should. Unfortunately we missed the ruins on this trip.
Loved it! TFS
Great video! Were the mushrooms poisonous? Love the Lighthouse tour. Thanks for sharing.
A Heart Beat Thank you! Poisonous? No. Delicious? Yes. ;)
Nice Video!
I should visit here once
I love your boxer dog (grew up with them) and the beautiful scenery of Labrador.
Thank you Phyllis. She is the best dog we could ask for.
You need to drive up the coast further towards Lake Melville to experience the festivities I am from Central Labrador and I can be your Tour Guide 😝
+Reed Tuttauk Thank you. I would love to take you up on your offer! Someday... haha

Okay enjoy this video but I could use a sub or two
Shucks! Where's the Labradors? 😩
