Lego WW1: Battle of Liege

- This was a massive project which took me around a month with many re takes of shots as well as screenplays shots and improvised shots and scenes. I learned a lot about this battle while making it and so I hope you enjoy my longest video yet!

Nice! I haven't seen anyone do the Belgian front in ww1 lego stop motions. Really nice to see that someone did
Im very proud you made this. It is an amazing video. I am a Belgian and I love it that you made this video about how our military fought against the germans. You almost never see an belgian lego battle. Amazing job dude.
yeah and in this battle, they actually fought well and to the death in some points, minus miscommunications with their officers, I always like doing other countries which aren't that known
@@EMP_Films those miscommunications are mostly because we had at that time 2 languages. (Now 3 because we got german lands after the war) The common soldiers spoke mostly dutch and the officers spoke french . Also the belgian army had tons of forts around the country. Antwerp had 12 forts i believe and the germans never attacked them but destroyed them all with their artillery. The belgians would have never fought so brave if our king at that time reorganazed the army 3 years before the war. He also fought allongside with his troops in the trenches. He is our most respected king. Thank you for the answer tho. Keep up the amazing work.

@@katyusha3138 yeah I was very interested in belgium during ww1 when researching this battle and their uniforms and how they had to scrounge and so had a lot of variation in their uniforms. The reason for the pullout of Liege was due to a squad of germans getting lost from their platoon and heading into the city because they thought they had already took it and found the belgians and the commander of the entire city and had a skirmish which scared the commander and so he pulled out most of his forces. Also, the Belgians were the only army other than Norway to use dogs to carry their machine guns

This looks really nice and love the figs and effects that make it very classic looking. Might wanna try using ease in and out for some of the faster movements like falling down from getting shot since now you have plenty of frames but those movements don’t look convincing enough but keep making more man

I loved all of the different effects
Loving the classic lego style ww1 film,such a good quality way of doing a Ww1 stop motion as a lot of brick films are made mostly with custom mini figs when it comes to ww1 and ww2 and other.
yeah well I had to improvise since there arent any ww1 early belgians, however I have bought a lot of ww1 tmc figs which I need to use
The belgian minifigures are incredibly done and very creative. It's so rare to see them in stopmotion. I subscribed, I also do lego ww1
Yeah I wanted to represent them more as they are really underdone and their uniforms are very unique and interesting

Another thing to add. The Belgian uniforms. This is what a lot of people miss. They don't realize that napoleon had literally died, only 94 years prior to ww1. Everybody was still wearing colorful uniforms. During the first engagements, the French formed freaking lines with bright 1870-style uniforms. The Germans literally switched from Prussian blue to field gray the moment the war started, and the Brits were doing the same thing, switching their red uniforms with khaki. Bernard Montgomery literally sharpened his sword. The big generals had their military careers in the 1800s. People literally thought warfare was going to be fought in lines and bright uniforms with glorious cavalry charges and brass bands. WW1 literally changed that. Your Belgian figs may not have been wearing navy blue, but the black was close enough to emphasize this. Well done to you sir!
@@blitzcrieg101 yes, I wish i had the right parts to make those early war 1870 era french uniforms, what you said is all true, I based my belgians off of black and white pictures and so to me they looked black.

Really nice! No one does this battle in WW1 and never thought of how the Belgians took a beating over Germany.
Also, at 1:50 did you use a specific torso on the soldier or is it a Sticker pack?
@@Kurshkovv its actually a landos randos torso, the back is some random vietnam print so its one of a kind I am afraid

What is the song in the beginning?
Super! The animation quality is impressive, but here is a tip: if you keep the black writings in the start very long, majority of people will either fast forward or exit video, that's why it would be more efficient to either keep it short and put it in the end so the audience stays interested, awesome work though 👍👍.
True, I only did this because I wanted to showcase my knowledge and research on the battle

It’s very good but I think you should increase your fps slightly and sound affects are a bit off at some parts
yeah, the vid was so long that stopmotion studio started glitching and it wouldnt show half the frames and so I didnt know where to play the sounds
@@EMP_Films I've had this problem! One way I've managed this is to copy a section of your frames you want to add sounds to from your project, then make a new separate project and paste it. Then the glitch goes away and you can add sounds more precisely. Then, copy all the new frames that you added sound to, then go back to your original project and paste it in the correct spot then delete the frames that you didn't add sound to... Hope this makes sense! Be careful not to delete the frames that you want though... Cause that can be disappointing!!! :P
