Great vid, it's been fun to see all the holiday 4k releases, great way to re-enjoy some classics! Must say I do find the digital real to have become a real distopian place, I've lost a fair bit of content due to studios/licensing issues that should never impact the consumer but does - even after purcashing it you can and do just loose it.
Thanks,😉 Yes I dislike digital services of any kind & stopped using them completely many years ago after I lost $1,000’s of dollars on building my digital library through the old Walmart Digital service to then wake up one day & my whole movie library was gone & the service shut down without any prior notice whatsoever! At that point I stopped having anything to do with digital at all & I will never go back to using it ever again! I have talked about this a lot over the years but I also hate how digital services are editing out content & changing old TV episodes & movies! I simply don’t trust any digital provider because of how many older shows & movies are gone or simply editing down to fit whatever their agenda is lol!!! 😜
Still though on a positive note there is nothing better than owning each movies or TV series & watching them in the best image quality without the bad compression also!

@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia I prefer the disc. However I've spent many months digitising my films 1:1 copy for Plex. I do not have the room for all my films to be on display. But it better tan nothing. I do keep hold of my disc but stored in wallets.
Just got this one and it is definitely a nice improvement over my previous version. The HDR gave it a nice boost in colors and brightness.

One of my favourite Christmas films,but its one of those likes Gravity,Avatar,Titanic,which have refference 3D conversions.And always gonna be my favourite versions.However i might get it when price will drop

Yah it was a nice surprise & made it finally look like it did originally in theatres back in 2004 so for that alone it was a good 4K UltraHD release! As of right now I don’t have a copy of Wayne’s World 4K on the way to me, so I don’t have any plans for that title as of right now, but I never know what the future might hold lol!!😜

I have my original copy on HD-DVD that I still watch during the holidays. If my player eventually dies then I'll pick up the 4K.

This may be good for a Black Friday pickup if you can possibly find it however I'm sure that the 2007 Blu-ray must look remarkably better than the standard DVD that came out I just recently upgraded my coffee to a Blu-ray and have not had the opportunity to watch it yet

Great review! As a recent subscriber, I've been enjoying all of your in depth reviews. I have always liked this movie a lot and have the old blu-ray and will up grade to this 4K even it is just to attain the new blu-ray disc scan.. But not being high tech knowledgeable .. I have a question--I have a 49 inch Samsung (QN49Q70RAF) which has HDR 8 supposedly and I was wondering if you would know if my player (a Sony 4k player) would enhance this release or any HDR 10 4k video release for that matter. Thanks for your help and I look forward to more of your reviews!
It's a shame it doesn't have DolbyVision; I was kind of hoping (expecting even) that it would have. Also, the 3D version is still the way to go, I think. So many scenes were clearly made for 3D.
Why didn't they just rerender it in 4k geeze?😮💨 I kid I kid. Thanks for the detailed review and explanations. I watched Polar Express last night. Really wish they would have included the dolby vision encode on the disc. The digital does add a little color depth with dolby vision over the hdr10 on disc with the given sacrifices with streaming. The dts-hd was actually a great example to show my girlfriend the differences between streaming and disc. When the train first appears the lfe difference alone makes the disc worth it.
Lol!!! That guys comments on my Shrek 2 4K video are comically hilarious 🤣 Truly I feel like there are wayyy to much miss-information floating around about 4K UHD discs & releases wow lol!!! I also feel like a lot of people don’t truly understand how important a higher end 4K TV & Player that properly calibrated can really make such a massive difference on the overall viewing experience with 4K UHD discs too! I feel like the low end ( Walmart type )4K TV’s & players are actually hurting the 4K market because a lot of people are getting miss representations of the native 4K images on the discs because their equipment can’t even display properly the Dolby Vision or HDR10+ data!
But I guess that’s a whole other story & discussion lol!!! It’s always hard trying to educate people like the guy on the Shrek 2 video when he has so much false information floating around in his head lol!!!! 🤣
@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia We all start somewhere in our learning experiences...its harder for some than others. As far as displays and players go the LG C1 and UB820 have made me believers you get what you pay for especially after calibration. It was a big investment though, for that plus the atmos set-up, and not everybody can swing it. There are more affordable options out there but you have to pick what you want to sacrifice with them. It is very hard to believe some of the stuff that is for sale marked as 4k displays. It blew my mind that displays can actually be sold as 4k that don't actually display 2160P. A lot of people fall victim to the deals that are too good to be true.
@@MINONIVEK1 Very true, I Love ❤️ my LG G2 OLED Gallery & UB820’s but you are right it does take an investment for sure to get a good quality home theatre setup, though that’s where I feel like 4K content should have only been geared to so that it retained its higher quality levels, just like you referenced about low quality ‘not true’ 4K displays on the market the dilute & muddy the understanding & enjoyment of 4K content & are very deceptive to most consumers who think they just buy any 4K TV & plug in a ps4 or Xbox & they are watching the best reference quality 4K content lol!!! 😂 It’s all made the understanding for most of how 4K discs should look inaccurate & a lot of false ideas & false information floating around & that gets drastically even worse when a lot of reviewers are watching & reviewing things on those very low quality & uncalibrated 4K displays & sharing what they see as a review lol!!!😂🤣

The Digital has poorly compressed audio & lack the bit rate to present the image at its best quality & it is not like this 4K UHD disc & does not look as detailed or have refined of an audio sound! Hope this help you out! Thanks

This film stumps me. While on the one hand, I can see the 4k is obviously superior in clarity and color, I think I prefer the blu ray. It just hides the jank CGI better
Polar express SUCKED as a movie. Poorly written, and the storyline was complete trash.
