Also Taeyeon is definitely the best vocalist in Girls' Generation, but that group was really on another level vocally. The vocal line was unparalleled, with Taeyeon of course, but also Seohyun, Jessica, Tiffany, and Sunny. We know that out of the bigger companies, SM has consistently done the best job at training their idols vocally, but GG was really exceptional.
Personally I can only compare them to groups like MMM, Brown Eyed Girls, or EXO in that respect.

taeyeon not only is a great artist, the way she connects and interacts with her fans is honestly on another level. she randomly just goes to ig live (there were times when it was several times a week) and she would just talk with fans for HOURS. her ig lives often go viral in korea because theyre so unfiltered and personal. she also makes fans handmade bracelts, she bakes for them and does so many things beyond what is expected of her. she even fought with SM about her concert in the Philippines. SM didnt want her to go, but taeyeon insisted since fans were asking for it. In the end, the concert organizers in the PH confirmed that it was taeyeon and her team who directly arranged for the PH stop, with SM hardly being involved because they'd rather not. in all my years in kpop, i've never stanned anyone who's THIS good at appreciating their fanbase and it makes me love her even more.
I've seen like 6 comments in the last few minutes saying she was Baek's ex, k we get it we don't need y'all saying it and Tae is much more than just being someone's ex. Ik you guys said it cuz Austin is familiar with Baek but cmon, also that person who said that Tae gained attention from dating Baek, you're incorrect in so many ways fam, Snsd are (or were? idk anymore) the nations girl group, EVERYONE knew them so Tae was already famous. Also shouldn't y'all mention how much hate she got from Exo-l's, queen didn't deserve that

The idea that she got fame off him is so ridiculous, it’s not even worth discussing. SNSD were untouchable in 2014, Taeyeon had the biggest solo fandom among idols and EXO were a rising group. SM was literally shoving them into SNSD/TTS’ mvs to promote. EXO got huge, and deservingly so, Baek is very popular individually and a huge seller. But none of that was yet a reality when that dating scandal happened. She was a much bigger deal than him at the time.
Also seeing exo-l brag about her connection to him feels kinda weird. Not saying any of you guys were responsible for what happened back then but you know what your fandom did to her. It was the ugliest reaction to dating news in kpop. She’s been through hell, is still recovering from depression and some of the uglies from your fandom are still watching her every move and jumping her every chance they get. She has no peace even 6 years after that brief scandal. But the moment someone appreciates her talent you all appear and present her as no more than BBH’s trophy. Nothing against him, EXO or majority of exo-l fandom, but it just feels weird and wrong.

Totally agree, as an EXO L and hardcore fan of Taeyeon I think it’s pure jealousy and foolishness from the ones that state that. I can’t understand how they could hate her. As a Baekhyun biased I was totally enchanted that a legendary QUEEN like her dated my bias but who you date doesn’t define you or your career, even less when you are in such a respected and professional position like Taeyeon. Dumb people ignoring history events just make themselves look stupid. Let’s keep cheering and supporting their solo careers without bringing now irrelevant things of the past.

What I love about Taeyeon is that you can clearly see her musical style and preference but at the same time she always surprises with her new releases. I think at this point she's the artist with my favorite discography ever. Like you said she always delivers a story and a music critique said this about her back then when she debuted "she sings like she has been divorced 7 times". I love love Avril Lavigne as well btw :D
I think you'll like her entire concert btw. Check out her live version of Voice (really sounds like a song young Kelly Clarkson would sing), Blue and Four Seasons, All Night Long, UR and her cover of When We Were Young by Adele (she went busking through Europe a year ago and has a lot of amazing live songs from that trip).
One of my favorite songs of her is "If". It's one of her first solo songs back when she was still a baby artist and it's one of the most popular OST's in SK.

U R by Taeng is one of the most emotional songs that I've listened to - you should definetly check it out! I would reccomend the one from the Butterly Kiss in Busan, it's a low quality fancam, so I would understand if you would prefer the DVD ones, but her voice is so raw there and she looks absolutely stunning.
I love Taeyeon's songs too... Her songs I Got Love, Fine, Why, Rain, Four Seasons, Spark are my faves... Fine got a special place in my heart...

I dont think the "comparison" is bad. I mean, I did that too when I first joined KPOP. You were just referencing and not really comparing them anyway. Thanks for reacting to my ultimate bias again, Austin! She definitely have that story teller vibe when singing. She did some song writing before but she prefer singing songs that she didn't write. Taeyeon said that she is already very sensitive in showing and expressing her ideas, emotions and thoughts to her songs. With this, she prefers to keep her writing skills to herself as she wants to keep her thoughts personal. She mentioned: "I’m careful about expressing my emotions. I’m not the type to often share my thoughts. I leave the past where it ends, and I don’t write in a diary either.”

When she did a busking at Germany, she sang a song there that made the audience cry, even they didn't actually understand the lyrics coz technically it's a korean language. everybody was indeed surprised she went with the understated debut but it spoke of her confidence in her public recognition, at this point she had nothing to prove and embraced the freedom to do whatever she felt like at that moment knowing her reputation would remain untouched v_v it took you less than 10min to respect her because she's just That Powerful.
Taeyeon's concerts can go up to 4 hours and all her songs are vocally challenging. She does that alone

Actually JYP, a kpop CEO dancer singer and song-writter put Taeyeon as one of the 3 best singers he admires because she's so good at delivering messages through a song. Taeyeon is really the role model of every kpop vocalist out there whenever she released a song idols are covering her song in their ig lives, vlive or any livestream platform even if it just an OST in a drama or b-side tracks. Every vocalist inspire to sing like Taeyeon. Idols turned to being a fanboy/fangirl everytime Taeyeon released a song.
My personal favorite of Taeyeon's song
is
1. UR, a totally vocal explosive. blesses are the ears who hear this song. She recorded this song in ONE TAKE.
2. If (i think this is her 1st drama OST) This song was hit in Korea, Taeyeon was praised so much for her vocals and how she can deliver a sad song with full of emotions. "If" was even nominated in music shows competing with a Girls' Generation song itself for a 1st place. 😂

I've always had this deep feeling that shes like the Korean Taylor Swift (without the dating scandals). Her songs just have that nice voice thats so calming to listen to. @gustavo Head voice usually being used to sing high pitches. To raise pitch, your vocal folds elongate. While whistle voice it has a bright, thin edgy sound. Like a whistle. Clearly that part of highnote Taeyeon did does not sound like a whistle. Just a high note using head voice.

You can watch a compilation of her 12 Best Emotional singing - concert edition. She recently released a studio live version of her Japanese song: "Sorrow". She didn't belt high notes on this song but her vocal control is just amazing and superb! 👍🏻

They have strong voices. I’m sure you’ll love them or other choice you can do sub-unit call TTS. It focus on voice because Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun are main vocals in the group.
