What a relief to finally find a video that shows a practical and straightforward way to actually do this. And as a bonus this is the exact unit that I have so that will make it even that much more easier thank you so much.
Great video , my only question is , if my pressure washer don’t have a bypass , the fitting that screw into the unloader it’s just a fitting with a barb or is it a specific valve
Awesome man thank you so much for the video eh. Most videos only discuss with a buffer tank. I was concerned that I needed a looped system with buffer. Now I know I can plum the vent tube through my truck bed to the ground ad my 4gpm lives in my truck bed with the skid but I don’t have a buffer tank. Right on brotha. Just subscribed. My wife is from Sooke.
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I wanted to ask why my pressure washer doesn't turn off when I release the trigger? Is it a mi-t-m model cm1400 omeh?
Sorry for comment on old video…. I setup a bypass but all the water is coming out of the black relief valve on the unloader. Any ideas? PSI tested at 3000
I have a triple AAA 4gpm water pump on my dewalt… They sell just a plumbing kit with the unloader bypass ( not the whole pump ) I am wanting to make sure I can swap this out. Could you assist if this will work or not?
If you bypass the unloader and discharge water onto the ground will the pump not run out of water? Either from you being on the trigger or off and it running running out? I’m trying to get a new pump where it needs to be.
Thanks for sharing. Predator 4gpm is similar than your, but doesn't have the hose, it has a cap, so put out and the water comes out continually, I mean water doesn't stop if I press the trigger. is that notmal?
Great video! So I just bought an Echo 4200psi 4GPM with a GX390 and an AR Triplex pump. There are no bypass hoses, but at the base the black unloader pressure knob, there is a brass plug. Is this where I should plumb into? Wish I could send a pic Thanks!
If your not pulling the trigger the plungers in the pump arent engaging, there's a clutch system in the pump that allows the belt or crank driven to soon freely.
I just picked up the same model as yours off a guy for $300, its a 4200 psi 4.0 gpm belt driven, anyway I did the exact thing you did and the water comes out of the hose fast! Then it wants to kill the motor. But when I hook it back up it works perfectly. I don't understand, its the exact same setup as yours and I did it the same exact way as you did.
Can you run a bypass on a built in unloader valve (the one that came with the machine)? The discharge seems to be in the back of the pump with no outlets anywhere near the nob under the unloader. Or would I need to buy an external unloader valve to run bypass?
It would definitely be a very good idea, that thermal relief is set just below the limit of the pump as a last resort, a cool pump is always a happy pump.
I have that same unit and I'm fixing to build my skid. What about the thermal relief valve on the other side of the unloader? Since you're bypassing the line does the relief valve need to plugged as well?
@@HouseWashingRick much love from middle Tennessee and northern Alabama back at ya 👍 just dropped some new videos trying to help some people on this wash journey “teamwork makes the dreamwork” 🔑 ♥️
The only time the pump is in need if the trigger being pressed for worry of burning up is if there is any leak in the system. If the machine surges up and down that means there is a leak or your unloader is broken. That's when you worry about cavitation
Hey I have a Simpson 3300 but mines doesn’t come with the hose on the water pump, is it possible to bypass that water pump thru the thermal water valve? Cause that’s the only place where leaks does come when it does leak
I'm running a bypass on mine now because the guy I was doing his driveway saw water going out of my ballvalve while I walked away to get something. It ran for maybe 45 50 seconds 😮😮😮. Still running fine but I don't want that again
Remedy: you could add a 3 way ball valve to the water relief hose so that when you use the bleach, it cycles and will not be wasted onto the ground. And when you just washing and rinsing, turn the ball valve off so that it can relief all that water onto the ground. This is what I would do.
Great video and i like the water exiting the hose method Replacing a Simpson AAA EW4040 pump 4 gpm Honda 390 knock off mobile unit Should the new AR pump have an unloader or will an AR pump with a built in regulator be adequate ? Using as a jetter and require short breaks, say 3 minutes to camera drainage pipe Again, like the water exiting the hose method RR
Great video.... maybe i am impatiant.. but it was little long winded in places..... I cam to see how you do this and you got side tracked talking about other things..... My poiunt my guess is that many want something specific...

Glad you liked it!
What unit is this?
You have no idea how much relief you have given me with this video.
Thank you very much
Amazing!!
Super helpful video - thank you!!! Your detailed explanation was just what I needed. 👍🏼
Right on. Glad to help
Thank you brother for posting this. This helped me out a ton.
Very happy to help!
Great video, I used to be very confused about this, very helpful 👌
We are glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Great video , my only question is , if my pressure washer don’t have a bypass , the fitting that screw into the unloader it’s just a fitting with a barb or is it a specific valve
helpful. do you have kits for the bypass

Great news and glad to help!!
@kylemercure2918 mine is mounted in the truck and I just dump the water on the ground as well.

Thanks for the vid, Great info. Plus, I got to be your 500 sub. Congrats man,
I have a triple AAA 4gpm water pump on my dewalt… They sell just a plumbing kit with the unloader bypass ( not the whole pump ) I am wanting to make sure I can swap this out. Could you assist if this will work or not?
Do all pressure washer have the 1/4 outlet/inlet size ?
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Where do you buy the plugs?
We sell them at our online store. They can be tricky to find though and it depends on where you live!
What size are the holes? Mine was repaired so i don't have the jumpee hose and I need to buy the barb
What about on the opposite side of your bypass line it the black nipple do you have to plug that?
If you bypass the unloader and discharge water onto the ground will the pump not run out of water? Either from you being on the trigger or off and it running running out? I’m trying to get a new pump where it needs to be.
I have a 4000psi 4.2gpm unit and want to add an external unloader do you have what is needed ?
Great vid, just what I was looking for, thank you....
Your welcome
So I'm buying a Preditor 4gpm from Harbor freight can you see if I'm able to do this with that machine? And can I buy the cap u used?
The AR pump that comes with the Predator 420 doesn’t have a bypass hose so no you wouldn’t be to
Thanks for sharing. Predator 4gpm is similar than your, but doesn't have the hose, it has a cap, so put out and the water comes out continually, I mean water doesn't stop if I press the trigger. is that notmal?
Excellent video - very helpfull. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
You bet!

Thanks!
It would help to know what type of unloader it is?
Where do you get the plug ? Can’t find them online anywhere or is it just a standard 1/4 inch plug
Yes its just a NPT )Nation Pipe Thread) 1/4" plug....No special but they can hard to find. In Canada you can buy them from our online store!
Great Vid my friend. So simple, so informative.
Question🙋🏽♂️: why would you have to cut the tube, when you could’ve just unscrewed it?
If your not pulling the trigger the plungers in the pump arent engaging, there's a clutch system in the pump that allows the belt or crank driven to soon freely.
I just picked up the same model as yours off a guy for $300, its a 4200 psi 4.0 gpm belt driven, anyway I did the exact thing you did and the water comes out of the hose fast! Sounds like your unloader needs adjusted, sounds like someone has cranked it wide open which will do what you explained.
Can you run a bypass on a built in unloader valve (the one that came with the machine)? The discharge seems to be in the back of the pump with no outlets anywhere near the nob under the unloader. Or would I need to buy an external unloader valve to run bypass?
I have a question I tried to bypass mine like that and it lowered my PSI but I'm going to try to bypass it back to my tub
can you use a direct drive pump for this or does it need to be belt drive
I believe you can use a direct drive.
Thank you for the crystal clear explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video! Could you DIY this with a triple AAA pump (4 gallon per minute)?
If a pressure washer do have a bypass hose is it Internally bypassing then?
Bought this model off someone recently and they removed the bypass tube at some point and capped it off. Would I be able to downstream off of this??
The pump might be rated for 10gpm but that thing ain't pushing a whole 10 gallons thru those tiny jets in one minute, no fkn way
Very straight forward! Great video!
Thankyou!
Do you need this for direct drive pumps too?
Yes it works with direct drive. and is recommended!
You mentioned about sucking the water with gear driven pumps, some come with thermo relief valves. Would I still do the same thing to bypass?
It would definitely be a very good idea, that thermal relief is set just below the limit of the pump as a last resort, a cool pump is always a happy pump.
Thanks Colin
I have a belt driven Simpson pressure washer 4200psi at 4GPM I did not know it would suck water on its own. that's awesome !
how do i bypass a simpson 4000 psi model?? thanks
I have that same unit and I'm fixing to build my skid. What about the thermal relief valve on the other side of the unloader? Since you're bypassing the line does the relief valve need to plugged as well?
You're a G thanks!
If a customer comes to talk to you and you have it on bypass how long can you let it run through bypass before you pull the trigger or turn it off
It doesn’t matter any more once u have a bypass system
What a great channel buddy
What up homie, down here in Cookeville giving you the 👋

@@HouseWashingRick for sure let’s do it! I’ll be at the HUGE CONVENTION most likely

Is the bypass hose size for a 5gpm 3/8”?
Yes and the plunge that you would use would be 1/4

I’m confused because my 4 gpm machine came with no such hose.
Any news about the 4gpm mine also came with no hose
The bottom line, what to do with it..
What brand OF pressure washer? Name brand
Hey, if I’m off the trigger and pump is cycling will it draw chem from my bleach tank?
That's a great question. I'm assuming it will as well. That's a conundrum we're in.
Remedy: you could add a 3 way ball valve to the water relief hose so that when you use the bleach, it cycles and will not be wasted onto the ground. And when you just washing and rinsing, turn the ball valve off so that it can relief all that water onto the ground. This is what I would do.

Don't understand. If you bypass and string it to the handle, when you got to move it, isn't water running right at the tech
good info.. got all i need..
Amazing. Glad it helped!
I use a trash can on wheels as my tank. Put the water hose in the trash can, the inlet hose and the by pass hose.
Great video
Note, the unloader only slips out a small amount of low pressure water, just enough to keep the pump cool.
Great video.... maybe i am impatiant.. but it was little long winded in places..... I cam to see how you do this and you got side tracked talking about other things..... My poiunt my guess is that many want something specific...
The only way this wouldn't work if you use high pressure soap. It will just go on the ground or in your water tank
Do you all actually watch over your videos?
What's your number again bro.? Dallas Texas here
Great video
