Wow! I completely forgot about this episode. Another favorite for sure. What I wouldn't give to have one of those toys today! Thanks for doing this. I really enjoy these. The Twilight Zone has never been duplicated. Happy New Year!
This is my favorite episode of the Twilight zone. I can help but cry .I've sene this episode several times. I always get a teary eye They don't have shows like this any more.
I love The Twilight Zone - and even the brief signature tune motif hooked me as I watched this review - but I can't stand Ed Wynn's sentimentality in this episode. The child actors: admirable. Ed Wynn: pass me a sick bag. Thumb up for your efforts toward a noble cause all the same, Vintage.
Thank you for the comment! Yes, Ed Wynn was a strange choice, indeed. Apparently Rod Serling wanted him for the part specifically because he knew he wouldn't be a very good "sales person" type. I would love to see how this episode might have turned out with a different actor playing the lead role. Could've been a lot better, perhaps. In either case, I still enjoy it and Ed is such an over-the-top kind of guy. It's like watching The Catepillar come to life from Alice in Wonderland and becomes a human.
@@VintageNarrative - I'll run with your caterpillar theme. I popped into a supermarket on the way to work the other day and idly perused the cake shelves as I walked past. One ornately packaged item garnered closer inspection: Charlie the Butterfly. It was a 12" long / 4" diameter chocolate log decorated with a smiley face at one end and a pair of wings no bigger than your thumbs half way down its trunk. It would have made a more plausible dachshund or conger eel. Ed Wynn is that mutant butterfly. They should have cast him as a dachshund, in my opinion.
There is one color episode, rarely shown. My faves: Will the real Martian please stand. What you need, the one about the Santa. Just so many good ones, hard to really nail it down to a few.

Hahaha that’s great. And oops I realized I meant to say The Mad Hatter rather than The Caterpillar. But now I’m sort of glad I got it wrong.
You should shrink- The face ball is obstructing a critical portion of the screen.

Yeah, there’s definitely more good than bad. And there’s so much more to get into even after the first series! Thanks for tuning in ☺️
