Just heard the same Kriti by an young artist whose music I enjoy very much. He kept singing Patti Viduva Radu nache instead of Nacheyyi :). Man did I not waste a fraction of a second to run back to Sri Voleti's version and drenched myself in purity and perfection...
The pure enunciation of his native Telugu and the absence of any theatrics in his demeanor make his presentation all the more unique. I'm forgetting for a moment that he was one of the best singers in our music. How I love his effortless renderings! I cherish the four full kutcheris I have in my collection. His Durga is also great! Neyyattinkara Vasudevan, my fellow Malayali, was his pupil too, if I'm not mistaken. Narayanakurup Kanthikumar, Portland, USA
The best way to enjoy melodies of Tyagaraja compositions is to listen to legends like olety and BMK... Or go for the instrumental version. Pranams to all others for protecting and popularising the vast collection of Tyagaraja compositions.
Superlative stuff! Can anyone ask for a better delineation of the raga? Melody at its best! Hats off to Voleti!!!! One of the best Carnatic pieces on TH-cam. Forever grateful to the music buff who posted this item on TH-cam.
Great Man! Can feel his awesome training and "Vidwat" . I have always had a craze for his concerts. Unfortunately, never could attend one.. Thank for this upload, great tresaure for music lovers!
Thank you for posting this very beautiful composition of Tyagaraja. Voleti Venkateswaraulu always brings a sense of balance to his singing and there is " Sowkhyam" in his music.
