    I bought a few gimmicky tools like this when I was a Apprentice but over the years we all end up going back to the basics strippers lineman's and screwdrivers.

    Gotta admit, I do like the VoltClaw, got the set as a Christmas present a few years ago. One house I was doing reno work on had so many heavily packed old small boxes, it was hell on the skin. Used the VoltClaws to manipulate the wires better than I could with just my fingers.

    If you need a volt claw to handle wires as small as 12 and 14 gauge, you need to work In an office on a computer somewhere.

    I don’t think it is an essential tool for an electrician, but it is really helpful for the DYI homeowner. An electrician knows how to work inside a box but the DYI homeowner might not know and cut the insulation on a wire if they use a pliers. This tool is very handy to push and pull wires inside a box.

      Thanks for highlighting the importance of this tool for DIY enthusiasts. It's great to learn from experienced electricians like you.

    Sorry, but if you think a Voltclaw is essential, you shouldn’t be an electrician 😂

      I mean the only thing id use it for is those sketchy j boxes where box fill wasn't even an afterthought. Especially where there's a bunch of stranded wire and I'm working it hot.

    Well... for all this super electricians, You guys are lucky cuz most of your construction it's on plywood, wood, PvC, gypsum board and that's easy job like baby easy job but now us here in the Caribbean we got concrete construction using blocks or solid concrete walls and sometimes depending how old it's the electric it can be a pain in the @$$ having to use bare fingers in the boxes with old cables and using gloves not all the time it's a good option so that stick its really kind of handy

    • @cocotug0
      @cocotug0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      this!!! I can do it with my fingers, but with practice i bet that you can use the stick and be just as fast but without all the small bruises from the concrete walls

    Essential for Whom? as a Residential Electrician, I work with wires thicker tan AWG 6 a very few times, and when I need to strip them, I do it easily with a utility knife.

      DUDE!!! I said the same thing when a co-worker kept trying to get me to use his at a hotel job. After I used it ONCE I said,"oh, wow!" and then bought one that same day. When it comes to solid wire, the Voltclaw is the tits! It saved my hands, wire insulation, and, most importantly, time. Not sure how much use you'd get out of it with stranded but if you're at a jobsite that's using solid wire then do yourself a favor and get one. I know it looks super dumb but it really is pretty great!

      Not if they put a ncv detector in it.. and gave it a pussy.. so you could fuck it.. but really if it was more a multi tool and had good wire cutters in it with screwdriver thats non conductive and a flash light, level and a pussy so you could fuck it.. yea.. definitely needs a pussy function.. available in yellow black and white.. for the exotic preferences..
