If the painters tape thing gives you trouble you can literally use this same process to remove the last cover. It has clips similar to the first and is a little more durable so it’s tougher to get under. Thanks for the video!
awesome. i got a bug in mine. like some spider or something lol. US B7 looks a bit different to an EU one though. Same process thankfully. Thanks for the video.
is it same procedure for 2017 passat?..also i think there is no need for the rear center dome lights...i will leave it as empty. It just too much bright i think
I replaced my bulbs with LEDs but the bulbs in the back stays lightly lighted (all the time, even when car is off). The ones in front looks great. I was told it is because there is a dimmer feature in the rear reading-dome light. I have a 2016 Passat. Thanks!
Bose9791, I'm glad the led in the front headlights are working great for you. As to the rear lights, did the rear lights stay on all the time prior to being upgraded to LEDs? I have had a similar experience with a Volvo S60 dome lights, the dome lights after being upgraded to LEDs were always on (VERY DIM) but never caused me any problems. _RandomFix
RANDOMFIX I have a similar issue, it’s because the value of resistance inside the LED BULB is very small compared to a regular 168 bulb, it is very very small current draw, less than a red anti theft bulb that flashes when your car is armed. I don’t bother with it...... what’s important is that they last long, at 14$ per bulb
Sorry for that your will need to call video with your vin or try ebay, you may get lucky, was it already broken or did you break while changing the light?
Khalil, Check the video description for the link to like bulbs. Most of the time the vehicle manufacture will continue to use the same style bulbs. Please not don't change license plate or brake lights unless the led light has a Canbus builtin or it will detect it and show on your dash. You won't have a problem for with the interior lights. _Randomfix
Do you have a new spot to order some. I order some but Amazon said they were the exact fit but when I get them, they didn't work. The connector is bigger than my factory. Please help
Has anyone had a problem with the bulbs shorting out? I read a forum were it’s a prob. Mine don’t work after changing the trunk light... they shorted. Tried changing the fuse as well and still nothing. Any help?
Pzlrsd, No error message on the interior lights on the VW Passat led upgrade. However, if you replace the outside/exterior lights/license plates lights you will get warning light unless you use a LED with CANBUS. Hope this help. _RandomFix
Tim, Thanks for the positive feedback. Before I discovered the painter's tape trick, I burnt my fingertips many times and broke many dome light bulbs trying to use pliers. _RandomFix
Joe, Thanks for the positive feedback. I haven't had any these LEDs fail on me yet except if you install them in the license plate holder and the constant slamming will destroy them. _RandomFix
@@RANDOMFIX unscrew the two back screws that are located in the back side and remove the speaker box clip and the whole unit should come out and from there you can easily remove the light and place another light easily without having to worry or fumble around with the angle of the bulb that you choose to put
You didn’t show the actual installation of the bulb. It goes from no bulb to having the leds already in the socket. I’m having trouble installing the new bulbs in the socket

Great tip! So use the painters tape to remove the cover?

That was great. Thanks for the info.EXACTLY what I needed to know.
I appreciate your constructive comments, thank you for the feedback!
Put led light on the front but when they’re set to turn on when the door is open they are always on, but very dimmed not full on, any advice?
Get a light with a canbus circuit
Loved this video, just what I wanna do for my ride. 😃
Glad to help.
I did it and it was clean like wow
Thanks bro helped a ton!
Thank you for your feedback, much apprecated!
So helpful!! Thank you!!
I'm glad to hear the video was helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this.
Hey nice video bro! I do have one question. The link to the Amazon is a deadlink, is there a way for u to send which bulbs u used?
Sorry about that I think they are t10 and get one with a canbus ( light chip that doesn't cause errors on your dash)
Hi. I have one question related to the rear interior lamp: are those buttons illuminated (with the headlights turned on) ?
On the B6 passat they aren't. Just the front dome light buttons(3) but I wish they would have made them illuminated, like the rest of the switchgear.
Sorry for the late reply! did you find a solution?
Hi are all the interior bulbs the same size?
Most are but there is about three size variations, check the video links
What's that little yellow tool you was using call
That’s a little trim tool, the link is the video description
@@RANDOMFIX ok thank you
Where did you get the LED Bulbs?Thank you
Links are in the video description, you need to get the ones that say canbus for your Vw
What about the light underneath the visor? Do you know how to change that
I didn’t change that, I don’t think I saw but 90 % of the time it’s the sale idea.
Thanks vor guide, very helpful video 👍
Glad to help. Thank you.
how about the led in the side mirrors
Oh, I forgot about that, lol, thank you!!
is it same procedure for 2017 passat?..also i think there is no need for the rear center dome lights...i will leave it as empty. It just too much bright i think
Lexusfan100, Yes the procedure should be the same for the 2017 Passat. _RandomFix
also can you do changing reverse lights to leds
What year is that Car your using?
I don’t recall it’s been a while since I made this video

What are the 2 black holes in between the left and right map light buttons? Are they for light sensors or are they small lights?
Those are Red LED's for the slight red glow in the dark, which is really cool considering when they first implemented them on German cars.
Sorry for the late reply! did you find a solution?
What’s the part number of the first cover you took off on the front replacement because I broke the clips
Sorry for that your will need to call video with your vin or try ebay, you may get lucky, was it already broken or did you break while changing the light?
RANDOMFIX not sure but the clips are done
Sorry to hear that you will need to call Vw with the vin number or try Ebay.
It’s on the part you broke or in the owner manual likely
I have a 2012 Passat. What size builds should I order?

They were for your dome light right ? I have a 2014 Passat and they fit perfectly...... are you installing the bulb the right way ?
Sorry for the late reply! did you find a solution?
Just what I needed to know, I got the car a month ago and I just noticed there’s a dead moth in the dome light 🤦🏽♂️
Glad to help.
Has anyone had a problem with the bulbs shorting out? I read a forum were it’s a prob. Mine don’t work after changing the trunk light... they shorted. Tried changing the fuse as well and still nothing. Any help?
My bulbs are still working fine, they normally work for about 3-4 year before flickering.
Should I be worried if the back LEDs stay dimmed/flicker even when the car is off?
Maybe, are you referring to interior lights or rear brake lights?
Do the lights turn off completely when you lock car and wait 20 seconds? ,
Wish you said what bulb sizes
All the bulb sizes are in the video description.
Any bulb out warning with these?
Pzlrsd, No error message on the interior lights on the VW Passat led upgrade. However, if you replace the outside/exterior lights/license plates lights you will get warning light unless you use a LED with CANBUS. Hope this help. _RandomFix
The painters tape idea does not work
Sorry, DOES work.
Tim, Thanks for the positive feedback. Before I discovered the painter's tape trick, I burnt my fingertips many times and broke many dome light bulbs trying to use pliers. _RandomFix
The procedure is helpful but those LED's are old. Those will go out or flicker in no time. I bet they were extremely inexpensive
Joe, Thanks for the positive feedback. I haven't had any these LEDs fail on me yet except if you install them in the license plate holder and the constant slamming will destroy them. _RandomFix
Joe, Thanks for the info.
What’s the bulb number?
My leds are not that bright, please help
Sorry for the late reply! did you find a solution?
hi my interior lights don't work and I don't know what is best to do, to find the fuse or to check if electricity is coming to them
If you are able to check the fuse do so but your can easily check the contacts for the light bulbs 💡 for current.
Almost broke my shit, dont pry the plastic off. There are 2 screws that release the housing instead.
I appreciate your constructive comments, thank you for the feedback!
Don't use this leds. This leds not include constant current circuit. Leds fail quickly. Use included chip, coil, diode leds. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing
There was a way easier way to remove the panel dont do it this way!!!!!
Marc, thanks fo the great info, can you tell us what you are recommending? _Randomfix

Dosent even show putting in the new bulbs.....
Eric, the video is over 4 minutes and replaced the front and center lights. I'm not sure what you are referring to.
You didn’t show the actual installation of the bulb. It goes from no bulb to having the leds already in the socket. I’m having trouble installing the new bulbs in the socket
If it ain't broken dont fix it
Understand but leds and cars look great.
