One of the running gags with Postmodern Jukebox, is the fact the drummer is almost always hidden. This song is amazing, I actually prefer this to the original. Welcome to the PMJ rabbit hole. Scott Bradley the guy on the piano does the arrangements. You should check out there cover of Seven Nation Army also ft. Haley. IMO you cant go wrong with PMJ.
It never was a deliberate gag. It's that Scott never had the room to show the drummer in most of the videos. As he always did them in his living room and a lot of them in the early days were in a small apartment living room. Today, he lives in a mansion and has plenty of room, which is why the drummer is always shown these days .
So the story, according to Scott Bradley, if I remember correctly, is that this arrangement was originally made for another singer but Haley liked it so much that she played around with it by herself at home. Then while on tour they had a day without stage performances where they recorded a bunch of these videos. At the end of the session Scott asks Haley if she wants to have a go at this song. After the touring and recording she felt a bit worn out and hesitated. Scott said they should at least do one take. And they did just one take. This one. That's all she needed! And the rest is history, closing in on 120 Million views (not even counting EVERY reaction channel having looked at it)!😁
If you liked the horns in this again her Seven Nation Army cover is outstanding with Haley but the horns are unbelievable! A can’t miss and a must watch!!!
So glad that you saw this one... this is a favorite.. I Love Haley Reinhart.. she does a duet with Morgan James.. "Dear Prudence".. those two voices together.. wow.. just woww.. Hope you all have a great holiday.. Stay safe!
Hayley's parents had a band as well. She's been singing with them since she was a kid. There's a video with just Hayley and her dad playing guitar. So Hayley is a seasoned pro, there's nothing about her being an amateur.
I just love this version of Creep. This lady has such a beautiful voice that keeps you mesmerized. Her range is just outstanding! Just to let you know Pau from The Warning also did this song with just a Piano and it's also very very good.
"Creep" was one of 3 songs recorded on PMJ's day off in Zurich, Switzerland on their 2015 European Tour. Haley had only joined the tour a week earlier, it was her first professional gig after American Idol. WHEN you react to one of the other vids recorded that day, "All About That Bass" w/ Haley, Morgan James & Ariana Savalas (Telly "Kojak" Savalas' daughter), near the end of that video, you will see the drummer peek out and wave from behind Haley. Coincidentally, both those songs, "Creep" & "All About That Bass" was the first time Scott Bradlee, PMJ creator, re-recorded a cover he'd already done, the correct decision since those songs are now #'s one and two most viewed videos on their channel.
Haley is the bombdiggety. Yes, Scott is playing trills on the piano. I love what he plays after she sings, “ You float like a feather…” it sounds like a feather floating. All shot live by one camera. Most of the time the drums are located behind the singer. She could be a jazz singer from the 30s to the 50s. Try Seven Nation Army by her and PMJ.
You cannot go wrong following more of Haley Reinhart or postmodern jukebox. They bring vintage style back en vogue and at their best, make you think you just heard the original instead of the cover. So many good options. 7 nation army Black hole sun Don't speak All About the bass Dream on Sweet child of mine
The "hidden drummer" is a long-running gag with PMJ videos, almost aways obstructed. Occasionally he will bend his body to one side or the otther and wave 😀
This is my favorite "Creep" -- by far, hands down, no joke! It reminds me of the slippery sexy jazz of the posh clubs in the 40s. Haley's vocal control is amazing. I understand that she was sick that day -- wow. Fantastic reaction!
This Version of creep is pretty much my favorite version of the song with Pau from the Warning's version a close second. Pau's is perhaps even more impressive because she learned the song in just a few hours for an Instagram challenge. Other good PMJ covers: Morgan James's version of Take me to Church, Maps (that one's great and an early PMJ tune), Who wants to live forever. Also I'd recommend trying the band's Pomplamoose, specifically their mashup of Seven Nation Army and Sweet Dreams, and Scary Pockets version of Fix You sung by Monica Martin, and Wild World sung by Rett Madison. Great twists on those songs.
My favorite part of reactions to this is the look on the reactor's faces when she does the key change at the end without any backup for a few beats. It's like watching people think a pitcher is about to give up his no-hitter, then realize it was planned.
as well, Pau from the Warning did this cover 3 yrs ago, not produced, just in her phone & on the piano, but is an excellent listen for non- produced vocals 😋
2:07 "Is there a drummer back there playing?". As I've come to understand, it's kind of a running gag. In almost all PMJ videos, you can hear, but rarely ever see the drummer.
Mind blown? Haley came in 3rd in her season of American Idol. She is an amazing vocalist who is extra special in jazz. Haley, Morgan James, and someone else do All About That Bass with PMJ. Haley’s American Idol buddy, Casey Abrams, sometimes pops in on standup bass and occasional vocals. Both of them love jazz and scatting. I’m so glad you did this one!
I remember watching Haley Reinhart on "American Idol" back in 2011 (she placed 3rd). Loved her sultry voice & it really suits her doing this old style of singing with Postmodern Jukebox. This is a great cover of "Creep".
Had American Idol had "one vote per contestant", as opposed to "almost unlimited power voting", Haley would have won American Idol in a landslide, as opposed to being ripped off as she was.
Have to say, love your new backdrop...Thrilled you have PMJ w/Haley in your wheelhouse now. PMJ has some great musicians and Scott does fabulous arrangements. Lots of technical stuff for Jeremy to analysis for us. Love it!!
I met Haley a number of years ago and actually hung out with her and Casey Abrams for a bit of an afternoon. She's super chill, quik to smile and always knocks you out when she takes the stage. Good people
@@musikbyjh You may really want to check out her duet with Jeff Goldblum (yes, the actor). He's a great pianist and the song choice is swingin'! Super fun vid of My Baby Just Cares For Me
Yes, there is a drummer. PMJ used to like to hide him in their early videos. Her does, however make a short appearance in their "All About That Bass" cover, which features Haley, Morgan James and Arianna Savales (Telly's baby girl).
They started the videos in Scott’s tiny apt so the drummer was pretty well hidden behind the vocalist and it became a humorous quirk in a lot of their later vids
I've said it ever since I saw this video. Haley Reinhart is JESSICA Rabbit, reincarnated. A her other PMJ collabs only show it MORE, with the wardrobes she wears in those videos. I'm glad you got to see and hear her. And thanks for sharing this with us.
Haley is my favorite female artist. Need to watch "Don't Speak", No Doubt cover, "Black Hole Sun", and "Seven Nation Army", by the white stripes. Also this video was taken on the first take, and Haley was sick. This was done during their European Tour.
I really like your reaction - I have watched a few reactions and most of them react to Hayley (who is of course incredible and I am in love with her voice & showmanship).. but the thing I love about your reaction is you also react to the incredible arrangement and musicians. As great as Hayley is, she wouldn’t be able to shine as brightly without such a perfect arrangement (by the pianist.. he’s incredible and so intelligent!) and I too am in love with the brass.. the arrangement of that well known ba da da badada dum gives it that familiarity and vintage feel, and the brass hit it perfectly every time.. and the drums and double bass are exquisite too.. I really love that you react to everything, from the engineering perspective. This is my favourite reaction video. Thank you for taking such a thorough and layered look at it all!
Thanks so much for the nice comment!! For me, vocals tend to take a back seat to the music --- but, I'm a guitarist and audio guy, so I'm biased! Look forward to seeing you back soon! ✌🏽
I appreciate it that you paid attention to the music. So often people are blown away by the vocals, and there is nothing wrong with that. I mean c' mon the are phenomenal. But the arrangements that Scott Bradlee comes up with are such perfection.
I'm happy to finally get to enjoy you enjoying this. Hiding the drummer behind the singer was a PMJ running gag for a while. This one reminds me of "Mother's", a bar in Peter Gunn where his girl friend sang. PMJ has lots of Haley. You will like them all. I particularly like "Habits".
Not really a gag. As Scott initially did these music videos of his apartment living room and apartment living rooms are not very big. Check out PMJ and Haley doing Seven Nation Army. It’s always tough for me decide which I like better between these two covers. Haley definitely uses all her vocal tools in SNA. And so theatrical and fun to watch. Jessica Rabbit in the flesh
Thoroughly enjoyed watching y’all get into this one! I feel you, I just did this one over the weekend and I couldn’t help but be completely enraptured by her performance. Thanks for the smile today!😊
I love Haley and PMJ, this was a ‘one take” performance! They were my favorite band until I found The Warning, now they are just behind! Looking forward to the live on the 30th!!!😊⚡️
Postmodern Jukebox is a fun rabbit hole, and a DEEP rabbit hole. There's quite a few more songs on which they collaborate with Haley, but she's far from the only singer featured by PMJ. And Haley herself is a pretty deep rabbit hole, as she's done quite a few things on her own or as part of other groups. She does a piece with Jeff Goldblum, for example.
Gonna point out the obvious, you should check out Pau from The Warning doing this song on the home piano. She did it as an online fan challenge. She took a few hours to learn recorded and posted it.
Haley is an amazing vocalist/entertainer, she has a huge vocal toolkit. I Love how SHE led the band into the key change near the end. She has several with PMJ. May be the most underrated on the planet. She has a great one with Jeff Goldblum and his band, "My Baby Don't Care
One of my all-time favorite covers! Love PMJ / Scott Bradlee / Haley so much ❤ You will definitely dig their cover of Seven Nation Army - this one is with Haley too 😊
I knew this was going to blow you both away! More Post Modern Jukebox any day, because all the singers Scott Bradley arranges for are amazing. There’s a version of “All About That Bass” with Haley, Morgan James, and another singer (as well as bass shenanigans!) that is so much fun! Side note, VoicePlay has a very cool version of “Creep” too! ❤️🎶
Haley shows her royalty here. She's a princess to Ella Fitzgerald the queen. There's nothing to compare to those women's voices and incredible understanding of the music they made.
You might notice on all pmj videos instruments are all acoustic. In essence you could bring this ensemble onto any street corner and they'd sound every bit as good. That kind of talent is a rare and special thing,
It’s just basically a one camera unaltered vid of their touring stage show which must be seen to be believed, there actually is talent in the live music scene 👍
welcome to the wonderful world of haley reinhart. she maybe the best vocalist and performer of our time (certainly the most underrated). i think what is so phenomenal about haley is not just her amazing silk to sandpaper voice but also her character and soul that she puts into the performances. postmodern jukebox (aka pmj) takes current popular songs and completely re-imagines them vintage (1920s to 1960s) in the music itself and style of the performances that actually take you back in time. they have a variety of good vocals but haley with pmj is exceptional. all the other haley/pmj collabs are great but her other top ones are : "all about the bass", "seven nations army", and "don't speak". haley's solo career is also superb. she has 4 LPs including: "listen up", "better", "what's that sound" and "lo-fi soul" and a recent EP "off the ground" for which she is currently on tour. her lack of mass popularity and industry recognition is primarily due to her resistance to major labels in order to maintain creative control of her music. this significantly limits exposure to tv, radio, etc. her biggest hit is "can't help falling in love with you" that was created and promoted for an Extra Gum for a commercial. it now has well over 425m views and reached double platinum status. it is stunning and frequently described as what love sounds like here: (th-cam.com/video/_uNpEbt7w_o/w-d-xo.html ) 😎
Haley Reinhart is the premier best vocalist to have ever performed with PMJ. As her music video view counts blow everyone else's view counts away. As Haley was the one music artist that put PMJ on the map. As prior to Haley's arrival on the scene, all PMJ ever played were cheap dives and tiny venues. Then after Haley arrived and quickly recorded several music videos with PMJ that all went viral, all of a sudden PMJ was filling arenas and coliseums. As everyone wanted to see and listen to Haley Reinhart. Other must react to music videos of Haley with PMJ are "Seven Nation Army", "Don't Speak", "Oops, I Did It Again" (great vocal control), "Habits", and "All About That Bass".
Hayley has her own band. But PMJ calls her up for certain songs. The piano player rearranges the songs. They take popular songs and turn them into a jazzy, blues sound. I think you would like 7 NATION ARMY, talking about sassy jazzy and sexy. She's very playful in that song.
Haley is just stunning - in every sense of the word! PMJ's cover of 'Don't Speak' by No Doubt is another great one, as is their version of 'Seven Nation Army' and 'All About That Bass' (this last featuring Haley, Morgan James, Ariana Savalas as well as Casey Abrams!). The version of the Beatles' 'Dear Prudence', with Haley and Morgan on a sofa, accompanied by Morgan's husband on guitar is also very special! 😊
Often you can’t see the drummer in Postmodern Jukebox videos. 😂 PMJ just announced their early 2024 dates. It’s a bit like a variety show, and Haley is not on the tour, but if you appreciate the music, it good.
Effie Passero was performing “Creep” in their last tour in Europe, she does her interpretation of Scott’s composition and soars up and beyond, Scott’s arrangement showcases his guest vocalist talents in their own way. Try not to get stuck on just Haley and Morgan as PMJ has a ton of outstanding “under the radar” vocalist on their TH-cam channel, Miche, Hannah, Gunhild, Cortnie, Alison, Effie and the list goes on......
Great reaction! I know you liked Morgan James and PMJ. Watch All About That Bass with PMJ featuring Haley, Morgan and Ariana Savalas. I've seen Haley and Morgan live and they each had a fantastic show.

I understand that Haley did this on her first take and requested another because she had been performing a lot and felt her voice may have been a bit rough. But Scott said, "We're good".
Now ya gotta do Haley/PMJ 7 nation Army! Ella Fitzgerald/Billie Holliday/Jessica Rabbit-all in 1 5'2" package. Truly a 30s style jazz version. You'll love it!
This rendition depicts 40’s and 50’s style of jazz, with some elements of rock and blues. Haley is a master vocalist when it comes to these genres. And yes, it was a running gag with PMJ to hide the drummer in many of their videos. Seven Nation Army and Don’t Speak are also great PMJ/Haley Reinhart collaborations.
No it wasn't a gag, As Scott recorded the early videos before Haley made him a millionaire in his apartment living room and there simply was not enough room to show the drummer who usually was staged behind the singers. Later, once Scott became rich thanks to Haley and bought his mansion, he then had enough room in his recording studio to always show the drummer.
@@Harry-ie3nt except that both Creep and All About That Bass were recorded in a studio in Zurich while on a European tour. And the drummer is hidden. And I could find a few more videos that weren’t recorded in his apartment, where the drummer is hidden.
@@JeffTokayer Did you notice how tiny the studios were. It wasn't a gag, it was a necessity. I mean, who would agree to play drums and be hidden at the same time if it weren't absolutely necessary. Not many people.
It's a running joke in PMJ to hide the drummer. They don't always hide him, but many times they do. Also, check out PMJ with Haley Reinhart singing Seven Nation Army, All About That Bass, Black Hole Sun (I may be remembering this one wrong), and Don't Speak. Have fun going down this rabbit hole!
No its not. In the early days, Scott recorded his videos in his small apartment living room. Thus, he didn't have enough space to show the drummer.most of the time. Today, after Haley transformed Scott into a millionaire, Scott lives in a mansion with his own recording studio.
First off keep the Ninja front and center. She balances you out very well. I enjoy the two of you together. PMJ has many more that you will like as much as this one. Morgan James - Dream on - Just wow All About that Bass - Haley, Morgan and Ariana WOW x 1000 Mad World - Puddles Pity Party and Haley - very fun There are many more but these are the best.
It's not really a running gag that you can't see the drummer. In the beginning, PMJ recorded in the living room of Scott Bradlee's NYC apartment, which as you might expect was small. The drummer was placed in the back due to space limitations. Bradlee relocated to Los Angeles and continued recording in his apartment. This video was recorded on a day off during PMJ's first European tour not long after his relocation. It is one of the three videos they made that day. It was a rented studio, so they probably went with the setup/staging they knew. Bradlee bought a home in Los Angeles, which led to some recordings where the drummer was more visible. At some point he relocated to a farm in Iowa or Nebraska or somewhere. I'm not sure where they record now, but post-COVID they no longer post a video a week. Scott Bradlee is in the most recent videos, so I suspect he travels to the west coast to record. In the newer recordings the drummer is clearly visible.
If you want to hear horns, you ought to hear Haley singing Seven Nation Army with PMJ. They do it in the style of a New Orleans funeral dirge and it's absolutely unique and unexpected. Please check it out.
I love most PMJ’s stuff especially with Haley but if you want her best, you have to listen to her song “Don’t know how to love you”!!!!! Loved y’all’s reaction and insight to the industry. All of my kids are in some way associated with music so I can tell when someone is in the industry. Y’all have my subscription. Thanks.
GREETINGS EARTH COUPLE: I see someone already beat me to recommending It's All About the Bass, and 7 Nation Army, which have had many a man going oglie-eyed and/or on the floor in a fetal position.
Since you've now met Haley Reinhart AND Morgan James, you might have a lot of fun with the PMJ version of All About That Bass with both Haley and Morgan plus Ariana Savalas. It will put a huge smile on both of your faces. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/aLnZ1NQm2uk/w-d-xo.html
Watch her and Morgan James singing The Beatles "Dear Prudence" sitting on a couch with Morgan's husband playing jazz acoustic guitar to accompany...
Gonna point out the obvious, you should check out Pau from The Warning doing this song on the home piano. She did it as an online fan challenge. She took a few hours to learn recorded and posted it.
Definitely will check you. You KNOW we love Pau!! ❤️🥷
Haley is incredible.
The GREATEST cover EVER done to date, prove me wrong!!!
I concur.
the other singer, Adraina Savalas, Telly Savalas's daughter
@@glennelfmann3143.
😂 Who loves you baby? 😅
The drummer pops out, back behind everyone, and waves in their arrangement of "All About That Bass".
Haley shows her royalty here. She's a princess to Ella Fitzgerald the queen. There's nothing to compare to those women's voices and incredible understanding of the music they made.
Her voice is naturally raspy
Her cover of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes is a must watch!!!!
Thanks so much for the info!!
Other must react to music videos of Haley with PMJ are "Seven Nation Army", "Don't Speak",
"Oops, I Did It Again" (great vocal control), "Habits", and "All About That Bass".
Hayley has her own band. But PMJ calls her up for certain songs. The piano player rearranges the songs. They take popular songs and turn them into a jazzy, blues sound. I think you would like 7 NATION ARMY, talking about sassy jazzy and sexy. She's very playful in that song.
Haley is amazing. All her PMJ covers are fire.
Great reaction! Welcome to the rabbit hole!
Thanks so much!!
Often you can’t see the drummer in Postmodern Jukebox videos. 😂
PMJ just announced their early 2024 dates.
@@georgelynch6139 Agree. I’ve seen them once in person. And planning to go again.
Haley is my favorite female singer...hands down. Check out "Seven Nation Army". PMJ again. Amazing!!
Lots of people cover it this takes the cake
Since Jeremy mentioned he loves an upright bass, you should check out PMJ's cover of all about the bass with Haley & Morgan James
Great reaction! I know you liked Morgan James and PMJ. Watch All About That Bass with PMJ featuring Haley, Morgan and Ariana Savalas.
I've seen Haley and Morgan live and they each had a fantastic show.

PMJ Don't Speak w/ Haley, just EVERY PMJ w/ Haley
the piano!!!
When Haley sings, she makes me eternally happy I’m a male of my species.
PMJ All about the bass, has BOTH Morgan James & Hailey Reinhart!~
perfect example of a 1940's Torch Singer, she is so good.
HOLY CRAP😮😮😮❤❤❤
Morgan James - Dream on - Just wow
All About that Bass - Haley, Morgan and Ariana WOW x 1000
Mad World - Puddles Pity Party and Haley - very fun
There are many more but these are the best.
Thank you so much for the recommendations!! And yeah, Ninja's a keeper...I won't let her escape!! ✌🏽
Hello J&J💕 his voice gives me chills too. And his arm movements attract us... Thank you very much, it was such a beautiful moment of sharing😘
Glad you enjoyed it, Eveline!! ❤️🥷
Great reaction and analysis! For a bit more than a glimpse of the drummer check out Haley and PMJ doing To eLo’s Habits.
Thanks for the compliment. Will do on the song !!
If you want to hear horns, you ought to hear Haley singing Seven Nation Army with PMJ. They do it in the style of a New Orleans funeral dirge and it's absolutely unique and unexpected. Please check it out.
Haley was on American idol
Check out her "Seven Nation Army.....FANTASTIC !!!!!
Thanks.
WOW, Daniel!! Loved this comment, and thank you very much for the kind compliment!!
I heard she did that in one take too!
Haley...... ! !
you mention Morgan James you should check out "All About That Bass" with Haley, Morgan and Ariana Savalas this is the one that got me hooked on PMJ
I think we’ve done this one and it was awesome!
The rare instances that the cover is better than the original
You need to check out the cover Pau from The Warning did on piano.
Hi guys. I recommend PMJ "MMMBOPP" version. PMJ is awesome.
Hi there. I really liked this one with Hailey & PMJ: Maps - Vintage 1970s Soul Maroon 5 Cover ft. Morgan James
All I got to say is, All About That Bass, also PMJ! You won't be sorry!
Please react to Angelina Jordan, "Now I'm a Fool". She will also blow your mind.
Nah, she is not a mind blowing artist and she is also not very attractive if you get my drift.
I like this better than the original
She was on American idol, and you should also check out her version of House of the risen sun. ❤❤ I enjoy your reactions very much. 😊
Hi, nice reaction, pau from the warning had a cover of creep, tried to hear the cover
I will check it out- love Pau!
Up next, Seven Nation Army. Pure Jessica Rabbit vibes.
GREETINGS EARTH COUPLE: I see someone already beat me to recommending It's All About the Bass, and 7 Nation Army, which have had many a man going oglie-eyed and/or on the floor in a fetal position.
They did this in one take
Since you've now met Haley Reinhart AND Morgan James, you might have a lot of fun with the PMJ version of All About That Bass with both Haley and Morgan plus Ariana Savalas. It will put a huge smile on both of your faces. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/aLnZ1NQm2uk/w-d-xo.html
