Grew up with them in the Vic Mallee but Cripes, you must get some horrid dust storms there... love seeing your little tacka out & about too..

      Thanks for watching 👍.
Generally we're ok. We have a 450mm average rainfall. Don't get me wrong, we have some horrible dry years and can go 5-6 months over summer with virtually no rain (like this year). These paddocks were left bare for reefinating and of course the reefinator just turned into powder, especially after just going through summer.

Do you have a tow behind rock picker? I used to use a Degelman tow behind Prong Picker and it worked great. I think it was better than the spinning type because I could pick up almost any size rock even if it was buried. I could pick up a full load of rocks in ten minutes pretty easy. Much easier and faster than using a tractor loader and hand picking.

We do have an old spinning type one and an old stone rake. Both need a bit of work. The old man and grandpa did an insane amount of rock picking with them back in the day. Dad claims around 5 tonne to the hectare of rock. Said you could hardly ride a motorbike across our paddocks.
Yeah it looks a little insane to hand pick but we hardly do any rock picking anymore. Just a quick skim around the hill tops after seeding.

How long does it take for the rocks to grow big enough to harvest?

Ohh... only thousands, possibly millions of years ;-)
