Thanks for this! I'm (no joking) a woman who recently decided to take the leap and try on the bald look but the first time I did it I got razor burn which looked terrible 😅 I had to cover it up with makeup for a bit! The thing is that I really prefer the look of a close shave rather than having a lot of stubble so at first I tried shaving against the grain and using too much pressure which was not the right call. Hope this helps me get a close shave without any redness or discomfort.
Nice job Matt. I recently switched to the Defender and it's been amazing! Quicker shaves, closer shaves and no irritation! I love the menthol/eucalyptus combo of the "Refresh" Proraso. I use their pre/post-shave creme, shave creme and aftershave lotion together and it's all amazing stuff. If you haven't tried their pre/post shave creme it is really nice. I usually exfoliate my head in the shower and then apply the pre-shave creme. Let it sit for a few minutes then just apply the shave creme with my brush over the top and good to go.
😄 That exfoliant looks like the same kind of liquid soap sold at my junk yard. It's amazing with getting grease and oil off the hands but I never thought to wash my head with it. I wonder if it is more or less the same thing.
Thanks Matt for your content. I do have a suggestion that I got from another TH-camr(Greg Boswell) that changed my life. If you use a high quality hair conditioner to shave with as opposed to shaving cream I can almost guarantee you will not have any razor burn or irritation and you will get a smooth clean shave . Try it brother, you will like the results !!!
I find the physical exfoliation a bit harsh on skin. I use chemical exfoliation, the one i use on my face, it has AHA and it brightens the dark spots on my head due to razor bumps and acne.
Nice! i use scrub exfoliant st.ives apricot ,and acido salicylic .the same head shed. Proraso i use sometimes, i have proraso Red,green, blu.i like blu.but i use Taylor of old bond street lavander, , or art of shaving ,cella rasorock, macaroot aloe the body shop. I use hot towel for open the pore ,and scrub .nice video.nice preparation! I use defender razor regular cartridge or Gillette fusion prosheild flexball chill. Beautiful video.very important
Thanks for watching buddy! Yes, I've used the St.Ives in the past, great stuff as well. I just picked up two TOBS creams, the Tobacco Leaf, and Lime Zest. Looking forward to trying them out. I've actually been looking at buying a hot towel machine to have hot towels on hand to get that barbershop experience at home.
I like to shave after a shower. To me it's a relaxing time to enjoy the different shaving products. Sphinx has an excellent shave soap. Let me know what you think!
Great stuff Matt! I haven’t ventured out of my comfort zone and tried an exfoliant or using a brush to apply shaving creams/gel. Following your channel ends up costing me lots of money! 💰 😀👍🏼
Oh man, I remember watching many of your videos on Headslick. It was your positive information that lead me to it. Great product for sure. Thanks for watching!
Yes, just got one this week and have used it twice so far. Liking it, but it’s quick to bit me. Just need some more practice with it. How often do you change the blades on yours?
@@NoBSBeardReviews I started d.e. traditional headshaving about a year now after more than 20 years of shaving with cartridges. Not so long a go I finally got hand of a Leaf razor. So i am also experimenting. So far I used 3 Astra green single blades. With my safety razor I usually change blades after 4 shaves. So I think I am going to stick with that. I'm going to experiment with different blades for example an agressive blade at the bottom, medium blade in the middle and mild blade at the top. See what that does. Thanks for you response and kind regards from the Netherlands!
I go ahead haha love english spelling haha i have long hair but im starting to lose hair. SS im searching the best way to shave my head. Nice video.. Epic Beard.
@@NoBSBeardReviews Thanks! Going to try the european similar Defender which is "Boldking". Seems to be exact the same so minus the risk of too much corona delays.
I keep watching these shave videos. I keep getting closer and closer to just doing it. Lol. Thanks for the helpful tips Matt. 👍. That much closer to shaving thee ol head lol
@@NoBSBeardReviews I don't live in the US, so I wouldn't know if my preferred brand is available there (Andrélon). The type I use says it's for dry and frizzy hair and has some oils in it such as Argan oil and Marula oil. It doesn't foam up, but it is moisturizing and slick when applied. Great for shaving any part of your body tbh. Check out Greg Boswell's channel to see it in action.
Best HEAD and FACE SHAVE? Shave in the SHOWER. The hot water and humidity combined with the shave cream softens the hair by @ 35%. It acts as a "hot towel" and eliminates the need for a shave oil prep. Dry your razor thoroughly and all of this combined will lengthen the life of you razor by over 50%.
Considering the primary exfoliating ingredient of the HeadBlade 'Head Shed Exfoliating Preshave Scrub' -- fine ground walnut shells -- maybe you might care to consider these much less expensive options: St Ives 'Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub' and St Ives 'Energizing Coconut & Coffee Face Scrub' (in 6 ounce containers) which both include walnut shell powder. Also, is there any chance of you considering a head shaving video using a foil shaver? This past year the 'BaBylissPRO FX3 Professional High Speed Foil Shaver' won top awards as best foil shaver for 2021 among numerous products on these two barber-related channels. I'm not quite ready to head-shave, but if I was I'd certainly consider this reasonably-priced barber quality product. /watch?v=VjfyI8M8UeA /watch?v=qrvYeQJXhuM&t=603s

I couldn’t agree with you more on the Defender razor. I’ve not tried the Proraso pre shave yet. I do use the post shave balm and love that.
Do you shave your head in the shower?
Dont you already exfoliate when youre shaving with a razor tho?
Just that little bit of shave cream, and an amazing-looking lather!
Proaso makes a great line of shaving products. Reasonably priced, too.
Yes they do!
Awesome. Thanks for showing us the exfoliate product! I want to get some now!
It's great stuff!
Love the Defender razor and Proraso tubes.
Can’t go wrong with either!
That is the most epic and majestic beard I have ever seen.
Thanks!
Beautiful beard! Thanks for the tips. I have a full head of hair but prefer the bald look. It's hard to achieve with a full head of hair.
I’m sure it is. Thanks man.

Awesome, I will pick up that other stuff.. Really loving my head shaves, thanks to you Matt..

Glad you're onto the proper brush/cream lather. Next step - Merkur 34HD and 100 Personna blades!
One of these days!
Awesome video brother and definitely gonna try Head Shed
Headshed is scrub exfoliant by headblade
Matteo head shaving yea I got that thanks
It's good stuff. I need to pick up more!
Try conditioner to use for shaving...
Gonna experiment with that soon.
Great video. I didn’t know head shaving was so technical. Something for me to definitely think about. Thanks for the info!!
I guess you can make it as complicated as you would like or just keep it simple. Thanks for watching.

IAMCDB their sample sizes are perfect for traveling by plane. I can get three shaves from one packet.
@@NoBSBeardReviews nice!
Ever try the pre-scrub from Dollar Shave Club? They have a lot of pre and post shave products...
I have not, but will check it out.
you look like greg boswell!
Hahahaha, I’ve gotten that several times. Greg’s a great guy with great content.
@@NoBSBeardReviews so are you!! this video showed me the mistakes i was making and i have learnt a lot from this. thank you!

Hmmm, Head Shed. I've seen it but never tried it, makes sense to me though. It's a definite must try.

Have you tried any RazoRock soaps? Great value and performance.
Yes, just picked up their Chicago scent recently. I'll be doing a review on it in the future. You are correct though, great value and performance.
I have to ask what your favourite head shaver is? Then i mean the "tool" itself, not creams. Would be interesting to hear!
Either the Defender or Leaf razor.

Yes, I always use an Aftershave post shave. Glad you are liking the Defender!
I'm gonna try that Head Shed.
It's great stuff.
You could definitely use a trim on that beard. Getting crazy and to wavy. Maybe a trim video?

use conditioner instead of shaving cream/soap, that way you can see what you're doing
What conditioner do you recommend? I’ve tried one before, but it clogged my razor more than I liked.
