  • Please check out the review noted below which got me most interested in purchasing this and the Q2. They have been working well for me so far.

Great hands-on! My favorite all-in-one dress pants EDC would be the Victorinox Compact with black scales. It is also about 15mm thick, but only 91mm long and also has great scissors, caplifter/screwdriver and a pressurized pen. But on top of that, it has a big blade, tweezers and nail file (great for grooming), toothpick, jewelry screwdriver, corkscrew and a multi-purpose hook. The SOG would only be right for me, if I‘d use the pen very often and if I‘d need thick, strong scissors. The Vic scissors are more precise though.

I've enjoyed my Victorinox Midnite Manager for over a decade now. In dress pants, you don't need a big blade. The MM has most of the same stuff, including bottle opener, nail file, small flat screwdriver, small Phillips screwdriver, scissors. Plus a retractable pen (good for emergencies, although I wouldn't want to write too much with it) and an LED flashlight. All in a very compact package.

I have bought three of these dang Baton series in the last 4 days, the only one left is the Q2, the flashlight one. Well hell, I might as well get it over with and get it. These really are well done and the price has come down to a level appropriate I believe. I carry one, keep one in my edc med pack, the others will find a home without a doubt.

This is the last one I've decided to buy. I started with the Q2, and liked it so much, I bought 2 more...lol. Then I bought a Q3 and a Q4, the Q3 has been an excellent EDC multi tool other than the handle slipping past the detents during plier use, but I can put up with that little nuisance for the rest of the tool just being so darn awesome. I put the Q4 in my motorcycle since it has all the bits and the leather pouch. I feel they missed an opportunity when they didn't put a belt clip on the leather pouch for the Q4, but whatever. Now I've decided to buy the Q1 just because I think the scissors would be handy, and to say I own them all. I dont know why SOG discontinued all these models. They may have a few issues that could be worked out on future models, but I think SOG has a great line up of tools here that needs to come back. Everyone I show my Q3 to just loves it. I think SOG didn't push enough marketing on these tools. Heck I just bought mine in the past 6 months, already long after they've been discontinued. I just simply never knew about them. But I'm sure the price was probably higher when they first came out.

I have found all the issues occur only if one is not fully extending it all the way to the limit. If you pull the two sides apart all the way and when closing, have it look hyper extended a bit, it opens and closes smoothly.
