Dear Mr. Atkinson, I just wanted to say that your video on doing the Possibles Pouch really intrigued me and re-kindled my interest in doing leatherwork. I have some experience in leatherwork from what I have done at work (leather wrapped plastic shells that are a foot/ankle support bootlet). I've been accumulating some basic tools and materials (scored some veg tanned leather {as well as some scraps of chrome tanned} from at work!) and will be making a form for your Altoids pouch soon. Forgive me, please, that I can't afford to donate to your cause just yet. I most certainly WILL, just as soon as I can! I want to THANK YOU for producing such informative vids on this subject. You are truly appreciated for this. You are, obviously, a fairly young fellow...but you exhibit not only a true mastery of your chosen craft but a wonderful natural ability to teach what you are passionate about. One thing I have learned is an easier and safer way to put the blade into the safety beveller. Rather than having to bend the blade you can slide it in to the slot from the handle end which flexes the blade for you as it goes. Thank you for your videos btw, they are always very helpful and informative.
I would love to see an in depth video on lining leather with different materials, specifically cloth materials, such as canvas or felt, if you know how to do that?

Yes of course, pig skin is fine I've used that myself. I was just using scraps for the examples but your lining/binding leather can be any thin, suitable leather it doesn't have to be buffalo. Pigskin is good there's also suedes, kip, goat, deerskin, kangaroo ... anything like that which is about 1mm or less. Or you could split down normal leather if you have the means also.
Ian another way to do this on thinner leather that you may need to be a touch thinner for this purpose is sanding in down carefully as well. With 80 to 120 grain sand paper to finer depends on how much you need to remove.

You make awesome vids mate. But can you attenuate the hammer strikes and the like. Gotta turn it up to hear your voice. Then you hit something with a hammer and the old bloke next door thinks he has incoming artillery.
I've no idea why automatic gain control isnt standard hardware on every audio device, or why software features aren't integrated into browsers. Passing the responsibility down to users in AV editing, is obnoxious at best. hey, @TH-cam, fix this shit.

And what if I wanted a curved turnover? For instance, I want to make a leather mask but the patterns don't have a fold over. I want to fold the edge over but not have a stitch and I want a flexible band inside to allow the mask to conform to the face/nose at the top.

Great video! Especially since my current project is a wallet. I recently acquired a belly of Italian leather. My current issue with all of my projects to date has been applying glue. I have been using cement from a tube and naturally it is messy. I just bought some fiebing's leather cement with a pointed nozzle. We'll see how that works. Any tips would be appreciated. Ian, thank you and I found some glue at my tandy store that I thought you may or may not want to know about. I bought a red and yellow can of Barge cement glue. Up until recently you needed a tax license to purchase, but no more. I really liked it and thought you might want to check it out. Brian

What pricking iron do you use in this video? I bought one, a cheap version with straight teeth, but the slits are so wide that it weakens the leather. This looks tight and neat.
I'm also self taught, mostly from books and concentrating mostly on carving. I only quite recently started finding instructional videos similar to yours having to do with leather and leatherworking and I must say, yours are definitely better than most. Thank you very much for your efforts here on TH-cam.

Hey Ian, would you be able to show a quick video on how to do corners with turned edges? I've tried on scrap pieces, but I can never get it right.

I would use contact adhesive with a brush so you can apply it accurately, Ian.
