  • THE MICHIGAN WOLVERINES HAVE WON THE 2024 CFP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! 🏆〽️
Here is the reaction from the Michigan Marching Band, with these selections being played:
    1. "The Victors" (0:04)
Our official fight song, "The Victors", was written in 1898 by student Louis Elbel directly after a major victory over the University of Chicago, which clinched a undefeated (10-0) season and crowned the Michigan Wolverines as the champions of the Western Conference, hence the immortalized term "Champions of the West".
    2. "There'll Be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight" (0:55)
Before "The Victors" (1898) or "Varsity" (1911) were written, the Michigan Marching Band played "There'll Be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight" (or simply "Hot Time") after each football victory as the school's unofficial fight song, including after the previously mentioned 1898 victory over the University of Chicago. In November 2022, the Michigan Marching Band performed an arrangement of "Hot Time" during its quasquicentennial celebration (125th anniversary). Just two weeks later, the Michigan Wolverines secured a major victory over Ohio State in Columbus and the MMB played "Hot Time" once more. Now, the MMB plays "Hot Time" after major wins, as an ode to the rich history of the Leaders & Best. Here is our original 2022 performance: • "125" (MC) - November ...
    3. "The Yellow & Blue" (2:00)
Our official alma mater, "The Yellow & Blue", was written in 1886 by English/Latin professor (and 1878 Michigan graduate) Charles M. Gayley. Originally, Gayley submitted the lyrics in an effort to win a $10 prize from the editors of "The Palladium", a student yearbook, as a part of a competition to write a college song for Michgan. He won and the song soon became the alma mater of the University of Michigan. Regardless of win or loss, the Michigan Marching Band plays "The Yellow & Blue" followed by a reprise of "The Victors" after every Michigan football game as proud students and alumni join in singing.

Really nice to see you bring back the old fight song, "A Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight".
If I'm not mistaken, it was played last year late in the game against OSU and Purdue, and I noticed it in the background when they were interviewing Harbaugh and J.J. after the natty. Congrats to both the best team and the best band in the nation (and naturally the best fight song too!).
